I think that purple Helmet could be a regular on this thread, he's got a horrible chrome-arched Granada up for £5k and this:

LOL! Well spotted Meg.

Anyone who thinks they can buy something at an auction, add a mark-up of 250% and then flog it straight on, is is clearly an amateur. Its just not how the world works!!! Why dont they put it up for £1500 and give themselves a remote chance of a profitable sale. Idiots man.

No, its a psychological trick often used by traders. people won't buy it at 800 quid because they think it'll be shit for that money. give it a good polish, a thorough valet and wop a big chunk on to the asking price. "gosh, that's dear, it must be good!"

Its like asking 2995 instead of 3000. it looks less even though its hardly any different.

he's right, it does work. Way back when I used to run a shop if I got an item marked at £5 it wouldn't sell, put the same thing out at £6.50 and people thought it was a bargain. Madness.

Posted

No, it's getting cheaper

It's been for sale for months now (you've already seen it in this thread, on p.183  ) and was originally offered at £35k

Bargain.

How on earth is anyone who lives in a rented council house going to get the £8000 they need to park this up on their garden after 6 months? He needs to ask about 700 or so, as thats about the most you can get on a payday loan.

I find this very annoying. I drove one of these back when they were current and they are great fun. The 2.0 petrol engine is the same as fitted to contemporary toyota cars, in the same state of tune with a twin choke carb and they go like stink, able to easily axle tramp there way out of junctions on full throttle and with a kwality old skool column gear change. They blew 2.0 transits into the weeds.

I've wanted one for years and they are all priced like this regardless of condition. I was informed why by my south african mate.

In Jo'berg they are known as KT's and worth an absolute fortune; that's where they all end up.

But look at it!! is that 2.5 grands worth!!??

Have they still got black taxis in SA?

Take one relatively undesirable car, polish it a bit, post a few poncey words in the description and advertise it for about 4.3 times what it's worth.
