It is probably the best known of all the early x-types, and there's bound to be an x-type freak out there who'd want it even at this money.

 

The tennis signatures are a shame, but I quite like the paint job.

There is a tatty T-reg MK2 Escort four-door near me that I've seen a few times, it only caught my eye because it is in truly shite condition, standard 1.3 Popular with a brown vinyl roof and patches of rust/primer all over the place. That looks like a tidier example of the one I turned down the chance to buy for £350 back in 1988.

 

It wont be that one though, when he couldn't get a buyer for it we took it down to a car park in New Brighton and bounced it off every bollard and rock before rolling the miss firing heap up an embankment. Cracking fun!

I'm going out on a limb here, and saying I quite like that. I am a bit of a purist, especially when it comes to something as lovely as a Guilietta coupe, but that does look like an authentic late 50s show rod - paint scheme, grille, wheels - I think it all works quite well and will probably look HOT when it's done.
