One for each foot, eh Vin?

Optimus Prime would be so much cooler if he'd bought Fiat Pandas from Brantanos.

OMG now can haz stay for lunch on Satirday

You'll get to see the earliest remaining Stellar in the UK in that case. If that appeals...

ETA early afternoon, depending on breakdowns.

Having a look at route choice and wondering how nice is the back road from Rhayader rather than following the A470 / A44?

Posted

MUCH nicer. Just be wary of lambs, and take it easy on the single-track sections. If you're feeling especially hungry for great views, ignore the signed mountain road to Aber from Rhayader and drive past the dams. They were in full overflow earlier this week but may have stopped now. That road then rejoins the mountain road later - a spectacular junction in itself.

I think I did that on my dirt bike last weekend. We also rode through devils bridge. Looking forward to going back again

Top tip, may well go for it and enjoy the extra 20 mins

The route from Andy's place to shitefest will be https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Birmingham+B21+9PA,+UK/52.375685,-3.8490321/@52.3051434,-3.0843486,77829m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m29!4m28!1m25!1m1!1s0x4870bd2a11a50eb3:0x5c1816a2bc3d967!2m2!1d-1.9341218!2d52.5116696!3m4!1m2!1d-2.24927!2d52.2705712!3s0x4870f3e95eb79c7b:0x768c612ee99a1c85!3m4!1m2!1d-2.476679!2d52.3168429!3s0x48705de1cad03a6f:0x6862a2686c93a6e8!3m4!1m2!1d-2.6740662!2d52.2553751!3s0x4870415819787353:0xad28d5b1074a249a!3m4!1m2!1d-3.5919609!2d52.2689199!3s0x486fc07f8630883d:0xaaedc17370a59c12!1m0!3e0

so we should be there about mid day on Saturday.

I imagine you did the Golf Links trail that starts near Rhayader and comes out further along that road. I like that lane. I don't like dirt bikes though as so often they're sooo bloomin' noisy! Says he who owns a 2CV...

I dunno. Two-strokes yap a a bit too. Mind you, so do 4x4s with straight-through exhaust and huge mud terrain tyres. All are quieter than the Eurofighters dog fighting overhead this evening...

A couple went over while we were riding. Not gonna lie , a little poo came out. Like a gorilla s finger

You're welcome to bring booze, but the hotel has a fine range of ales, Welsh ciders and other things. They're letting us use the field for nowt, so it'd be good to support them. Some of the liquids are available by the bottle.

Midges are about, but we've been sitting out this evening without being eaten alive. The site is some distance above the local rivers. They only tend to get really bitey later in the year. Some anti-midge defences may be sensibe.

I'll be bringing ales as currency for the swappages, but am more than happy to support the hotel by drinking theirs. From the barrel is better than a bottle too. Will also bring mozzie spray, ta for the tip Ian.

I'm driving to Worcester after work on Friday and staying at the in-laws, which is good as I won't have a mega early start on Saturday and should be there by midday.

I'm not going to be chasing people into the bar with a stick I should point out. I'm hardly loaded with cash myself, and accept that some like to bring their own drink - as indeed some will do with food. The only thing I'll be policing is dunny-fee. Well, ok, I won't be checking who has used it, but I will try and co-ordinate collecting the dosh!

Woop woop its the sound of da (poo) police....

Happy to spunk it large at hotel bar,and may stand assembled shite crew a round of Babychams or snowballs,  but have not read whole thread of hugeness so did not know if there was some planned drink up elsewhere or what.   Thanks for the info, all systems go.

I shan't be at Shitefest, that's for definite, but I'd like to ask a favour of those of you that are there.  I think one or two of you might have met Mum, I'm not sure, but anyway she's a brilliant woman, equally at home complaining about popular people as she is helping to change an engine in a Cortina, the oil in a Datsun, stopping the front bonnet on an Estelle decapitating Dad and helping set the timing on a Princess.  Mum's a shitist through and through and has helped loads with my pointless old crocks in recent years and Dad's even more hopeless old crocks in years past.

So, I know she'd appreciate it if you raised a bar of chocolate, a pie, a pint, a port & lemon, or whatever happens to be in your hand at the time at Shitefest weekend.  She was also fond of things being on fire, so if you feel like setting something on fire - in a responsible way, of course, no torching DW's pad - or perhaps just lighting a candle, that'd be tops too.

This is all to turn recent horrible events into the biggest Mum-central party ever, an event we're spreading as far and wide as possible and which should be visible from space.  I hope she's really, really embarrassed at us all making such a massive fuss.

There are plans for a fire, and also a visit to a fire museum (sort of).

Oh no, don't tell my brother. He becomes rather silly in the presence of actual flames.

To be honest, I haven't done much about organising the fire bit. Mr The Cat was talking about bringing wood at some point, but he's not turning up until Saturday. Fortunately, it is rather unsettlingly mild at the moment. Scorchio!

Washed, hoovered and now loaded my shit heap up, i suspect that now means it will breakdown.

Feeling mildly jealous.  I didn't put myself down to come as I didn't think I'd be able to get time off work - I'm in the middle of a project at the minute, but the next phase has now been delayed so I could have booked tomorrow off.  Weather looks like it might be good too.  Unfortunately I'm now skint after buying the Delica and T&T'ing the Rover of Doom, so will have to give it a miss.

Shame you can't get tomorrow of work Dave, you could have came up with me if you wanted.

Tank brimmed, oil and tools packed. No washing or detailing has happened, but an autoshite satnav (mouldy road atlas) has found its way onto the passenger seat.
