Hasn't that Montego been offered at a similarly bonkers price a few times now? The reg and mismatched door rings a bell, as does the location for the pictures. Might have dropped all of £500 since the owner's last dabble with recreational drugs though.

I doubt it cost £75k to build, but as an example my 1300 Sport is getting 300 odd hours of restoration. How much does the average bodyshop charge? £30 an hour? There's £9k if you get the work done professionally in the UK. Plus parts.Dry sumped 200 bhp Pinto - give him the benefit of the doubt - £3k with pumps, carbs, etc. Aeroquip hoses etc £300, Suspension £1000, Atlas LSD axle £800, Quaife box £800, Minilites £600, roll cage £500 or so, brakes £500. Yada yada yada. It all adds up.I reckon that cost £25k to build. £45k is taking the piss somewhat.

I dunno - if I owned a garage/bodyshop and some guy said he wanted to spend up to £45k on a Mk1 Escort, I'd make sure it cost £45k!Wherever there's a fool and his money, there'll be someone to part them.

Aye, that Montego was up for around the same price a while back.

It sounds like the owner just wants it to go to an enthusiast, rather than being fully mental. I wonder if he'd budge significantly on the price if he knew it was going to a good home? I hope he isn't deluded, as it'll just end up festering away otherwise.

Vuaxhall Viva Estate with 1800 manta engine and dodgy bodykit, Yours for the bargain starting price of £5800!

That viva estate looks like manta, if you squint.Peope do seem to be charging more for vauxhalls, there seems to be quite a few optimistic chevette sellers.

Wonder what kind of lash up is under the bonnet? Conveniently no pics I notice. For that money he could have at least put some decent wheels on it and sourced a Magnum dash
