Found this tiny little Lone Star Tuf-Tots Corvette today. £1.50 seems a fair price, as they're about £5 posted on eBay.

Just bagged this. Very early whizzwheels with metal base, painted figures and chrome rocket launcher. Much better than the later offering which just had red plastic - corgi started dying a slow death in the late 70's.

Been having a bit of a tough time at work recently so to cheer myself up I've been shopping for odd 1/72 cars, some from abroadshire and some from our very own Datsuncog. Here's a few shitelights.

Pugrots, worryingly green and baby puke yellow. I have all the civilian colours except white now (a pox on whoever bought DC's white one :-D )

The seller of this last lot claims to be based in Canada but the package was covered in Japanese text. Last time I looked at a map Toronto was not in Japan. That's by the by though, behold JDM shite.

Detailing the metro was a success. If by success, you mean a crack handed overpainted misery...!

edit: learning point is that Halford's applejack doesn't enjoy Sharpie action.

Go to Hobbycraft and pick up some of the little paints! They're super cheap and you only need red, orange and black.

And white, maybe some silver.

Sometimes it's nice to paint the lights silver and then colour them with Tamiya clear orange and red, so get those too. But that's all.

Oh, you'll want to get the black in gloss, semigloss and matt too. While you're there, you should pick up some of the super fine masking tape, it's really useful.

I forgot brushes. Get some brushes.

Also one of those little turntables.

I finally got my hands on the elusive Lima Fiat 131 from a man called Miguel in Barcelona. Not a bad little model and better than the Capri as it has windows and an interior. It reminds me a lot of the later Minix with black bases. With a bit of paint and some attention to the wheels it should look pretty decent.

A pack of cheap permanent markers for lights is another top tip, and a silver sharpie, or Tipp-Ex pen for doing stuff like lights. I picked up a pack of 10 permy markers from the land of pounds and they had orange & red in, as well as black

I'm doing well out of their unofficial affiliate programme (that's where I say nice things about them online then shoplift glitter glue).

I have now right hand drive converted my Cavascona from the Eaglemoss partwork. It was one of those projects that at first you thought would be straight forward, but nope. Whilst removing the dashboard, the drill slopped, buggering the windscren, then I noticed that at some point a headlamp lens had gone awaol, the replacement dashboard from an Altaya Lotus Omega was aright arse to fit, requiring lots of sanding & cutting to eventually fit. Glad I had some acetate sheet knocking about to make new glazing and headlamp lens.

Period correct numberplates added too.

Also rhd converted this old Morris 1300, it's a shite casting, and even that went Pete Tong, getting a big glob of glue on the windscreen, note to self, don't attemt code 3s at 3am when suffering insomnia.

Some excellent acquisitions and restorations above.

I've been accumulating some bits and bobs over the last few weeks, ranging from 20p charity shop purchases to things found in antiques and collectibles shops:

post-79-0-97447100-1530427585_thumb.jpg

Mercedes L406D by Siku, Mitsubishi Fuso by Shinsei and slammed 760 with OMG negative camber (axles a bit bent). No markings whatsoever on the base of the latter and it's a rather crude if amusing casting. If it's of interest to anyone let me know - I can bring it to FOTU and it'll be a freebie.

post-79-0-29221900-1530427818_thumb.jpg

Never seen one of these garages before, looks like it will fit onto the track systems I am familiar with. As much as anything I like the box, a jumbo version of the usual Superfast effort.

The Rolls Royce was an odd find - I went to a local antiques shop where I'd seen he had a few MIB Superfast on display. He then produced a box with even more from behind the counter, the sort of thing I dream about (genuinely), but sod's law dictated that I already had them all except one, the Pi-Eyed Piper. Opened the box up to have a look and this was inside it, kind of a shame not to be able to fill a gap in my MIB collection but the Rolls is one I'm also looking for. I suspect it'll be a while before I can find one boxed at an affordable price so for now this will do. Did have a look through the rest of the boxes to see if any others had ended up in the wrong ones, but it was just this one.

Various others. Pleased to find the Matchbox Skyline at 20p, I struggle to get to shops that stock the current range. Firebird is by Greenlight and seems rather long and thin. The Dune Buggy is by Lone Star, can't recall seeing any of their stuff when I was a youngster. I thought it was a some generic plastic modern Chinese thing, but was surprised to see a metal baseplate and "Made in England". MIB Cosmobile turned out to be a duplicate, I'm sure I can trade that at a future toyfair.

Excellent stuff, I have that same 740, only really got it because I collect them, its wonderfully shite!

Yet more waterslide experimentation :)

This time with white waterslide paper because without a super posh printer you can't print white.
