EssDeeWon Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Good spots! Does that XR3i Cabby really need 2 parking bays? Its hardly the fuckin crown jewels. Like the bonus SD1 interior content on the last couple. Skizzer 1
Skizzer Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 Good spots! Does that XR3i Cabby really need 2 parking bays? Its hardly the fuckin crown jewels. Like the bonus SD1 interior content on the last couple. More like family jewels.  In fairness, though, parking spaces outside shops are not at a massive premium in Llanelli, so he's almost forgiven.  The world looks much nicer from the inside of an SD1
NorfolkNWeigh Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 You know that bit in Crocodile Dundee where he sees the telly in New York and says ,' I've seen tv before at a mates about 20 years ago' then he turns it on and there's a repeat of I Love Lucy on. He shrugs and says ' yeah ,that's what I saw'Â Well, this ,is the Swansea equivalent Skizzer, Magnificent Rustbucket and In The Pit 3
Angrydicky Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Love the Marina, wish they all looked like that. Skizzer 1
Skizzer Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 ^ Agreed.  I remember when they did.  I forgot the best bit!  Not a Wales spot but a London one, from Friday when I was picking up the keys to Breadman's Alfa: 1959 Rambler American in King's Cross by Skizzer, on Flickr c.1959 Rambler American by Skizzer, on Flickr  "The cheapest car built in America!" Shiny, but still an absolute peach.  Massive want.  CGSB, Angrydicky, Magnificent Rustbucket and 3 others 6
Bucketeer Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 ^^^^ What a sweetheart. Bonus foreign plated modernoshite lurking behind it in the first picture too.
Skizzer Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Time for a spotting thread update with some more London stuff, as I've been working there over the summer.  Please forgive the crap image quality on some (alright, most) of them - shooting on a camera phone in bad light and trying to be discreet but not too furtive. Firstly - modern art?  No, it's an old Master (tee hee): Renault Master by Skizzer, on Flickr I know these Saabs are everywhere, but this one had just the right level of old-money lived-in look: Saab 900 convertible by Skizzer, on Flickr  Nice.  Shiny.  Probably too nice and shiny to qualify as shite - but it's a fairly early one, and there's a bonus BMW E39 and Mercedes W203 in the background that would probably qualify as the main event on SOME people's spotting threads, naming no names   Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT by Skizzer, on Flickr This is for sale, but he wants something stupid like £7k for it.  You can get a really nice restored one for that.  I can see the council coming for it, sadly. 1934 Standard 12 by Skizzer, on Flickr Vauxhall Cavalier mk2 SRi by Skizzer, on Flickr Citroen BX Meteor by Skizzer, on Flickr Honda Civic by Skizzer, on Flickr  Really tidy but usable Beetle, which hasn't been 'individualised'.  This probably makes it unique. Volkswagen Beetle by Skizzer, on Flickr  I'm breaking my own rules here - it's not old, it's not cheap and it's not tatty.  But it's a Toyota with an Aston Martin badge, so it MUST be shite. Aston Martin Cygnet by Skizzer, on Flickr  I've posted this split screen Moggie before, from the back, but I make no apology for putting it up again from the front:.  Morris Minor Series 2 by Skizzer, on Flickr  Oof, a flat front Fiesta.  This looks to have had a lifetime of MOT bodging, which makes it just about perfect.  Reckon it's very early for a van version - when did they start doing them? Ford Fiesta mk1 van by Skizzer, on Flickr  Blurry CX.  Sorry.  Apart from the general yummy Citroenité of this, I wonder how many other cars still had a vinyl roof option in 1987? Citroen CX by Skizzer, on Flickr  But speaking of vinyl roofs - check out this MOFO.  The badge on the front wing says OPPRESSOR.  (I'm not making this up.) Mercedes CLS thing by Skizzer, on Flickr  Couple of Bavarians to finish.  A shiny 2002ti... BMW 2002ti by Skizzer, on Flickr ...and lastly my favourite, a genuine 70s supersaloon that looks like it gets plenty of use.  Bring your own nylon shirt unbuttoned to reveal lots of chest hair and a fat gold medallion.  Cool, daddy. BMW M535i in Primrose Hill by Skizzer, on Flickr  Thanks for watching. Jim Bell, CGSB, trigger and 9 others 12
EssDeeWon Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Good spot with the MK2 Cav SRi, I love seeing stuff like that still around.
DVee8 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 That merc thing is fuggin gopping But loving the BX meteor Skizzer 1
Skizzer Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014  Good spot with the MK2 Cav SRi, I love seeing stuff like that still around. Thanks.  It looked really tidy too (although you'll have to take my word for it, thanks to the fuzzy long range photo) and I must say that's my favourite colour for them.  Pity about the trimz, but you can't have everything.
mercrocker Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Blimey I haven't seen an earlier fezza van than the T reg we had at work (new!).....Love the Standard 12 against that old building, it looks like something from an Ealing comedy.  I insist you go back when that blue thing's gone and take another shot! And finally....that Merk, I hope, does not herald a return of the fake landau roof as seen on giffer-owned Florida plated Cadillac Cimarrons a couple of decades ago.... Skizzer 1
Skizzer Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Funnily enough, the Standard 12 is about a mile away from the old Ealing Studios where the comedies were made, basically just off the same road. I'll be passing through again this week so will do my best to get a better shot. The Standard OC are aware, by the way: someone posted it on their forum a couple of weeks ago. I hope the gopping Merc doesn't herald the return of anything. It does suggest there may be money to be made from selling aftermarket fake landau roofs to newly rich Russians, though. Hmm.... Vladimir Putin and mercrocker 2
HillmanImp Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Fandabbiedozie spots there. Except the Mercedes OPRESSOR which looks like some sort of shitty CHOP SHOP shitty shit.  The picture of the CX is making me want one really badly and there is also a K11 Micra in the shot of the Alfa Skizzer 1
Skizzer Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 So there is, I'd missed that. Micras in that part of Islington/Camden are more commonly found in Figaro flavour...
HillmanImp Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Ha! True. Was probably delivering a takeaway or something.Â
Skizzer Posted November 3, 2014 Author Posted November 3, 2014 Time for a catch up on spots, maybe? Firstly, a couple from the Tredegar House show.  Just the snotters though: these are shonky daily drivers that snuck in and had all the usual shiny-nuts nerds looking down their noses. My car of the show:Honda Integra by Skizzer, on Flickr This was for sale - I was going to post it up, but then it appeared on eBay and someone beat me to it:Open Senator CD by Skizzer, on Flickr This wasn't on show - it belonged to some catering people.  Top marks.Nissan Bluebird by Skizzer, on Flickr LOL.  Still, rarer than MGBs and Morris Minors, that's for sure:Ford Scorpio Estate by Skizzer, on Flickr This hadn't seen much Autoglym, either. Cheered me up a treat:Renault Extra by Skizzer, on Flickr  I meant to do a Trigger-style show thread, but never got around to it: still could if anyone cares?  Meanwhile, a few recent spots from the wild, mostly up London way:1986 Honda Civic by Skizzer, on Flickr 1988 Fiat Panda 1000CL by Skizzer, on Flickr Lord Snowdon I'm not, but half a Celica is better than no bread.  You'll have to take my word for it being a Liftback.1979 Toyota Celica Liftback by Skizzer, on Flickr This XJR-S looked so much better in this colour than the usual black, white or red:Jaguar XJR-S by Skizzer, on Flickr  Thanks for watching. vulgalour, RobT, mouseflakes and 4 others 7
vulgalour Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 I like that little silver Honda, that's pretty neat.
Skizzer Posted November 4, 2014 Author Posted November 4, 2014 I like that generation of Civic a lot, too, and this one looked pretty smart. Â How ironic, too, that it's completely dwarfed by the 'Mini' parked next to it.
Skizzer Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 Not done an update in ages, in spite of everyone's overwhelming* excitement** last time, so here's a few from Swansea and environs. This is a regular round our way:Nissan Bluebird by Skizzer, on Flickr Spotted this outside my local mechanic's place.  Looked great, but crap photo because traffic.  Soz.Ford Cortina mk3 estate by Skizzer, on Flickr None of these is exciting on its own, but this petrol station just up the road always has a prime selection of tat outside.  It's the same place I snapped the shonky Humber Sceptre or Singer Vogue a couple of pages back - haven't seen that in a while though Autoshite petrol station by Skizzer, on Flickr These were some sort of parade to/from a local classic car show, I assume.  I suppose I should have taken the Renault, but I don't really do shows.  Crap photos because 1. Fairly far away and 2. Phone.Toyota MR2 mk1, Ford Granada mk3 and 2 police cars by Skizzer, on Flickr Ford Cortina 80 by Skizzer, on Flickr Ford Granada mk2 estate by Skizzer, on Flickr See this Granny around from time to time - looks very, very tidy.Talbot Express motorhome and Ford Granada mk3 Ghia by Skizzer, on Flickr US Army Jeep outside Halfrauds, where I was looking (successfully) for a small 13mm socket to go on my bendy screwdriver thing.  The smudge is an expired insect on the windscreen: I bet David Bailey never has that problem.Willys (?) Skizzer Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 As that was so popular*, have some more.  These are from up London way. Volvo Amazon by Skizzer, on Flickr Honda Civic saloon by Skizzer, on Flickr Nissan Sunny by Skizzer, on Flickr Audi 80 TurboD by Skizzer, on Flickr This thing is so horrendous I actually quite like it.  If a thing's worth doing, it's worth overdoing:Mercedes G-Wagen 6x6 by Skizzer, on Flickr VW Scirocco Scala by Skizzer, on Flickr Rover R8 200s by Skizzer, on Flickr Daimler DS420 by Skizzer, on Flickr Toyota Celica by Skizzer, on Flickr Citroen Dyane 6 by Skizzer, on Flickr Jim Bergerac, mercrocker, anonymous user and 12 others 15
mercrocker Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Great spots, can't begin to think what use that G class is though....! Skizzer 1
danthecapriman Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Nice spots, love the mk2 Granada's and DS420! That Mercedes 6x6 thing is so epically pointless. Some people have more money than sense! Skizzer 1
Skizzer Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 Thanks chaps  The Grosser-G-Wagen thing seemed to live there I think, 'there' being round behind Bankside power station Tate Modern.   There's some very posh flats gone up in that area since the last time I was there, which was around 1998. That time, a junkie sliced his arm up climbing through the window of my Scirocco without opening it first.  He won a record bag with three mix tapes in it and left me a syringe.  Classy.
Skizzer Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 It really was a honey - just the right level of lived-in. Â Like it was 1983 all over again. mercrocker 1
anonymous user Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 My old Citroen Dyane had a door that colour, the rest of it was maroon, I don't suppose that one had a maroon driver's door? I'm not sure if the Bluebird at Tredegar House is the one I often see at Tesco in Bridgend, I think it has two AA or RAC badges on the front. Skizzer and RayMK 2
Vladimir Putin Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 But speaking of vinyl roofs - check out this MOFO.  The badge on the front wing says OPPRESSOR.  (I'm not making this up.) Mercedes CLS thing by Skizzer, on Flickr Nice car.  Fast. Big boot nobody see inside. Skizzer and mouseflakes 2
barrett Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Good stuff. Any idea what happened to the Standard in the end? Shame if it got binned, but more surprising things have happened
Skizzer Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Not sure - haven't been down that road lately. Will investigate next time I'm up in Ealing (prob soonish). Seen the neighbouring Mk2 Cav SRi around though, still looking good.
chaseracer Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Spotted this outside my local mechanic's place.  Looked great, but crap photo because traffic.  Soz. Which car were you in when you took that, Skiz...? Skizzer 1
