That pickup is pretty sexy - I would love it. However even if I was an eccentric millionaire I wouldn't pay that.

Mind you, there can only be a handfull left, and maybe only a couple in that condition.

It is probably the best known of all the early x-types, and there's bound to be an x-type freak out there who'd want it even at this money.

The tennis signatures are a shame, but I quite like the paint job.

Seen in the local paper at my mums today. Bear in mind there are almost never old cars in the local here its almost an event when I come across one.

"1979 Volvo 244DL. Very good condition, very low miles, PAS, 12 months MOT and 12 months tax."

Etc.

There was even a small photo.

"£4350"

There is a tatty T-reg MK2 Escort four-door near me that I've seen a few times, it only caught my eye because it is in truly shite condition, standard 1.3 Popular with a brown vinyl roof and patches of rust/primer all over the place. I found out where it lived (THE roughest area of Southend) and drove past last night to see a for sale sign in the windscreen. £2150? Seems a lot for such a tatty old shed, although I do know about the "OSF YO" tax.

Now i know a RS1800 is a very desirable OSF but i could think of nicer cars to spend £45000 on!

Nnnnnnng. That's gorgeous.

That looks like a tidier example of the one I turned down the chance to buy for £350 back in 1988.

It wont be that one though, when he couldn't get a buyer for it we took it down to a car park in New Brighton and bounced it off every bollard and rock before rolling the miss firing heap up an embankment. Cracking fun!

Quite why Ford can't use a bit of the Halewood factory they still own to knock out RWD heritage shells for 4k a pop is a mystery. There are as many Scrotes needing a re-shell as there are MGBs, TR6s.....

Oh, I'd be sooooo happy if they did that.... and sooooo skint.

I'm going out on a limb here, and saying I quite like that. I am a bit of a purist, especially when it comes to something as lovely as a Guilietta coupe, but that does look like an authentic late 50s show rod - paint scheme, grille, wheels - I think it all works quite well and will probably look HOT when it's done.
