The Hunt is over. G-L-S

I've never investigated this but, just as it is (apparently) quite common for old VW camper owners to obtain new body panels from South America, I wonder if its possible to do similar from parts of the world where the Arrow has been in production much more recently than here?

You probably already know of this place but just in case you don't...

A lot of old VWs get shipped over from drier countries,  secondhand rust free(ish) stuff from California,  South Africa and Australia and brand new ones from Brazil.

Shipping one decent old bus over will probably pay for the container so filling it and the space around it in the container with spares that you know you can sell makes the months spend scouring foreign scrapyards and the upfront cost a pretty good investment.

I was going to be a bit negative about doing the same with Hunter parts from Iran but then I remembered about thesejiane-10.jpg

I reckon with the aircooled scene tax a container load of bits and vehicles from Iran could be well worth doing for the right person.

My understanding from an email conversation I had with him earlier this year is that it is not currently possible to ship anything like this out of Iran due to the current embargoes.  Or at least he couldn't find a way.

I'm guessing that one will end going for silly money, get a dodgy MOT and plate raped.

It's been a while..

As expected, things were a little crispy in the rear arch department.

Jesus, that's some work involved there. Is that rear arch panel a purchased job or did you have to knock it up yourself?

The small repair panel in the photo is purchased that was used one one side as the rot was localised.

The other side was far worse so I found someone breaking a Sceptre with amazingly good arches.

For some reason, I thought Cavette had bought this, which is why I sung Green door in reference to his lock up garages.

Those repair jobs look amazing, better than anything I can do!

I dunno, in my day we'd have bogged this up with a Sunday Times and some cement..............youth of today, using proper metal, dunno what the world's coming to .......................

Top job, by the way

Bloody hell, you don't mess about, do you? fantastic job! can't wait to see this finished

Top work!

This and Wilko's weapon of a motor car are really giving me a horn for a Rootes Arrow, my dad had one as his first wheels but I wasn't around then.

A good friend of mine has a Firenza in need of similar work, does your garage generally do this sort of stuff or was it a bit of a 'special'?

I am full of admiration - both for the car and the impressive restoration.   Despite my usual cankered slant on the world today, there aint much wrong if stuff like this can still live.   GLS Hunter was my favourite perv at school after Suzy Quatro, most of my mates fancied Raquel Welch in a 1600E.  No contest

Great work, and what a great car. You really have done it justice. I doff my cap to you sir!
