Time for another wonderful motor to change hands - for the chaps among you

Gentlemen, the time has come to part with one of the best cars I ever had. I had only bought it as a stopgap/WBoD until my V8 is back on the road and this is imminent.

Technically, there is nothing wrong with this bleeding thing, in fact, it never missed a beat since I had it and it was in daily use. In fact, for a fourtnight it was our only means of transport, and Ms Junkman even did the school runs with it.

It could do with a little help in the optical department, but is ready to use as is. Of course I would support the new owner in obtaining whatever is needed to bring it up to top notch, which is a lot easier when you know where to look.

It still has MoT until March, and I hate to say this, but it will easily pass. Of course VED is free.

This is one  of the cheapest and best forays into P6 ownership and you will certainly not be disappointed, I guarantee you. For the Shiter's Special of £1500, you will be hard pressed to find a better one.

Oh, it's a 1970 2000TC manual, if such vacuities really interest you.

That looks a good value classic, bit of TLC would soon have that looking like a show winner, or use as. I hope it finds a deserving home :)

I could be daft and ask twice as much, I know. But I'd prefer if it stayed within the brotherhood.

Also, if someone likes black, I would throw in a set of correct black leather flat pleat seats and door cards.

That looks absolutely great, especially for pretending to be a character out of "Lock Stock", YOU SLAG...

I'd dearly love a P6 but as an HGV licence holder I'm afraid too many people would think I'm living the Sutcliffe dream.

OMFkgingG, I would love this car, good luck finding a new home for it Junkman.

SIK. Why am I always penniless when it comes to these lovely cars for sale. I'd love to buy it for that ex-pat look when I go.

Mind you, I'm yet to spend 4-figures when buying a car. The most I've ever paid for a car is £730.

MEGAWANT, however P6s continue to scare me... How's the bodywork on this one ?

Posted

Fuuuucccck that's lovely! Can't be much more uneconomical than the xm either.

Ooooohhhh

(I can't have it, sorry!)

Posted

Oh, crap, I meant to have my life together by the time you offered this up for sale

MEGAWANT, however P6s continue to scare me.

After a quarter century of the antidote, namely yanks, which all are like the pictures in a basic car mechanics school book from the 1940s, it took me a while to absorb the raving bonkersness and because-we-can-ness of the P6. But once you lived past that stage, there is no way back.

See, my V8 is haunted, still, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I will die with that car and it will die with me. Apart from that, it would be first degree murder if I sold it on.

But I can assure you that this car here is not possessed by an evil spirit, not at all. It's more like a good pal. This is the kind of car Uncle Bob would drive.

...Or at least Uncle John... as we always called my next-door neighbour who had a Zircon Blue TC for most of the 70s and a bit of the 80s.  JRN 823H.  GLWTS.

Posted

The wife has just given it the thumbs down with the description of the colour as 'metallic poo' and basically it isn't curvy enough, but her car of choice is a Porsche 356 so that's the opinion of Miss Fussy.

Not that I could treat it with the care that it deserves but GLWTS and all that.

Posted

It's not metallic! It's genuine hearing aid beige, the colour all other colours have to measure up to - and usually lose!

Miss Fussy has yet to learn the mere basics of giffertasticness.

I hope your wife is either VERY fit, or there is something else significant to compensate for the woeful taste in cars  :-D

Great, now I've had a trouser accident. Couldn't you have put a warning on this incredibly pretty thing?

Posted

That's glorious, it is on my want list but I have neither enough money or enough space to be able to purchase such a fine steed.

GLWTS

Well I've got nowhere to park it, insurance is more than double the Sprite's, but it's lovely, it's close and the price is good, so...

I'd like to come and have a look at it. Will PM you tomorrow, Junkman.

Get in.

Lovely car with a more than generous AS discount, wish I had the folding.

Posted

That's astonishing value! As a penniless dreamer all I can offer is a GLWTS, unless someone wants to swap me £1500 for a lung and a kidney in VGC?
Thought not...

I would be delighted to welcome you to my digs. I had no idea you are local to me!

Yeah, I'm only in Sale. I've PM'd you. (Couldn't wait until tomorrow)

Conrad, I can't wait to meet you.

All others: I'm Austrian, hence monetary stuff doesn't really interest me and IMO it should never be in the way of genuine enthusiasm. All money matters can be discussed and mutually suitable agreements can be reached. I'm not a greedy man.

Junkman Kay's Catalouge chrismas club aspirational luxoporn scheme?

Say YES to the best.

£400 down and 18 months @£60 a month with no arrangement fees or leg breakings?

I'm in. Where's me biro.

A P6 is on my list of cars to own at some point, and it's addition to said list is in large point due to you, Junkman.

This example looks to be a good car at an excellent price; however, out of five cars in my ownership only two are currently performing to my satisfaction. Therefore I should probably be concentrating my time and financial resources on sorting out the cars I already have rather than adding to the collection.

Should I have a moment of weakness (for example, drunkenness) before someone else buys it, I shall be in touch.
