Pretty sure my brother had that same set, but with a red plastic Mercedes 190E with rally stickers instead of the Beetle.

Anyone want any of these? 3 for £1.

Mystery Machine - plastic construction. One of the pins on the rear fold out section is missing but still works fine. 27cm long. Push down the front and it's motors across the floor! £2

I remember having a lucky toys police cortina that was a decent replica.

I know of the Cortina III in Police and Fire colours, this one is back here.  It's an 'unbranded clone' of the Lucky and minus stickerage.  And tyres.

Today, both plastic Cortinas loose are worth more than boxed Corgi/Matchbox diecast originals

(Except if you find one at a car boot half-broken and need to sell to me, obv)

To their left, a pair of Spectrum Patrol Cars from Captain Scarlet, then two Rolls Royces.  ~The blue one is Hudson, voiced by Gordon Jackson in Terrahawks; the pink one needs no introduction!

Spotted a Bandai Hudson Rolls and thought, 'oohhh not got one of those', 'completes the collection etc', 'I wonder etc'.  So put it on watch

FAILED.   I mean, how much?!?  Surely it's quite cheaply made rubbish really.

Any chance of a TAT Wednesday photocall of your one?  Might get it out of my system!

Or to me!  I've been looking for a four-door mk2 for decades, even going to the extent of converting an old Matchbox one and starting to hunt for an old Dinky or Vanguard for conversion purposes.

Last spring I obtained a bandai terrahawks battlehawk. I won't say what it cost but it is the largest amount I have spunked on tat - it was mint but no box.

I think that’s where the appeal wanes somewhat for me. I like the common or garden ones you might find in Tesco or actually being played with and enjoyed. £43, I think they’re having a laugh tbh.

Says pre-order, so might be the importer is a grey, wanting a big cut off each for the bother.  As far as I can tell, the set is for US market only.

HW Premium 4-car sets are $25 in Walmarts.  That's £18 and a few pence

I did find one of the two door Mk3 Plodmobile at a boot sale either last year or the year before but it was so comprehensively broken (roof crushed levels of broken) it never entered my head to grab or even photograph it. Ah well..

In my parlance £18 probably buys a box of broken and battered tat which is much more up my street!

Hmmm, maybe it's just me, but are those petrol pumps very similar to those sold by Hobbies, which themselves seem to date back to the '70s?

6716_1_1.jpg

https://www.hobbies.co.uk/model-garage-accessories-2-pumps-and-oil-cabinet

I bought some of the modern ones from a shop in Sheffield 15-odd years ago, but it transpires that Hobbies are based fairly local to me and may be worth a visit one day.

I have one of the older pumps here in the office at this very second (due to the house move), it dates back to when I was young. No clue as to the maker or country of origin.

I was wrong about the Cortina III.  The genuine Lucky is a size up (~1:25) and four-door.

That was my first thought but it was too bollocksed even for that. Imagine stamped or trodden on more than once, with large bits missing.. Even the intrepid Backdoor Doctor would have had his work cut out trying to make something of it.

As you asked...

Note there's been a slight change on the shelves.  I'll come back to that.  Now then, Hudson...

So that was Hudson; cheap and all-plastic, as you so correctly said before.  Meanwhile...

Remember there's a model on those shelves of The California Kid, from the Martin Sheen film of the same name?  Well...

Having the new Hot Wheels Plymouth lying around was just too tempting, as the Sheriff's car was exactly that!  Although it should have a star on each door, and on the hood; and should have push bars too.

That thing on the front wing is supposed to be a siren, but I've used a spare spotlight from a Corgi Hillman Hunter.  Looks the part!

New Hot Wheels found in Morrison's again. Unfortunately it looks like I got there after someone had kicked them around the shop, so the cards are damaged. Sounds like an excuse to open them

Nothing for months other than the UK carded ones which were castings we'd already seen.

Woman in Entertainer said there are problems getting stuff from the East which is why all their stock of Hot Wheels is slightly older.

Guess we're going to miss a load of Matchbox castings again too

I keep getting trailers! @flat4alfakindly included some with some other bits that arrived this week, can anyone ID these and what they should be towed by/carry? I could Google it but where's the fun in that? Let's see how many of these you can inform me about;

This one I genuinely don't know - no markings on it anywhere, looks like early Lesney?

20210831_143259

This is Lesney but beyond that I don't know

20210831_143200

Majorette

20210831_143121

Moving into King Size territory, this says CRANE 200 TON TRANSPORTER on the base

20210831_143046

Superkings K-17

20210831_143007

Superkings but no K- that I can see, just TRANSPORTER

20210831_142859

This one struck me as a little odd as the markings are on the top of the trailer - K91 MOTOR CYCLE TRAILER

20210831_142737

I definitely had one of these as a kid - I think I towed it behind a Unimog. K-35 FARM TRAILER

20210831_142645

A very similar looking Corgi FARM TRAILER

20210831_142706

Then there are a couple I got a few weeks back - again I don't know what they belong with,

Corgi (Horley) Ltd 10T. GOOSE DUMPER

20210814_120147

Finally (for now) Matchbox King Size NO 11 WHITLOCK TRAILER

That is lovely but £43 man.

I can see my priorities have shifted well over to 1/1 cars. 6 or 7 years ago I'd have paid double that for, say a 1/18 Roewe 750 but now I baulk even at £4.30 on a diecast.

As Tom says, I prefer the thrill of finding a Hotwheels I've been after for ages in Tesco or The Entertainer for £1.25 or whatever, opening it and studying it!

At the weekend, my username became even more out of date, when I brought home my new replacement for the Octavia, a Merc W203 C Class. So I had a hunt on ebay, to see if I could find a miniature version. Surely there might be a nice, reasonably priced 1/43 dealer model or two on there,

Screenshot_2021-09-01-23-24-58-133_com_ebay.mobile.thumb.jpg.18141aa2c4633e38be12d37bcbe13062.jpg

ray-liotta-lmao.gif.37dcdcf673e7eaa21d42e76ee54e7b1a.gif

Luckily, good old Cararama came to the rescue. £7 mint and boxed, that's more like it squire!

IMG_20210901_225736.thumb.jpg.3b432f4900c5f815c27bb31ad51a000a.jpg

Okay, so it's a different shade of blue to my real-life example and it's a pre facelift, but beggars can't be choosers...

IMG_20210901_225914.thumb.jpg.cabd3cbd629bc50f53f8fbaefe06760f.jpg

For a model that's ever so slightly toy-like, it's not bad at all. The shape's not quite there though, I keep getting reminded of a Lexus. (Which IS the "Japanese Mercedes" tbf).

IMG_20210901_230123.thumb.jpg.5ba2655742ae0edd8ab68d61c19038e5.jpg

IMG_20210901_230155.thumb.jpg.10df2a143682b1633aa7a6a0dbe84f6f.jpg

Obviously, as evidenced by the 'for 3 years and over' lettering on the box, one wouldn't expect a miniature three pointed emblem on the bonnet, but they've done a fair stab at a tampo printed grille and bonnet badge, which does look like one of the blanks that people put on when they've had the star pinched... At least the headlamps and bumper mounted foglamps are separately moulded.

IMG_20210901_230221.thumb.jpg.88716384c5750ca3e38e8a39b9853a0d.jpg

Again, for the price point, the tail lights are pretty good, although the C320 logo seems a bit on the piss. (Sadly my real life version is a lowly 180 kompressor, much as I'd love a 320).

IMG_20210901_230419.thumb.jpg.f4224ff78c2182f3cf93b92b8b1f1e05.jpg

Surprisingly though, the wipers and door mirrors are done well here.

IMG_20210901_230328.thumb.jpg.0a13419889ab534ab64b3a1347c64a4f.jpg

The shape of the seats are well caught too. Incidentally it's nice to see the toy like opening doors do actually include the top frames, unlike a lot of toys with their unrealistic pillarless doors.

IMG_20210901_230406.thumb.jpg.0729da0066c9b84f8db008bfef6342b0.jpg

Sadly all one colour like it's been moulded out of Caramac, bit the shape of the dash is well done , including the gear selector and steering wheel.

IMG_20210901_230445.thumb.jpg.002d4a36d39de60efa37777f46554cb7.jpg

Wheels are a passable copy of AMG 5 spokes as commonly seen on late W209 CLKs.

IMG_20210901_230605.thumb.jpg.b545853b33c8834a9e1b689c7fb979ca.jpg

Even the underside is pretty good for the price, with its separate exhaust!
