Shite in Miniature II

In the interests of domestic harmony my latest purchases were sent to my work address, although I wasn't expecting them quite yet............

I'm pleased you went for these ones, you neatly left the ones I was interested in.

Just filling in some gaps, always wanted the Maestro when I was a lot younger although the proportions are a bit odd. I had the Sierra in red as a child but God knows where that ended up. I had the Triumph Acclaim in blue and a red driving school Honda Ballade too but like the Sierra twenty years and quite a few house moves means I probably shan't come across them again.

Those Cortina estates are fearsomely expensive to restore - think a new tailgate, chrome front assembly and a couple of bits of plastic wood come to about £12.50.   I managed to get a nice red one for that money.   I should restore my blue one though, I had it as a kid but the tailgate snapped off (probably trying to shove the golf trolley, golfer and caddy all back in at once).   Once that happened it got put away which preserved the rest of the car......

Since I can't afford even a restorable wreck of these, I had to go for the Atlas Edition.

The more observant of you might have noticed that the above is made from some exotic non warping material.

Hence its purchase had to be offset with the acquisition of some normal stuff.

Der Benz is remarkably straight, but day glow red.

The unsafeness on wheels has shrunken on the nearside to the extent that the rear corner has broken.

In plan view it's a bit of a parallelogram.

104 is fairly good.

Sadly it's missing a rim.

Remarkably all doors are present and still work.

Glad you nabbed the 104. Seems a relatively rare model from my searches.

Anyway, my Eko 'haul' included this sad looking mechanical horse

I identified it as made by PECO, usually comes in kit form. I enquired with them about replacement wheels, and they said certainly sir, without any mention of payment!

It arrived today, and the extra wheel has kept this plastic out of the sea for a bit longer, should now live on for a bit (even if the axle doesn't turn that freely)

This is how it should look

Top mini-shiting there fellas.   Which reminds me to remind Mrs Rocker I have a birthday looming......

All this plastic talk has made me bid on some wonderful* obscure knock off plastic from far away.

I couldn't be any more vague.

I've posted this Nash Rambler before when I replaced the tyres. It's now had a clean of the glass poking around with a cotton bud and some sharpie action on grille and bumpers, and that will be enough for this one.

I've not found tyres yet for this Triang spot-on - any tips on where to source please?

Copied from my other thread, in case any of you weirdos hadn't seen and wanted to...

In typical Autoshite style I wanted to 'fix' one of the Escorts, so swapped parts over. They are an odd brand, not seen them before.

Those are a damn shame, Schabaks were fairly expensive, and they clearly have been used as toys, the estate is very rare too

The only variant they didn't make was the 3 door, right hand drive versions were available too, that estate is rare to find mint, I got all these unboxed, sadly all now sold. Would love to get that estate back, the hatchback, estate and Orions have the 1.8D engine, and the cabriolet has the CVH.

Schabak also did a lot of other 1/43, and a few 1/24 & 1/25, including the Sierra Sapphire in both UK and euro specs, and Cosworth, the Granada/Scorpio, and Granada saloon, I also used to have a BMW 750iL by them. Split Pin of this parish has my old 1/24 Escort which I supplied full of spare parts from a dead 1/24 Orion

Shortly I shall be commissioning a charity model of a fallen shiter's car. John MacGregor, aka 'oldford' had a mint condition Ford Cortina Crusader and I am getting a replica made of this car, and will be auctioning it in aid of the hospice who cared for him when his health was failing. I have mentioned this on East Coast Retros of which he was a big supporter. If anyone has a Whitebox TC3 Taunus in red, please PM me. Thank you.

I shall post a link to the auction when it is all sorted.

I want to help the hospice, as John was a mate, and helped me out more than once.

Cheers

No idea if it will be of any interest to anyone but what about this Bburago Peugeot 205 a mere £5 delivered to your door? No box and a few slight marks.

I love Schabaks, I have a fair few 1/24 examples.

Escort hatch (ex F.Magic), Orion, 2 Sapphires, Granada, Xr2i, BMW 750, 850, E36 cab, Z1, Mercedes W140 And Audi 80 cabriolet. I also have a 1/24 Gama E36 and what I believe to be a rare Schuco 1/24 E36 M3. They are crude by todays standards but when I was a kid, at £25 a pop, they were impossibly out of reach.

This topic has made me go rummaging in the cabinet and actually looking at them properly for the first time in a few years.post-26064-0-59540300-1533888665_thumb.jpgpost-26064-0-67556800-1533888720_thumb.jpg

I got these in about 1987 and even then they seemed a cut above but you're right, they seem a bit crude now. post-26064-0-54734100-1533888781_thumb.jpg

The Sierra was my favourite then but I definitely prefer the Granada now post-26064-0-20279700-1533888912_thumb.jpgpost-26064-0-79386600-1533888982_thumb.jpgpost-26064-0-29715100-1533889057_thumb.jpg
