Autoshite heaven (in Scotland)

Have you any info on the Marina TC i.e how bad it really is and a price? I really fancy that.

I'm suprised the VW bus and truck are sitting there and not been dragged out as 'authentic rat look'

If that chap had put them in a barn instead of having them festering in a wet muddy field in Scotland he would be worth some serious coin from all that.

If the for sale prices are unrealistic, it sounds like he might still be clinging onto that dream which is sadly going to elude him until such a time that most of the cars are swept up with a dustpan and brush.

However I hope some are salvageable and he agrees to sell for a reasonable price.

Im an admin on Derelict Scotland..first of all..its a private collection..not a yard..secondly..whose got a spare 100000squid to build a barn big enough to capacitate a collection of this size...thirdly...so many people are wanting to descend on this persons property like its a public pillow fight...everything was probably quite rooted when it got there anyway,,and lastly..he does sell stuff off...so just keep an eye on Ebay or wateva.. :D

Then why get them all? What is the point of hoarding all these cars if you are just going to let them rot in a field? Okay, he may get them and save them from the fragger, I don't know the ins and outs of the situation (I do not know who does and can let us know what the story is) but it seems a shame that some of them now seem well past saving and many others will have deteriorated badly being parked where they are.

There is a chap in Shropshire I think that has dozens of Imps that are all parked up in a field. Some photos cropped up online and sparked a debate* which resulted in the photos being removed and the thread deleted as some people took objection to the cars being left there. Some people were saying that he does not keep all of his imps there, just some of them others are indoors etc - to which I asked why does he need so many, can he not sell the ones on the field to enthusiasts to save them before they get too far gone? If they were too far gone for restoration when parked up and left in a field would it not have been prudent to remove the good bodywork and store it then to protect it etc.

Obviously there are arguments for and against this kind of 'saving' rare cars. My thoughts are instead of letting them languish like that offer them at a fair price to someone who might save be able to save them but like I say I don't know how they have got there, when and why and how much the asking price is for them all. But without knowing the whole situation I am sticking my neck out and saying its a shame that they are where they are.

Fair point HI..accepted...but it always seems that one mans gain is another mans pain...im not insinuating jealousy...but hes had the insight..the eccentricity..and the space to be able to accumulate this collection,,why not just celebrate it for what it is...anybody how doesnt admire a rotting collection of cars is visually impaired...in the late 70s a local property developer in Strontian brought a collection of vintage cars including Bentleys..Talbot Sunbeams..he tarped them and left them to sink into the ground over a prolonged period...it never bothered me,,even tho i was keen back then cos i used to climb under the tarps and sit in them...the 1948 Bentley still got 1000quid when he sold it all off..what remaiined in 1986..

To be fair to the guy, all his shoite still (more or less) exists at least, I bet theres cars there where despite his sub-optimal storage technology he’s still got his but everyone else, or almost everyone else, in the UK who had one has failed!

I agree that a lot of it is probably fooked like, but the very fact it still exists makes it less fooked than pretty much every other example.

the guy was a bit on the 'eccentric' side, seemed to think a lot would still run. His house looked derelict. Hes really just a hoarder with the space to store his shite.

Those two are a great collection - some cracking stuff there. Fair play to the people that own them.

That is what my ideal garden would look like. (Albeit more cortinas, granadas and escorts would be required for my taste)

Whether they're fooked or not, still nice to see them.

I personally love seeing shite like this. I like this even more than pics of naked women with cracking tits.

I think the only way of improving these images is to actually have random naked women with cracking tits walking around the yard.

But not those ones with big goofy teeth or any that look like Gail Platt from Coronation Street. I dont like those ones much.

Quit complaining that he could've stored the cars better. At least he hung on to them,

and they are all still there for people to see.

He could've done what the rest of the population does and weigh them in as soon as scrap hits £200/ton.

And I think it's fantastic that they will sell the odd part here and there. Bonus really, for us tat drivers.

And on that bombshell, (as clarkson says, in every fecking episode.) Is there any orion mk2 variety in either yard?

I need a rear bumper for mine. Not many pop up on ebay these days - and i haven't saw one in a yard near me for donkeys.

I noticed in the first yard there was a 4-door bluey/silvery scrote mk4/orion mk2, but couldn't distinguish whether it was an orion or escort.

Or if anyone else knows to a rear bumper for said vehicle, please get in touch - LIKE NOW. Seeing mine with a cracked bumper makes me sad.

Almost as sad as seeing goofy teeth with cracking tits. It's just wrong.

I keep pestering people on ebay who are selling orions, whether they have a spare rear bumper in their garage, but they all say no.

Between me and my bro-in-law, we have practically every spare possible for Orions - doors, wings, bonnets, bootlids, glass, engines...

...but not the bloody part I need!

Nevermind. - Amazing pictures. I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for making my night.

A friend of mine had a rented yard where him and his family worked on their current cars and basically dumped anything that failed the test etc, as you went further into the yard it had A40's, a Minor, Woleseley 18/85 whereas near the gates it was Cavalier Mk1 & 2, Granadas Montegos and the like, there was a small workshop in the middle full of new parts and panels his Dad had picked up at auctions.

I encouraged him to start selling parts and cars and we did get rid of some stuff but there were still over 20 cars in it when the owner gave notice of his intention to sell the land (the local scrap yard who were expanding jumped in first) with nowhere else to store the cars he just gave it all up, within weeks of the sale some of the best stuff(a 1600E and HC Viva for sure as I saw them) were still complete in the scrap yard, the land had been bulldozered level, the rest crushed/weighed in, the workshop had been cleared, new fencing erected and it was ready for use as a stand alone unit (yard expansion my arse!)

I don't really see him much these days, I spent a lot of my "free" time there trying to help him realise the potential of what he had but he really couldn't bring himself to part with a lot of what was there because it had happy memories for him,it wasn't going anywhere and he didn't need the money!

Some of those cars have been off the road since they were nearly new - the grey Yugo went off the road in 1991 say DVLA - when it was only 2 years old! The H plate Skoda Rapid was only 3 when it was parked up. Why would you buy a 2 or 3 year old car and leave it in a field?

The Alfasud (SHS751M) never even made it onto the DVLA computer. That was probably in there in 1977/8.

Could it be that they were all insurance write-offs - crashes or serious mechanical failures that weren't economical to repair, even when the vehicles were fairly new?

It's probably more likely the cars weren't used legally on the road. It's quite a remote area...

Why the secrecy?? I don't think knowing where it was would result in a mega deluge of shiters - most of whom are in Southern Englandshire anyway... plus if one or two provide spares/ get rescued as a result of being on here surely thats better than them just rotting away in secrecy?

The FSO pick-up/tractor wheel/loch in the background picture MUST feature in a 2014 calendar.

I was told by the owner not to publicly give out the location, he gave me his number to pass onto any interested parties, so far I've passed it onto one person who has given it to a group of Englandshire autoshiters who as far as I know visited today.

Everytime I see an update on this thread it makes me think about planning a trip up in the BX and loading it to the gills with useful stuff. Have to wait a bit, I suppose, but at least it's not going anywhere just yet.

Very quick update, we went yesterday and what a fantastic sight! The owner of these cars is a wonderful bloke and as for the 'secrecy' I think it is absolutely neccessary. It's not a scrap yard/ business or anything, he doesn't want to break up the cars for the same reasons any of us don't want to break up our own cars. He knows the story behind each and every one and recalls many being on the road in his ownership. As for 'nearly new' cars, more than a few came from salvage auctions, several had panel damage or fires or the like. We walked around with his nephew who must have been about 15, and in my opinion the luckiest person ever having that to grow with. Then there's the area itself: truly spectacular! Finally as has been said before some things are for sale, we have done a deal on the FSO Polonez. I would urge anybody who knows the location to keep it off public domain, ultimately if people aren't careful this could be gone. And if things went missing I cant see the guy continuing to welcome strangers like me and Steve in.
