Shite in Miniature II

I'm still not aware of anyone having modelled a Viva HC, despite their ten-year model run. Lone Star produced a Superfast-sized Firenza at the time (which, as is oft lamented here, go for megabucks), and Oxford Diecast more recently put out a nice 1/43 Firenza casting, but the standard saloon or estate? Nada.

A two-door in Honey Starmist with a black vinyl roof would be ideal, but I'd take anything...

Not aware of the B10 series Datsun Sunny ever making it into miniature format either - I'd love a coupe like the two I owned, but would happily settle for a saloon/estate. Looks like I'll be waiting a wee while longer...

Nearest you'd get is the Thoroughbred Models Magnum.  Rejig the front and repaint

Kodeblake Nissan Sentra Sedan 1/43

Sister car isn't it, US market.  Known in Japan as Tsuru.  But still a B11 Sunny.  Assuming you meant B11 not B10.

HC Viva?  You mean my solution...

New toys! First up, harder to find colour of the Matchbox Challenger

20210213_155718.thumb.jpg.9ce023bfaeb3718fd0cf0d7a7fec8a3e.jpgI have a couple of these Corgi/Kellogg's/Fina cars, but these were stupid cheap and the Beetles are a different colour to my existing ones, which have a silver base. Minor fans will know this colour came on the Morris Minor 1,000,000, one of which I remember lived near my senior school

AMX is in decent shape and has all its stickers unlike my other one

Work got rained off, so instead of being sensible and working on the house, I've been in the shed doing more reverse rake window stuff.

Exciting arrival this afternoon from a slightly snowy postie...

Big thanks to @jon.k for these! Some cracker Corgis and a few other choice items for the ever-expanding DC collection... more to come on these soon, I reckon.

Our spot of Government Endorsed Exercise today took us to a (quite) local nature reserve. I had a the presence of mind to grab something diecast to amuse myself with on our walk.

Not quite of Datsuncog flowerbed excavation calibre, but I'm only a beginner.

20210213_172311.thumb.jpg.8cc46104af74f2d94339e16ea1310704.jpg

20210213_172402.thumb.jpg.99e013adb81c91367a726e15f42cd209.jpg

Bit Ice Road truckers, this next one, and the prismatic nature of the (really quite deep) ice had the strange effect of robbing the model of its shadow.

20210213_172250.jpg

Of course, there being snow, I couldn't ignore the fun and games that the white stuff affords fans of James Bond, his early 80s exploits and particularly the wedge-shaped, norfolk-crafted projectiles therein. Yes, I had to get the Lotus out.

This Trabant Travesty arrived in the post today!  The nice Post Lady didn't know what to make of it either.

It was made by Sunnyside and measures to approx 1:29 scale.

While it looks to be authentically* reproduced in the style of a night-time curfew repaint, while the Stasi were patrolling the streets; I feel this image of the fall of the DDR shows a more fitting colour scheme for a proper Rennpappe Universal :

With thanks to @jon.k for supplying the model 😎

Hmm.  Not sure if I fancy a variation on the blue idea after all

20210213_190524553_iOS.jpg.b6377658fbf763a6ba394bfde284838e.jpg

Might request a colour chart off the local Sachsenring dealership

I'll give them a ring.

Hmmm.. Photographing smoll tat in the snow might well be an idea for tomorrow.. (Not now obvs, it's dark, blowing a gale and minus six)

That's more than I paid for a real one!

(Admittedly, there may be rather more metal in the Thoroughbred version)

Still, just surprised none of the more mainstream manufacturers have thought to have a crack at it; Vanguards did the HB Viva, but never seemed to get round to modelling its longrunning successor. Even outside the UK, a fair few were sold through Vauxhall Europe in Belgium and the Netherlands, plus the HC was sold under the Chevrolet marque in South Africa and Pontiac in Canada. Maybe at some point a Chinese partwork version will appear...

I'd thought that Oxford would have maybe thought to use their Firenza casting to produce a silver Droopsnoot edition, but not yet.

I know we've covered this before but I'd welcome a  model FD/FE Victor. (Yes, I know about the Airfix FD but I mean one we could actually afford)
