If only someone would make a mk.2 estate in red

On that subject, of all the cars I've owned the only ones I know they make 1:43 models of (excluding race/rally versions) are the Nova, Volvo 740, mk.2 Golf, mk.4 Cortina and VR Commodore

I haven't posted here in ages, but thought my latest purchases would be of interest, all from a flea market today at Bath racecourse.

DSC00359.jpg

The two packaged Maseratis were £1 each, the rest £7 for the five.

I'm a bit disappointed in myself with the Jensen, I didn't notice the missing pillars. The Princess is very nice, though, 2200HL!

That's a bloody good deal for seven bob. Hard to tell from that photo but what make is the Capri?

Posted

That Capri looks like the Corgi one from the 90s, which turned up in yellow in A Century Of Cars. In the same Corgi series were the Mk1 Escort as saloon or van, and the Mk3 Cortina, based on the old 2-door GXL casting, but with the later rectangular headlights and fixed doors instead of opening. Good shooting, Tatmeister!

Thanks.

Folks at work just looked at me with bewilderment when I showed them the photos of the cars and other tat I bought.

Meh, what do they know. All I know is that for me a fleamarket = tat heaven!

Can't afford finance for a quality* pre-enjoyed** car from Cavcraft? Are you a 1/43 scale person who is need of cheap reliable transport? Are you a combination of both?

(*level of quality not disclosed, **may not have been enjoyed at all. ever.)

THEN BE LIKE A MUCH SMALLER CAVETTE OR CMS206 WITH THIS!

Available in a fetching maroony-redish colour in LHD 2.0GL spec - seems to be a strange mix of pre- and post-facelift gubbins on the box.

Also stuff from my shelves, as I've not contributed in this thread before...

Just noticed how long it's been since this thread was last updated, I've started collecting a few Vanguard models over the last year that I now have on display in the dining room, I thought I'd share some photos.

See you got the controversial Mk3 GXL Cortina then.

Created a right load of bother at Corgi that one.

Posted

I didn't hear about that?, I know a guy over on buysellcortina was moaning as the reg number is from his car and they never asked permission to use it, is that connected?

Posted

Essentially yes. They tried to contact either him or the previous owner but to no avail and the model is actually of the car in the spec the previous owner had it - there had been some changes apparently.

Anyway, owner gets onto Corgi and a load of retailers including us. Demanded that the retailers remove it from sale (Ha! We'd already sold out) and told Corgi that he wanted compensation as they had used 'his' registration without permission and it would make the car more likely to be stolen or some such bobbins.

I believe Corgi told him a polite version of FRO.

Odd though in that his actions seemed to make them more desirable. I think we had about 36 of them and sold them all really quickly at full rrp. There were a good few on eBay making £30 or more. Strange when the other Mk3s they've done have sold ok but not exceptionally well.

Posted

I paid £18 BIN for mine the day they came out on ebay yet they make silly money now, Over on BSC all the other members were telling him not to worry about it and to take it as a compliment and that it might make his car worth more now but the guy couldn't see it.

If Corgi had used mine I'd be over the moon!

Hey Trigger, that Red MK4 Cortina is almost identical to the ex-taxi one my uncle owned in the 1980's, bar a beige vinyl roof. Added to my want list!

I just took delivery of this today (e-bay picture from the listing):

!C!O3l!QBWk~$(KGrHqJ,!gwEzw56vUGeBNCJeiZV)!~~_12.JPG

Havent had a chance to look at it properly yet. I usually put those horrible plastic display cases up in the loft but the presentation of this model is pretty attractive.

Came all the way from France so took ages to arrive.

@Spottedlaurel

Have I managed to get hold of a built Eidai Grip Kit?

20210315_205441620_iOS.jpg.a57110c6173077a6d41c0f570b194abf.jpg

Underneath it states EIDAI CORPORATION

20210315_205432154_iOS.jpg.77aa4eca88fd674c9c1e03e9778344fe.jpg

Takes two AA cells and the motor drives a cog on the axle.  It flies!

20210315_205437387_iOS.jpg.912fcbbcfd9d7d25df25daece8f19da8.jpg

It was a 99p mis-listing.

20210315_205447859_iOS.jpg.bea9ca846fb11ca07d3a70cebb298d1c.jpg

I did tell the seller what I thought it was, but they didn't bother to change the listing to suit.  So presumably no-one else knew what is was and didn't bid

While taking the underneath photo, the motor kicked into life!  Small switch in the cut-out at bottom  is a bit loose and span the wheels in photo!  It has life to it, granted.

Certainly sounds like what they did with those old Japanese kits. I have few of those motors from the days when they were included. On the more recent issues the cog and everything is still there but the motor has to be purchased separately.

Just noticed this is a resurrection of the original SiM thread!

I thought the original SiM thread had gone down with all hands during a board move many moons ago... I'm in shock!

Any chance the threads could be merged, or is that just asking for more trouble??

Posted

I've only just realised what has happened.

I searched the forum for Eidai kits and landed in a hole

@brownnova

Sorry could this thread be locked?

I don't know the background of why there are two threads on shite tat model cars

But we only need the one I think

Posted

Christ you found the original!!!

I looked and looked for it in 2012 but could not find it so I started another. I made it 'II' in homage of this one.

Posted

Could we ask mods to merge the two threads?

While a great deal of pics from the original thread seem to have been lost in the Great Photobucket Unpleasantness, there's still some quite interesting stuff in there - might be handy to combine the two for the sake of completeness.

Having finally dredged it from the deep, it'd be a shame to let it sink to the bottom again!

I’ll have a look after work. I know it’s doable...
