Shite in Miniature II

Quick update: in between times I've been spraying the models I stripped, and stripping some more.  I've loosely reassembled several - loosely only because I haven't tried to actually fasten them back together yet.  When I have, and I'm satisfied with the results, I'll show you.

Swapped an old  boiler for this lot:

attachicon.gifcars.jpg

Not sure what I'm going to do with a box full of Traction Avants.

Probably be a few modifications and repaints coming up :)

That's a better swap than I got at one of those parties.

A quick fumble in the kitchen and a lacklustre handjob on the patio from next door but ones old boiler.

I shit on this forum what with its stupid full of themselves lying stonewalling moderator wankers.

Don't expect me to post anything of substance on this circus of arseholes ever again.

The rest, as they say, is history.

You're one of about 10 people on this whole forum that actually 'gets' shit old cars I reckon, please don't piss off permanently as it'll be a poorer place without you

^^What makes you think it's only 'about 10'? You're writing off a lot of other members there, including me.

He still logs on every few days, I've checked. There isn't much diecast interest over on 'the other place' so hopefully he will be back soon, even if it's just on this thread.

We all love abargain, this Disastra mk5 cos me just 8 quid POSTED! The outer card sleeve of the box has a rip in but meh. The model is tidy for a Vanguards, which makes me wonder how they fucked up a mkq Capri, ehen they are fully capable of something like this.

ID challenge for you folks now.  These are tiny little things bought from Peacocks in Chesterfield back in the late 80s or 90s.  They measure about 1" by 1 3/4", some are slightly bigger, some are slightly smaller, depening on the various spoilers.  They all represent cars of the time but none of us can remember or find who they were made by.  Having hunted online all I'm getting are modern things, or really old things, nothing really even similar.

I think they're diecast with a nickel or zinc plate of some sort on them, they were never chrome looking, sort of a dull gold-ish satin finish. The wheels are solid plastic.

They're circa 1980 ,81  turbo era style cars ,is your dating correct ?

Just googled when Alfa pulled out of F1 as a constructor - and it was '85 apparently - so yes - early 80's style, you're right.

I can date them as post '81, at least for purchase, since they were bought after I was born.  I don't believe the cars were current when these were bought, and that was part of the appeal behind buying them. Difficult to remember specifics from 30-odd years ago really, especially given how much smaller and easier to distract I was at the time.

I'm after an ID since they're going on eBay and I suspect they'll sell better if I can figure out who actually made them and what they actually are.

I think that's the maker's mark.  I can't decypher it.  It's like two capital J, one upside down, and then either a circle or square on the short bit of the J.  I also can't seem to get the camera to focus on it so what's in the shot above is as good as I've managed.

They'll sell better if you put     Gilles Villeneuve  Ferrari    in the title ,   or wait for Lauda to die, which can't be much longer ...and put Lauda Ferrari.  :-D

Bit late on the 1:36 Corgi's mentioned a few pages back. But I'd been waiting for the 2CV to arrive. Which it did today so I could show it with these 2 recent arrivals below.

I really pleased with the 190 Taxi. I had a identical one for my 5th B'day. My parents had taken us on Holiday and made the mistake of taking us to a Massive Toy Shop to spend some money I'd been given.

Me and my brother spent a Hour in the shop checking out two floors before I selected the Merc and my brother chose a Corgi Sierra.

I also had the AA Escort Van as a kid think it was another B'day or Xmas present. My brother had the RAC version I recall.

The 2CV was another. Could have brought a Red Dolly Boxed cheaper, but had to have the Green version as it was the one I had.

Trouble is I'm going to have to get some more now!

You're right, I need to expand my eighties Corgis as well as having a proper look for some of my childhood survivors unseen for twenty years and fuck knows how many house moves. Blue Acclaim, red Sierra and red Honda Ballade driving school car are the ones I'm sure I have somewhere and still in reasonable nick.

Hope they turn up I've got a battered Escort MK3 hatch and a Renault 5 that were mine somewhere.

I also have a battered Rover 3500 that was my sisters too.

Am going to have to get myself another Sierra and Mercedes 207D in TNT colours and a Honda Prelude like I had for starters.

Always wanted a Acclaim myself and a Volvo 760, Renault 11, Metro, BMW 325i, Merc 190 2.3, Jaguar XJ etc.

That the rest of 2019 sorted anyway.

I found out recently there is also a rare 'tricolore' version of the Norev Simca Chambord I posted yesterday. I don't think I'll be getting one soon, this one sold for €271 in January!
