It's an autoshite meme, based on some fairly bizarre claims regarding a Land Rover Defender 110 IIRC.

Nope it's a proper 4X4 hence the name - RX4! Also the diffs are a common f*ck up so to be fair, most have probably become 2 wheel drive.

 

The Scenic II Conquest which had the same plastic cladding look was a 2 wheel drive so maybe that's where you're coming from.

 

Are they decent shite though? As in affordable, cheap shite?

As opposed to just being shite, etc.

 

They are decent, so long as you buy the petrol as the dCi will grenade itself to death. Obviously just a Scenic I under all that plastic shite which is no bad thing. Relatively few issues but a bit delicate off road, differentials and driveshafts are quite common failures. Don't expect it to be a joy to drive either.
