That Mexico...

it has recently had a full nut and bolt rebuild with no stone left unturned

yet is apparently

one of the best and most original Mk.1 Mexicos

Best maybe, but original? Really? Part of the sales patter is the lack of original nuts and bolts!

Ah, pet peeve - the complete misunderstanding of the word original. My wife's Mini looks fairly original in that it replicates what it looked like when new to a certain extent, but it's not original as most of it has been replaced.Concours cars are not original either - ruined perhaps...

A bill for £1500 just a year ago to change all fluids and carry out major service including Battery.

There can't be more that seven moving parts on one of these - how can any sort of service cost that much????

Oh, hang on. A year ago - wasn't that the height of the great brake fluid drought of 2008, when you had to pay £75 per fluid ounce?

I don't understand this. Ok, I'd be utterly mortified if the thing was scratched or dented but other than that it's useable. I used a Mk2 RS2000 Mk2 that was that tidy every day for six months, then sold it on for good profit back in the early 90's. Spent a lot of time cleaning it, but it was strangely enjoyable to do.Is it ruined because it's now £24,995?I'm only asking because I'm doing pretty much the same thing to my Mk2 Sport (except I'm not retrimming the bloody thing, and I'm not going to be asking for anywhere near £25k for it when it's done. After all, I don't want to ruin an unusable old Escort by making it as close to perfect as I can....

Other than the engine, that's fucked, the only original body panel left on my Amazon is the NS front door. And that's from another car because the original was fucked and the skin pretty much fell off.

From www.regtransfers.co.uk that's where.

My mate was "offered" £850 for his wanky NornIrn reg from there.

LIL6711 is the number.

If that makes more than £150 on the open market I will EAT MY PANTS.

(they also offered me £450 for DBZ3848 and £850 for HRH339V, neither of which ever got a sniff of interest)

Perhaps offer HRH339V to the Queen?

I had a heated discussion with my mate over this, I wanted to buy his Anglia which is paggered but has a good number (number does not interest me) but he thinks he can ask £1500 for a car thats shagged with no MOT and no likley hood of getting one unless you do a naughty with another car  Anyways he said the same thing that regtransfers or whoever offered £1000 for the plate - he wont listen to me when i state his car needs to be MOT'd & Taxed Regtransfers etc dont actually buy the plate, they just offer to sell on there website and take a commision.Suffice to say the Anglia is still parked up but wont last much longer  If it was that easy to sell the plate why dont all these ebayers sell the plate before they list it -- oh, because they realise they dont get cash for em and it's just a commision scam ...

Now then, obviously I'm going to like this a lot. It's a 2.0GSX so will have lots of toys, and I don't mind the auto on these. Nice that is is a pre-facelift one, though the downside is that means the engine is carb-fed rather injected like the later 2-litres. And it's only done 26k. But £2500?!?

Similarly, I found an E-reg Sunny ZX coupe on there with cheapo wheeltrims for £2300. Both make an interesting comparison with the £2.5k Celica Trigger posted from C&C...

I find it helps to set the price, then it eliminates all the stuff which is so expensive that you have to ring up for some reason. Must be a pain being rich, no one will tell you what the price of a car is.
