flat4alfa Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 A CANCELLED TAT FRIDAY ALTERNATIVE EXPOSÉ Lucky Toys No.3190 Made in Hong Kong. Oh no, not more duff plastic cars - I hear you say. Well, tough... these are tough times! Clearly a Volkswagen Golf Mk1, pleasing to see in 5-door guise for a change. Sold either alone in various guises, or in this stickered 'Rallye Racing' livery from a set labelled 'Weekend'. The Caravan style may look familiar to 1:36 Corgi afficionados. What we have here is a white example still with its (typically faded) stickers intact. Spotted in a Hitchin 'antique bric-a-brac' shop cabinet, two summer's back. Being in Hitchin, in a shop of that type, and not only in a locked glazed cabinet with a load of Dinky, it was bound to be at an inflated and non-negotiable price. Being 40+ years old, things did not look good. The dreaded PRICE TAG ON STRING said £8. But then, my french niece said over my shoulder 'that's you, that is' in her broken English. It was fated. £8 was paid up. The parking was £4 anyway. The friction motor frictions and the opening bonnet opens, revealing perhaps an authentic modelling of the engine. It measures to 1:29 scale and being a Lucky, the base is screwed home, not glued; so is perfect for what I had in mind (eventually). But what Ken and Dolly did do was take it away dogging camping for the weekend, complete with their matching Lucky Toys tent and dinghy on trailer. The weekend went well, though Ken got a bit sore. Sudsprint, Tenmil Socket, eddyramrod and 7 others 10

Hopefully your plans don't involve any irreversible body changes so it can go back to stock. I have won what I believe is one of the more sought-after Lucky cars in a job lot for £not much. Pics when it arrives

Crumbs, another blast from the past. I remember having a white Lucky Toys Golf, just the same as your own, only with the bonnet missing in action. What I didn't remember was that I also had that slightly-elongated Corgi-clone caravan, too - which means that, once upon a time, I must have received the complete 'Weekend' set. Pity they're now long gone, they look pretty good! Cheers for the memory-jog. bunglebus 1
Amishtat Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Normally I find Matchbox stuff post 1990 utterly resistable but Eddy Ramrod's lovely Dodges posted yesterday made me have a snout down the toys aisle on an essential supplies mission into town earlier. Forres isn't a big place and its Tesco concomitant so this was all I found, nothing new but rather a nicely executed little thing. CBFA to carry on to the big shop in Elgin this week. Split_Pin Posted February 19, 2021 Author Posted February 19, 2021 I had no idea you were from Scotland I used to live in Culloden many, many years ago but IV30 was where I worked around, as far east as Fochabers and as far north as Burghead.

I'm not, I'm an interloper.East Anglian and proud, been in Moray for the last three months, bought a place in Dumfries-shire which we'll hopefully be moving into the week after next. There's going to be a dedicated small tat room.. Split_Pin 1
Split_Pin Posted February 20, 2021 Author Posted February 20, 2021 Thank goodness for that! I found the place very isolated and was glad when I moved back down to the Central Belt. Amishtat 1
bunglebus Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Some bits and bobs were waiting for me after a few days away I've got a couple of these Marx Mercury Cougars... but this one was paired with a plastic version I've not seen before base says F&F Mold & Die Works Inc Deyton Ohio Made in USA Also got a PlayArt Kubelwagen to go with the Schwimmwagen I already have lastly, the booms for the Lone Star Transits arrived, he was also kind enough to include the door I need for my Dinky MK2 Transit for £1 - original not recast Remspoor, andrew e, Sudsprint and 6 others 9
junkyarddog Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Those booms look great. Do they do the other part of it? Sudsprint, sheffcortinacentre and Remspoor 3
eddyramrod Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Another ebay arrival yesterday... Sean Connery and Jill St John in Las Vegas. It's not the old Corgi casting, which came as a bit of a surprise; I have a couple to compare. One is the Century of Cars issue which has joined my "car show." Two parcels to come, plus any I buy this weekend (I'm watching several). AndyW201, Datsuncog and bunglebus 3

Sounds like he's worked in casting alloy for years, but doesn't do plastic parts Fits well, will need to be glued in place. Volksy Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Holy hell, I had that Nikko mighty ranger, just seeing it brought back the smell of warm plastic from the motor! Mine died when the front suspension broke. bunglebus 1

Mine died when the front suspension broke. I have no idea where mine went. I have a vague memory of giving it an awful Humbrol repaint. Probably got chucked when I wasn't looking. As for the Escort cabrios, 100% the same casting, with base evolutions. Only the MC has an interior as the Rainbow has a pull-back motor and the Corgi has the electronics for the lights and sound andrew e, Datsuncog and Tenmil Socket 3

There's a later Corgi which is a different casting, and I think several variations with spoilers and bonnet etc, was discussed a while ago on here.
bezzabsa Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Right, finally got round to taking pix...bear with me..I'll try and get em the right way up!! y AndyW201 1

The lone trailer at the end, I'll either sell, or I'll buy the truck that goes to it!! added some pics of "Days gone by" as I love the Shell Tanker
bunglebus Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 I'd be interested in the blue Matchbox Pi-Eyed Piper and the Mod Rod - what make is this one? Is that a Corgi Rockets Jag hiding at the back? The Matchbox RS200 will sell on eBay in almost any condition
Amishtat Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 I think the black one is a Dinky Vauxhall Cresta

bezzabsa Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 will put those aside...... anything in there you reckon worth throwing on eblag?? as I said new to this, brought it as a job lot , just for a Daf truck..LOL
bunglebus Posted February 20, 2021 Posted February 20, 2021 Well I wouldn't mind the green Corgi Jag - I'd put the Dinky on separately and do little job lots of Matchbox/Hot Wheels/Chinese tat etc. Good Luck with the Days Gone/Yesteryear type stuff, they're everywhere and not very sellable
