rml2345 Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 Into the car park... Another show, another nice 240 in the car park Out ratlooking the ratlookers... This caused much exciting type excitement Another 240 in estate FLAVA. I've become something of an old Volvo perv recently] Metro was a wee smasher MASSIVE R17 Sterling was nice The new Dacia Sandero in base model shock The evergreen Cavalier
rml2345 Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 Back to the show and a few bits and bobs to finish... I followed this Wolseley into the show by accident. It was quite lovely actually Don't care if it's shite or not, this Chrysler Wimbledon was car of the show for me MOAR BEIGE MK1 Fiesta was the star of a buyers guide in a magazine. No idea which one though Yellow XJS buggered off before good photos could be obtained so have this green one instead Show finished and I managed to lose my glasses because I R MONG. Now the final spots... Maestro only lives at the other end of the street but I didn't know about it as I'm never up there This R19 appears to have collapsed suspension. It is also competing for most spotted R19 in central Scotland FUTURESHITE. First Duster is spotted Quite a disappointing end really. Sorry about that. aldo135 1
Split_Pin Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Delectable update, don't know which is my favourite, probably the hedge - find ADO16 because that's how I remember them looking in the early 80's. Despite the owner being a complete philistine, I bet that denzilled Merc SL goes like the shits with that lump in. My mate's dad went through a phase of buying E-class's with this engine option in the 1990's and they were probably capable of flying to the moon!
rml2345 Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 I particularly liked that rough ADO16 as well as it made a change from all the shiny stuff that usually turns up at old car events. Never heard the Merc run unfortunately, although I did follow a proper V8 one out the site and it sounded absolutely lovely. A big diesel makes sense in an E-Class as it provides lots of wafty torque and you don't have to listen to it. Pretty good to live with then?Spotted an SL going home on the back of a truck as well...
rml2345 Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Bit of a mini update just in case I'm one of the ones that have written nothing of value to the forum ever. It's not like anyone wants to read about 14 months with a 740GL, is it?Anyway, up to date spots for you; BMW E30. Muddy but quite tidy otherwise OMG NOT BANDED PINEAPPLE STANCE YO! Etc. Even for someone who doesn't like VWs this was nice White W124 with stick on chrome tat it doesn't deserve For the truck fetishists. Tin front AEC Mercury was lovely Large Dangerous Van Too old to be shite? It did have squint headlamps... All Vauxhalls are NOT shit Leyland Olympian Superleggera in the centre... This R8 sported some interesting* body repairs. Good to see it still on the road though... The massivley scruffy and quite howkitt 760 Turbo of cms206. It goes bloody well though Series III (?) fire engine and that Velox again Gratuitous picture of Scotoshite Volvos No. 34 Utterly hopeless photo of a 940 estate taken purely because of the mangled front wing I was wondering whether to take this at all, then thought of the many on eBay with "Just needs new engine" in the listing... This one has made it as far as Aldi! BEST SPOT EVER! Sorry about the hopeless photos though... I was already getting some queer looks from the two occupants so didn't get any closer. That's it for another update. I'll try to spot more shite and report back...
Wilko220 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Maybe they were having an affair or something... Some stupendously good spots in this thread, RML.
rml2345 Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 I'd love for that to be true now actually... Some swarthy French chap in a Traction and a sordid love affair with a minx in an early 4 or something.
Partridge Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 KWOLOTY.But is the owner of that late 800 trying to tell us something with his numberplate?
Lord Sterling Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I have just fallen off my chair in awe.......... There used to be one of these near Kingstanding in Birmingham, always in the same place in the carpark near a block of flats, but further away to the back of the carpark (it might be in my spotted thread) same colour. Black on a G-plate, in fact, it looks exactly the same as the other car, just with plates changed. Not seen it for a while though
rml2345 Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 KWOLOTY.But is the owner of that late 800 trying to tell us something with his numberplate? If he is I don't get the reference... Was it quite as rough as that one Lord S? It appears to have wheelarches hewn from solid filler like some medieval car bodywork craftsman.
rml2345 Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 With it being Wednesday Eve I thought this deserved an update. This E34 was properly nice This early primer covered Clio less so, but probably much rarer Too shite for Autoshite Black Placca bumpered 306! Corolla in actually noticed SHOCK One for the MK3 Transit fetishists Another unmolested Golf MK2 Espace was a bit exciting as I hadn't seen one for yonks R was mega tidy Now for a mini report from the Retroshite Falkirk meet, which wasn't a bad wee afternoon out bar the cold. Unfortunately I spent quite al ot of time gassing and missed quite a few interesting cars, including a brilliant Cortina estate.SOZ. I liked this Lupo. Does that make me a bad person? The chap who had it got locked out of it though and spent quite a while scrabbling about with a bit wire trying to get back in. The Scotoshite contingent Pink brake drums. Classy* Two Cecil & Larter Volvos meet! What are the odds? 240 estate was lovely too. 200, 700, 900 and V-Hundered That's it really, it ends mainly visually... phil_lihp, CreepingJesus, Angrydicky and 4 others 7
Ghosty Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Two observations:Behind the povo 306 there's a Nissan Puke with a plate ending in JUK. Ugh.That Lupo has seats from an RX-8 in it.
Split_Pin Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I didn't go in the Corsa because I thought I'd get a frosty reception from owners of stanced BMWs but it seems like there were much newer cars there than mine after all.
DodgyBastard Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 You would've fitted in with the central belt cruisers... is that stanced bmw owners comment aimed at me?
rml2345 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 I hadn't noticed that before Ghosty but now you've mentioned it I can't stop. Wonder if that Lupo had some serious go to match the looks then? You should've come down Iain! There's always dinner at Cumbernauld the ebd of this month (shamelessly early plug).
rml2345 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 It's been a while since this was updated but it's been winter and a bit cold. Also, there hasn't been much to spot, so the two things are probably related.Anyway! Here's one or two from lately; this Tigra made a pleasant site Scotoshite in more Volvos SHOCK And an MG Black is an excellent colour for hiding large rusty patches on E34s Late Space Wagon. One of the best car names ever IMHO This Atki 411 caused much excited pointing and abandoning the shops for 20 minutes whilst I had a look round the fair Futureshite. Probably the best* view of a Ssangyong Rodius ever captured Scotoshite February. Non Volvos included a Hyundai Coupe that I couldn't get out of Theres 0% Shite content in this, but it's a nice photo Hadn't seen an Escort van in a while This one had signs of creeping tinworm so may not be around much longer It ends mainly with peanut butter brickwall, Spiny Norman, Bucketeer and 1 other 4
aldo135 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Don't know how I've missed all these updates Adrian! Brilliant spots mate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Cavcraft 1
rml2345 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Cheers Alan! Spotted threads disappeared for a bit but seem to be coming back in fashion again. Hopefully with the mild weather there will be more worth splitting now as well. I was passed by a B12 Sunny the other day so there's plenty of hope,,, aldo135 1
Split_Pin Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 How did you find the peanut butter at making the bumpers black?
Split_Pin Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 You would've fitted in with the central belt cruisers... is that stanced bmw owners comment aimed at me?Sorry, just noticed this, and I forgot that you owned a BMW at the time! It wasn't aimed at you at all, just me not thinking before I spoke as usual!
rml2345 Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 How did you find the peanut butter at making the bumpers black?Probably one of the best bumper restoring things I've ever used. It requires a wee bit more effort but the results are well worth it.It smells brilliant as well and no one bugs you as they think you've gone daft. cms206 1
Split_Pin Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Ha that last part has sold the idea to me! I'll just sing a Daniel ODonnel sing while I'm applying it for maximum peace from everyone else. CreepingJesus and rml2345 2
rml2345 Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 Leaving for Shitefest in 10 hours, so of course it's the best time to update the spotting thread with spotted spots of spottings.Spotted. This Delica was better photographed by Andy CMS on the way to collect current Volvo. The rent a wreck. Acceptable if a little bland. Also wider, taller and heavier than a Volvo 740 This was awaiting a saviour at U-Pull It in Inverkeithing. Did anyone rescue it? So was this. Looked tidy from a distance as you couldn't see how rotten it was. Dissolving Calibra I LOVE BRISTOLS Scabby W124 is possibly still there. Paisley Auto Breakers if you want to find out. Silver 940 yielded some useful bits. Grille returned for DA LOLZ. ProgRocker, Spiny Norman, Jim Bergerac and 1 other 4
rml2345 Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 Part 2. Are 944s still shite? Couple more for the truck pervs. Hadn't seen a Strato in ages. T must be pretty late on one of these? Hadn't seen a Previa in ages either. Since snapping this one though I've seen at least three more. FIGURES. DONT WUN IT BUMPD M8 First time I'd actually seen one of these bendy transporters in the metal. They look dodgy as fuck. Escort looked like someone still cared about it. Strange thing to find at Sports Car Breakers nowadays. This looked like it had been upside down in a canal for a year or two. Dead Escort van with strange one piece rear door. Looked like it had been Barried before arriving. Finish up this time with a French Volkswagen LT that looked quite lost. Bucketeer, aldo135, Spiny Norman and 1 other 4
Cavcraft Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Fab stuff. is that Strato really one of them there Daf 95s underneath? It looks quite similar and I think it was about this era that badge engineering was kicking off.
rml2345 Posted May 15, 2014 Author Posted May 15, 2014 I think they only share the Cabtec cab, along with a few other truck makers whose names escape me. Cabs cost a bloody fortune to design and tool up for so it made sense to form a sort of syndicate like the "Club of Four" deal that produced the Volvo F series and Renault Midliner cabs. There's a good bit about the Cabtec on the Commercial Motors website; http://www.commercialmotor.com/big-lorry-blog/-nostalgia-time-again--plus-a
rml2345 Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Christ, this hasn't been updated since May and I've spotted quite literally some interesting* things since then. Probably. One of those Figaro things. Appeared not to be made of rust. Rover Metro with bonus Silvia content. Meat auction truck shite. Polski Fiat with extra Polski. Bongo Friendee complete with Auto Free Top. It looks like the lower half has been painted in emulsion or something. Old Norton. No idea what sort. Spot of the year so far! One for Billy Annual bus museum pilgrimage. Hadn't seen this one before. Volvo powered Leyland Tiger. Pleasant. Saw this being driven vigorously round the site later on. Scruffy Volvo and another bloody Previa. Since spotting that blue one months ago I've seen hundreds of the bastards. Yesterdays car of tomorrow. Last week. This just appeared somewhere. It caused much excitement. And finally, a highly questionable attempt at a commercial vehicle and a Fleur de Lys van. Bucketeer, Jim Bergerac, Skizzer and 2 others 5
Bucketeer Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Great stuff again A.Zoomed in, the guy in the Rover in the first picture is firing out one of the best disapproving looks of all eva. Angrydicky 1
Noel Tidybeard Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 the reg on the integra is a good one F411NTS
