We haven't had a car ad thread for a few weeks now so I thought I'd start this one.

Feel free to contribute your favourites from the past and present.

Here's an example of a typical African Fiat owner.

Got to be this wonderfully dated and cheap advert for British Leyland:

Cavalier Mk2, better by design:

And for all those modern TV adverts that barely show the car at all, this one for the Xantia is a superb example of how to do it properly.  I even kind of want one now.

Ford admitting that the Mk3 - Mk4 Escort change was pretty much some lights, a new dashboard, and placca bumpers.

I'm on my phone and not smart enough/cba to post a link but I always liked the mk3 cav crash test adverts with peter Gabriel's sledgehammer.

Love this:

And surely the best advert for a slow selling car:

All over the telly at the time. I remember Jasper Carrott doing a version of it on his show at the time,  involving a front door mat, a matchbox superkings and lighter fluid or similar...

I love how that advert, which markets the Cavalier as being a good buy on the basis of its GR8 safety equipment, ends with a disclaimer pointing out that half of it doesn't actually come as standard!

I know the car isn't very Autoshite, but when I first saw these three adverts when I was twelve they left a big impression.

Still don't want the car though.
