Finally my brother collected my latest V-twin purchase for me (I really should get another van). Not sure when it will be dry enough to give it a long run though-roads around here are still coated in that black salt stuff.

Also fitted a much taller screen to the XEVO, with the result that I now sit I'm a completely silent bubble with no wind noise in my helmet. And I find myself much more relaxed after my commute to and from work.

think my arse would fall off if i did 5k on one in two weeks tho :D

I did just over 8,000 miles on a Suzuki VX800 over 8 weeks there (7 of those weeks I spent on the South Island)-doing that distance on one of those would turn me mad. I returned the VX with practically bald tyres, a noticeable oil leak from the rear drive hub, and brake pads down to 1mm of material left. Hated the bike, loved the roads.

Much as I want to ride the Aprilia, I think you are right in keeping it off road until Easter. Give me plenty of time to strip it and clean every part of it. Or just put a cover on it and hook it to a battery charger (which is more likely.....)

I am SO jealous. These were the poster bike for me growing up. At 17 I desperately wanted an RS125 but dad forced me to get a car instead (good move tbf)

There are a pair of derelict RS125s locally I have my eye on but I need to finish the Honda first....

Is the 250 a Suzuki engine a la RGV?

Yes the Aprilia agents used to order Suzuki parts when Aprilia would only replace certain parts under warranty - one new piston and rings for example..

The engine is basically the RGV unit, but with Aprilia's own barrels, heads and pistons. The frame was made by Benelli, so bit of a bitsa.

I also have a Mito 125, which hauls me around fine with it's 30+ horsepower. It took a bit of getting used to compared to my other 125's (both twist and go scooters), let alone my litre plus bikes.

Anyone for a parts section bargain?

Tempted myself but I'm going to try and stick to buying runners rather than projects.

£10.50 with 1 hour left, can't see it going much above £50.

Thankfully that's too far away from me, because I'd have certainly bought it otherwise & I don't have room for it.

Likewise, by the time you add on £100 or so for a courier back oop north, it's less of a bargain.

I fitted a much taller screen to the Xevo scooter I commute on. I have said that the result is that I now have no wind noise in my helmet. what I found out this morning in the drizzle is that I CANT SEE THROUGH THE EFFING THING!

Anyone have an idea of what I can apply to the screen to make the water bead up and blow off? It's a plastic screen so stuff like RainX doesn't work very well at all (at least not on visors). Maybe one of the electric wipers for visors I saw Chinese traders touting around at the Milan show a few years ago would do. Or an old Landy one?

I had an RGV250 with the banana swingarm and two pipes on one side (VJ23?) and it was fan-bloody-tastic! Bought from a bike dealer after it ate its powervalves but was otherwise immaculate and after much discussion on Suzuki forums got it all back together and loved it long time! Mate of mine rode it once and declared it; 'A scary death trap machine!'. I also had an Aprilia RS125 which I bought for a song as it was tatty, did it up and sold it for a great profit but it surprised me how much fun it was to ride with 30 odd HP. Always fancied an RS250 but never found one that was good.

VJ22. The 23 was the later Jap only 70-degree v twin from 97-, both lush and deffo out of my price range thesedays!

Love my Mito-its feels like a big bike, with proper sized tyres, not the just bigger than push bike sized ones on CG125's and the like.

Try Demon Shine. Worked for me on the tall screen on my BMW K1100LT, water just beaded off.

In other news I seem to have aquired a Bandit 600S today :)

Having two sub 125cc scooters, I'd agree but the Xevo is 400cc (albeit now wearing 125 badges) and over 100mph obtainable easily.

More concerning was filtering down the A406/A13 and The Highway into work practically blind.

I really should have thought of applying some polish when I fitted it.

Ahh I didn't realise you had a nearly adult engine in one.

I still don't get on with screens after the same issue on a Pan.

I had a tall Givi screen fitted on my 400 Burgman. I tried all sorts of polishes and potions, but a satisfactory solution was only achieved by hacksawing 3" off it so I could see over the thing.

That sounds a bit brutal, granted, but marking the cut with masking tape and making the edge nice and smooth with emery paper meant you'd never know I'd been near it. It was still a massive improvement on the stock item in terms of wind noise and weather protection.

^^^^ I'll see if polishes make any difference, otherwise the Dremel will come out. I added on a blade to the normal screen which I could still see over. Maybe a few cms cut off and the blade attached may be the answer if less drastic measures don't work.

But I'm a kid at heart!

When I had the Pan with the touring screen on I found if I sat up slightly straighter I could see over the top of it & upto about 130 was comfy in the rain...

My back got soaked though as it all curled around & hit me from behind.

As it was disgustingly warm today I went out for a toddle. I can report three things  -

1) it's slippy on the cold wet bits

2) squires still charges a fortune for a crap cold cuppa

3) I really should remember to pump my tyres up before going out

I sold the Hayabusa on Thursday as I didn't like it, bought this utterly filthy GSX650F on Friday to take it's place.

I don't think it's been cleaned in its 9 years, I've already spent 6 hours getting it into a state Hooli would call clean, still needs several hours more yet! cheap though, needs the wheels powdercoating, thinking of changing them to white :D
