Engine now repainted and transplanted into the Big Banger. Got it some new decals as I ruined the originals giving it a clean

No worries, can set all of those aside for you!

According to the big Charlie Mack book of Matchbox, the metallic pink Road Dragster is indeed a lesser-spotted variant. Worth about double what a plain red one might fetch, when mint and boxed, apparently... though in this condition, at this price point, it's probably a bit moot...

It’s a bit difficult to interpret that book in the U.K., some items he reckons are worth little in the US are worth a bit here like the Roman numerals editions.

Slowly rebuilding my childhood toy car collection.

So a couple of Ebay Dinky purchases...

The Cortina bidding was particularly stressful as in a drunken stupor I accidentally ceiling'd my automatic bidding at £6500 in the closing minutes - the sweat was pouring off me.

There's a red and white one on eBay now - for £75. Failing that I might make some phat arches for this

I had the Dinky XJC, really it wasn’t a very good model at all.

the Dinky XJ12C was i think one of the ones made out in Hong Kong, and as such was rubbish.

better to just make to with a Corgi XJC.

no matter how appealing a thundercat is!

Thanks @Datsuncog.  If  it comes down to about £2 I  will have it, but I'm not going to hold my breath!  You got a really good deal for a tenner on that nice example, well done.

Yes... Yes he did. This has been on my kitchen shelf since January and until the Corgi Bentley Continental came along was my best tat Friday score..

I always felt that these Hunters sat too low, especially for a rally car. The ride height jacked up looks more accurate.

Great little model though, a civvy version would have looked great. Hunter badges on the doors are nice. I loved to spot these as a lad in the early 1980s as they were quite old by then. If I'd known there was a model of them I'd have got very excited. My friends mum had one and I recall the handbrake lever was on the offside and not between the seats.

Here is mine. It's not in great condition. Can you buy the missing pieces?

Way to make me feel old!  I had 3 in the early 80s, all bought at old-banger money, and they were a pretty good class of old banger too, especially the 1969 Sceptre that came last, in 83-4.  SWF 87H (I'm good at this!) which followed two Minxes, LTC 385F (red, 1500) and HWM 916F (white, 1725 auto)

These are all the Corgi rally car!

Thank you!  That's exactly how they DID look, I was driving them complete with odd doors etc.  The red one was a trade-in at a garage where I used to work the pumps; the white one came from the local paper; the Sceptre was a trade-in at Ginger McCain's and had been used in training the racehorses on Southport beach.
