ah yes Weoley Castle- the standard municiple houses but the larger than normal grass verge makes sense now

yes i am over by robin hood but that was part of my "patch" at work when we still had the South Birmingham OOH doctors contract- you may have seen various silver polos and latterly 208s with doctor wrote on them and maybe the focarse that even had PRIMECARE written down the doors in a not subtle way! lol

Is that a service where the doctors are driven to patients homes? I think my cousin used to do that, he lives in Stetchford so I'm guessing it's possible...

Re: Micra, Lord Sterling it's looking well, nicely done! The stereo doesn't look 'right' but as it works and was only 6 quid it can be forgiven! :)

Cmon Lord sterling stop teasing with the micra..... We all want some Rover updates!

I'm afraid nothing will be done with the Rovers right now. I'm struggling with work, money, family and a non-existant visa. The Rovers are the least of my troubles and I reckon a big important decision will be made about them this year.

Actually; The KV6 was started up, driven and moved a few miles down the road to a mates as some building work started next to where the Sterling was parked.

Back to the Micras; today I went to start it up/run it up and down the carpark and test the CD player (it had been tested by Sis_Sterling but I wanted to try it for myself) I noticed that the rear right-hand speaker in the parcel shelf wasn't chucking out any sound.

Thankfully it turned out to be a quick and easy fix. I tracked down the problem to a wire in the iso connector being in an incorrect place, a bit of research to wiring diagrams and what goes where saw the wires located back into thier rightful places and therefore giving me full 4-speaker sound.

I'm still actually looking for the correct parcel shelf as per later Micras:

Also looking to reinstate the Micra badges, tried them on for fitment today;

Just need the 'TEMPEST' badge if anyone has any knocking about.

Hm, they should be about somewhere .. I'll have a look.

Sweet man, I was gonna ask you about the badges but bought some cheap from eBay, I just need the TEMPEST badge more than anything. I did wonder about the oval mark, seems really difficult to get rid, but I do have metallic T-cut so I'll give that a try tomorrow.

I wouldn't bother; it was on there 10 years and the back of the car faced south on that driveway - in London, where it's basically the Mediterranean, climate-wise.

I tried a few tricks, but eventually decided that if it needed anything it was covering up.

The white paint on the wheel trims shoulf sand off easily enough, think there's a nissan badge missing, it vanished last summer.

Nope! It's definitely the correct one. Did some research. On the K11 there were 3 or 4 different badge styles, concentrating on the facelift K11s only there 2 different types; the blockier slightly italicised greyer version Ma_Sterling's Micra has and the much more silvery italicised version that this had. I matched it up against some other later Micras I know of and some on eBay so I know I've got the correct one. The newer Micra had a less-italicised badge.

I vaguely remember that, but very vaguely. Do you're by Robin Hood as on Hall Green? I used to study at Hall Green tech (South Birmingham college) when I lived in Moseley.

yes indeedily doodily

Ma's Blue K11 Micra was recently punted up the back by someone who obviously wasn't paying attention;

Despite the naysayers we are going to get it repaired, insurance or not, then it'll be stored away.

Now though this means that the roffle Micra need to be put on the road.

Today, the roffle Micra had its windscreen changed:

Seems to fit well. Cost? £140 all in, supply and fit plus new surrounds.

Whilst parked up, I noticed these:

Yep, there are plants growing in the wings. I actually spotted the single blade of grass growing out of the one side and pulled it off thinking it was just stuck, a few days later it had grown again. So I undid the wheel arch liners and dug out the soil trapped inside the bottom of the wing.

Now all it really needs is a replacement bonnet and the slam panel pulling out slightly so the bonnet can shut properly.

That's amazing that the car was carrying vegetation. Not tempted to bed in some roses and make it a feature?

Good on you for giving these Micras some love! There's still loads around here but their numbers have started to drop noticeably

Cheers lads! Yep, we'll keep the Micras going. The plantations have to come out, I doubt Mother_Sterling will want to drive around in a mobile allotment

Surely the vegetation can be used to offset emissions & make it LEZ exempt or something?

Yep, they made these until 2003.

Today, the roffle Micra saw some actual road action for the first time in the last couple of months.

Last weekend I found a Blue Micra of similar age to Ma's Micra being broken up in Brierley Hill. Parts requested and money agreed I went to fetch them in the roffle Micra. I didn't take any pics as time was more important.

Had a nice discussion with the chap breaking the Micra and I know where to go to if I need anymore parts.

Soon, I got to Ma's and swapped stuff over so I could take Ma's old Micra and she'd use the roffle Micra.

Old Micra stuffed with its 3rd bonnet and some bumpers. There's also a couple of other minor bits it needs, like an expansion tank etc...

post-3572-0-65416300-1530380203_thumb.jpg

The old Micra is now at mine awaiting to be taken next Saturday to my mates bodyshop for repairs. A jig will be required to pull the back and front out, but remarkably the boot floor is intact and undamaged, the panel that holds the bumper on is the one that needs straightening out.

The 'new' front bumper has a small crack at the bottom but is nice straight. Though the original bumper is actually Ok, no dents/cracks or smashes, just slightly bent due to the deformity of the front inner panels. Hopefully this Micra will be back to rude health. It'll be stored hopefully in a nice garage once repaired and used as a back up car whenever needed.

Cheers Sims. As it happens, the Micra will be dropped off fpr repair literally a stones throw from yours next Saturday at Crash Fix Repair if you know it on Powke Lane, I'll probably be walking past yours aswell on my way to Cradley Heath or Old Hill station.

Hey hey. Yeah, I was a regular on Powke Lane. I worked at my mate Mahmouds garage when Powke Lane was awash with cars coming on and out and everyone was fighting for spaces. I've not been there during the week for a long while but it doesn't seem as busy as it once was. Used to be a regular at AD Tyres, visited the second-hand car dealer across the road from the cemetery.

I worked briefly at the IMO Car Wash aswell further towards Dudley. Was also a regular at the MacRon scrappy just up the road from Crash Fix. It's now closed off, you have to order bits and scrappy will go and get it for you. I used to be able to walk in there and pick parts off cars, I suppose new regulations have been enforced. Shame really.

where about in Brierley Bonk did you go for the Micra bits?? as I'm just down the road In Pensnett, but spent a good few years of my life there..

Macron salvage is still going, just that you can't walk in there and pick bits off like you used to, you have to order from outside.

I picked up the Micra bits from the estate just opposite Russells Hall Hospital.

Anyway. The BMW needed some MOT. I've been paid and my bills have too so it's time the car needed a tiny bit of attention which it hasn't had for a long time.

As previously eluded to in the News 24 thread, my car broke down with battery problems. It was jump-started by the RAC and had enough juice in the battery to get me to work. Just. As I work for a car/caravan and boat battery retailer I got my hands on one, and had it fitted for £36.

post-3572-0-12631000-1541261487_thumb.jpg

Today it went in for MOT and failed on a snapped link a wiper and a rear right-hand side tyre. A fuel pump is also leaking very slightly.

post-3572-0-00496400-1541261271_thumb.jpg

So the I got both rear tyres changed as the they were both old and cracking:

post-3572-0-86275600-1541261822_thumb.jpg

So now I have a repaired BMW with 2 nice continental tyres and a new MOT.

I treated the thing to a £3 wash. Sorry about the photo, my phone doesn't seem to be able to 'wake up' fast enough.

post-3572-0-40433800-1541263539_thumb.jpg

So, there we have it. A new battery, fresh MOT, oil topped up, better rear tyres, a new anti-roll bar link that I didn't know had snapped and some nice new wipers.

Good job, tyres and batteries are the bits you want to be tip top coming into winter!

Nice work. Needs more Frontera.

Now that would be a mega winter beater. Actually, I saw one in the carpark of a breakers yard in Stouport. A BRG one with slightly deeper dish alloys and possibly on an M-plate. Know anything about it? Scrappy there even has a Blue Citroën DS in the yard along with a stripped Scorpio estate and a Jag.

Winning :)

Cheers lads, yeah winning but expensive. Another defect on my BMW is that the fuel pump is leaking. £180 so far but I'd say another £150+ or so and it could be tip top but I just cannot spare anything right now.
