£25 for a holed exhaust?

I've got a Polo head in the shed with all the valves mashed into it, I'll get a fortune for that!

Does the Granny come complete with sick bags in the seat pockets?

Dash looks interesting though, but speedo and fuel are really about all you need! Oh, and an oil light!

Perhaps the Granada pilot has exposed a niche market for 'Comfort Dials'

Sorry but he has turned a nice clean and 80stastic dashboard into shit.

I know he was an Aircraft engineer but so what? Im a Telecommunications Engineer and I havent slung half a dozen Dial phones and Trimphones all over the dash of my Scimitar.

Thank fuck he didnt work in the sewers.

I think it looks ace. (But only if they all work.)

FULL SERVICE HISTORY!

ALTHOUGH THE ODOMETER READING SHOWS THE MILES THE CAR MAY HAVE DONE WE CAN NOT IN ANY WAY GUARANTEE THE READING OF THE MILEAGE TO BE CORRECT

So why don't you use the "full service history" to verify the mileage instead of trying to deceive prospective buyers into thinking that this car hasn't driven over 200,000 clicks?

I remember spotting that when it was in Rochester. Still, what an awesome paint scheme

Looking at the Granada dash I actually quite like it. Looks like a decent job and not wildly obviously an after-market one. Yeah that number of dials is probably a little OCD but it looks a tidy effort.

Posted

I wonder if he's fitted an airspeed indicator and altimeter? Also, chrome arches. Why? Not just on this car but in general.

For 9 grand I might want original Ford mats and not some carpet tiles from X-S stock discount warehouse.

Posted

So will he take £40k, hand over half that to some garage and have it restored for you?

Or is it being done now and he'll take £40k when it's done?

The first is stupid, the second is REALLY stupid.

Offer him £39500 but only if it's ready for collection this weekend.

For 40k I'd expect 5 mint, delivery mileage Singer Vogues.

This advert pretty special, the twat selling this for nearly £20000 is using the same shite photos from the ebay listing which he bought it from for £1500! It's the biggest load of bollocks I've seen all year on ebay.

I sent him this....It is said that there are probably about 200 of these still on the road in New Zealand...there were at least 4 minta's in the town where I lived..u sir do not know the planet u are dreaming on.

There's two of these sitting in a shed over here, both autos, both ex taxis. I'll let the owner know he's sitting on £80,000..........

This seven grand beauty at 60,000 miles has been serviced an incredible six times in 22 years!

The sixth service was when some idiot managed to spend £4500 on a service and a respray. A friend of mine's business charges £700 for a VW Campervan metallic respray, so I'm not sure how that "restoration" bill had been totted up..

Really? That seems cheap to me. Presumably not including prep? What would he charge for an XJ40 Jag out of interest? Just to depress myself at how much I paid....

Posted

He was showing me pictures on his phone and as he's the paintshop guy he was very proud of some T2 thing that they resprayed all over in gunmetal. He quoted £700 as what the customer was charged, and I can only assume they did the prep too to ensure the job was done properly. Garage near York somewhere.

Ok, it's quite nice - but is this ex-rental Granada really worth £4.5k?

Rangey Now amended to a thoroughly reasonable* £3000.

Verdict: Clueless Badgerfelcher.

I imagine the price change was in response to a number of queries regarding the extent of his crack addiction.

The cortina has been in a one family owner since new in 1982 at a cost of £5895, yes that's right in 1982 the year magyg thatcher was born

What??!!

Also, the Ark Royal was launched in 1981, not 1982.

Probably not that far out.

Good ones command 30-40k now. So even at this asking price, which IMO is quite negotiable, you'd roughly have a 10k budget to repair it without your total investment exceeding the total value of the car once finished. If you play it smart, it could yield you a few bags profit.

Blimey, good luck getting that into shape for £10k
