It is dark when I go to work and dark when I go home.

Took some quick snaps in the failing light.

SIR THERE IS NO REASON FOR YOU TO BE HAVING THE SHOUTING. I WOULD LIKE TO GO HOME IN MY MARUTI CAR.

I think you mean Mehran, the second gen Alto was never badged as a Maruti, that was 5th gen.

:P

I beg to differ - the Mk2 Alto was sold as a Maruti in Europeshire.

panda - so does the little beast have an overdrive (or similar) on the gearbox or is it a genuine 2spd.

Posted

I assumed this would be something like the Hondamatic 2 speed in early Civics. They don't actually shift gear, they just have two ratios to choose from and a torque converter. The Honda ones are actually pretty nice to use but then they have a 1200 on the other end of them!

Or is it like the old powerglide thing that used to change up just above tickover,

But had a viciously rapid kickdown?

Posted

No overdrive. No kick down. Just 1st to pull away and 2nd to drive with.

That looks like a truly appalling means of transport.  Well done  :-D

Does the "aftermarket-style" rear fog lamp indicate that it is a grey import?

PS I think it should be chopped and jacked, with Vitara wheels and mirrored windows.

I don't think it's appalling at all. A little work and t cut and that'll look lovely, and can only go up in value.

Fixed the idle issue - just adjusted it!

On this forum, "appalling" is meant as a compliment.  I agree about it going up in value though - with a good T-cut and valet it'd be worth at least £75. ;-)

Seriously though Panda, that thing was a bucking fargain and I'm slightly envious.

Utterly miserable.

A Most Excellent purchase Sir.

Purchased some seats to replace the frankly awful / filthy ones in there

Another daytime snap

Nice pair of cars you've got there. The Peugeot is one of the smartest I've seen in a long time, and should provide good reliable transport. The Suz is a bit different, economical, cheap and something you can steadily tinker with to improve. Excellent stuff.

I want to give it the full Vulgalour Treatment Experience tm.  That is not a euphemism.

That looks quite good now, and also looks like it would benefit from a good t-cut (or similar) ... there's no way you'd catch me breaking a sweat t-cutting a £73 motor though.

Very smart!

Looks lost in a normal parking space, I like the dealer sticker in the back window which is just about the width of the car!

Posted

That does look good!  Odd question perhaps, but what's the boot and back seats like?

Posted

As in size wise or condition?

I have the back full of junk at the moment, will take some pics when I can. Very similar to a Daihatsu Cuore or a Perodua Nippa. Adequate for seating a couple of people, but you wouldn't want to spend hours in there. Boot adequate size too. Back seats fold down to create loads of room.

As for condition - minging is a word that pops to mind, but I'm working on that.

Tidied up the gearstick surround with a lick of paint too.

It's impressive how much better this is looking, I noticed you had it up for sale on Gumtree so perhaps it's not a keeper.
