Had some of that snow about here for a few days and all seems to be well. In saying that, I haven't been out the house since Sunday...

Sod all round here, though car is frozen up again and yesterday I half filled the tank with veg oil. If I do get a 'failure to proceed' moment though I'll borrow my lad's car as he's just back from working nights so it's nice and warm and frost free.

I'm not normally one to propose nanny-state stuff, but I think there's a case for an old-fashioned public information film aimed at fuckwits who think that 4WD makes their car safer in snowy and icy conditions. It doesn't: you still have the same brakes, the same tyres and the same lack of grip as the rest of us for the purposes of stopping and steering. 4WD makes it slightly less likely that you'll get stuck or be unable to climb a hill; it does not reduce the chances of crashing. So slow down, imbeciles!

Snow?????? Hmmm not here in sunny Kiliie erm hmm nooooo Sunny eh no Pishing wet moonson deffo that. Sunday nite weather forcast said mild went oot to car frozen. Nuts!. Scraped drivers side of the windscreen went round side of car did passenger side, as i turned on the slabs to head to the drivers seat, i felt my left foot begin to loose the battle with the ice. Next thing i knew i was falling hands and legs faling about uselessy!. Bounced painfully on me left arm!. Monday nite frost forcasr Tuesady morn. Put car cover on. Came oot to discover pishing rain! Car and car cover soaked AAAAAAAAARGH. That was repeated for the rest of the week!. Tomorrow it is supposed to be frosty. However as car is still sooking after today cover is still in boot!. Snow would be a pleasant change here!. We either appear to be getting frozen to death or drenched and blown to pieces!. Weather nah we have climate. Usually the 4 seasons in about a day!

Snow going fast here in the North of England as temps soar to 2 degrees. Nasty on Tuesday night, tottering 4x4s were all over the place and going very gingerly down the hills in this valley. Went past quite a few in wifelet's old golf, four decent snow tyres fitted. Managed a 1 in 5 uphill in a few inches of snow, these rubber compounds seem to be better than they once were. Also helps that it's an unblown diseasal. I don't usually like Golfs but my PSA stuff is all iced-shut at the moment and the door handles feel like they'll pull off if I try too hard - best ever car in the snow was the GS, 60-70-80mph quite happy on snowy roads with proper tyres thanks to low cog and cat-like tread.

Photo taken earlier this evening on steepish hill near home.

That Xantia looks so uncomfortable "Je ne suis pas une Volvo!"

Much like my Avantime. Wouldn't even let me in, window refused to drop thanks to the frost, had to take the Mégane.

You guys have all had it easy! Last Thursday night I had a brilliant time messing about on Malham Moor in OLGA. The snow was 3-4 inches deep and drifting to over knee deep in places.

I was low on fuel and OLGA kept overheating (the result of missing my weekly preventative maintenance) so couldn't stay out long.

For those of you who followed me resto thread, she performed brilliantly in the snow, but was a bit tail happy with having no weight in the boot, and I had to come home and put those good Khumo tyres on instead of the Colways, and half a dozen concrete paving slabs in the boot to sort that out! Much better with some good rubber and better weight balance. As long as I kept momentum up she would easily plough through drifts, but had to keep stopping to clear snow off the headlights!

I crunched and brought a wall down coming back down the tarn road with my front N/S corner, (whilst downshifting and engine braking in a tight left corner she got a bit tail happy), so that will be just another paint patch up for spring. A bit dented on the front corner next to the headlight but I'm not too worried, learning to bash out panels will be another useful skill to learn! Nothing too serious, just a good honest dent.

I didn't get any piccys because I had no Duracell points in my Camera. I will be better prepared next time!

Needs a bloody good wash, though I could do with getting some photos of her in that state on something other than a phone.

Pretty car Ian, the dirt adds to the look :) Makes me want another.

Well, the snow at least hides the dirt. There's green snow underneath the front of it...

Here in Buckingham we had about 8inches of snow yesterday, all roads are open but the minor ones are compacted snow. The picture is my drive from a bedroom window, who can tell what cars are there under their snow covers?
