Trade for a Tomica or two?.....

All this Corgi talk got me looking at what I have:

IMG_5457.JPG

A mixture of stuff that I've had since I was young and others added purchased more recently from toyfairs, fellow AS folk and the odd charity shop. Jaguar XJ-C purchased from a certain Friday market stall awaiting despatch to me....

Anyone recognise this garage? I've had it since the '70s and it originally had curved red plastic doors giving it a rather 1930s look. I always thought it was by Corgi, as the scale was about right, but a look tonight shows no maker's name on it at all so now I'm not so sure.

Ah I'm keeping my Tomicas. They do fetch around £50-£70 on ebay as well so it's possibly not a workable swap.

Had the opportunity to check out a couple of shops outside my usual sphere today, not a million miles away but just not a place I tend to be with any time to spare. Tempting as some of the selection was, I exercised considerable restraint (by my standards) and only left with this.post-26064-0-80081500-1553971988_thumb.jpgpost-26064-0-69881100-1553972056_thumb.jpg

Corgi Oldsmobile 88,this has been on my mental list for a while, I'd rather have had the civilian version but figured this was better than nothing. The same place had a Dinky Desoto Fireflite but again the police version which was why I didn't bring it home. Also the US mail Corgi Plymouth Suburban but how many of those does one man need?

Speaking of Plymouth Suburbans, the example obtained from Datsuncog has now been painted but it's just become apparent that I'm still shit at masking and the result annoyed me so much I can't even look at it let alone strip it back and start again.

We all have days like that, it's taken me until this week to strip and re-paint a matchbox I dropped during the painting process in November.

I tried to make the Chevette into a replica of a friend's car, but it looks more like a 3 year old has done it...

The original model.

The goal...

a chap can never EVER have too many vintage diecasts.

i have a Olds Super 88, mine is a civilian one painted in "normal" colours as i understand they were painted some proper lurid colour schemes later in its production run. a run that would include the "thrush buster" from the Man from UNCLE set. that is i think one of the worse names ever given to a kids toy, ever!

anyway, this one is mine.

Datsuncog do you ever see any of the Triang ships for sale?

There's been a few diecast ships on the market stall from time to time, but I haven't given them much inspection tbh - are any particular type you're looking for?

There's also a model shop in Belfast that has some ships that I think are reissued Triang ones... Will check them out, if repros are of any interest?

surely there is only one of the Triang Minic ships thats any cop, and that is RMS Queen Mary?

the largest and fastest passenger ships on the planet when she was built, though small by todays standards.

and without doubt the most beautiful of ships, ever.

MarvinsMom, that's the exact Oldsmobile I was after! The shop did have the Thrushbuster one but I didn't really want it. There's another like yours in a shop local to me but absolutely mint and boxed. Much as I like it I'm not giving £75 for it..Too much of a tight bastard..

Back to the start with the Plymouth.

Quick update: in between times I've been spraying the models I stripped, and stripping some more.  I've loosely reassembled several - loosely only because I haven't tried to actually fasten them back together yet.  When I have, and I'm satisfied with the results, I'll show you.

Swapped an old  boiler for this lot:

attachicon.gifcars.jpg

Not sure what I'm going to do with a box full of Traction Avants.

Probably be a few modifications and repaints coming up :)

That's a better swap than I got at one of those parties.

A quick fumble in the kitchen and a lacklustre handjob on the patio from next door but ones old boiler.
