They’ll both be castings that very very rarely reach the shop shelves. Shortly after release they’ll all start appearing on eBay at vastly inflated prices. Unfortunately.

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag does look superb though, as does that mk1 Cortina.

It's getting like that with so many new HW releases, I still haven't found the Optimus Prime!

Majorette’s new 240 estate looks a cracker too from what I’ve seen of it on here. I haven’t seen one in the metal yet.

I've a few of the earlier white release, not seen the red one yet; the front and rear are absolutely bang on in my eyes for a late model 240 estate but it looks slightly too long in the rear doors. Certainly a cracking effort and well worth grabbing if you can find one.

Majorette 240 all the way, I don’t know what type of 240 the corgi one was supposed to be but it’s not one I’ve ever seen…

Noticed something weird putting my Corgis away. One of the red Whizzwheels Cougars was painted red over white

I found a tattier one that shows it even more. I guess they had white painted ones left over so they got a respray

Some recent finds in no particular order.

Corgi Cadillac superior ambulance.

First one I've found complete with the battery box and bulb.

Sadly the bulb doesn't work.

Model shed progress!

Lights are in and working.
All walls & ceiling finished and painted.
Windows sealed up.
Door fitted, varnished & lock/handles fitted.
Benches with underneath storage shelves built in around 3 walls. All made from 2x1 planed framing with 2x2 planed legs. 12mm ply tops.
Carpet tiles laid loosely. Some need cutting to fit but that’s a job for tomorrow.

IMG_6955.jpeg.1860fbf231a59dd5d0eb5f046a8da0f8.jpeg

IMG_6956.jpeg.805def6a0865904080eeb554fcfd16fc.jpeg

Made a workbench for actually building my models etc etc too.

IMG_6957.jpeg.e336a6dd0bca6634a2ad43b188a96468.jpeg

Top is 25mm ply, with frame of 4x2 underneath it. Legs are thick timber that came with some other timber deliveries as packing but it’s very sturdy good wood so perfect for recycling into the legs. Bracing on legs is all off cuts and reused scrap timber.
I’ll secure it to the wall & floor eventually so it won’t move them I’ve got a small vice to fit on it too.

Getting close now!

Any desire for these two fine specimens? Both really tidy but they’re not my thing. £1 for the pair plus postage.

Great work looks brill.

Dunno what small vice you've got but if you ever want to get a vintage one the Record Imp is small clamps on & is very good.

I’ve a few Record Vices, brilliant bits of kit from when Sheffield was a world leader in things like that. All unfortunately gone now, flogged off for a pittance then the quality turned to shite. Then again they were partly the architects of it, once you bought one you never needed another, some of mine are 50-60 years old and still work perfectly!

👍

The vice I’ve got is a bolt on type. Can’t remember the brand but I don’t think it’s anything particularly special.
It’s fairly old though, I’ve had it years. I actually had it bolted onto the workbench in the back of my work vans when I worked at SSE. It’s been fitted to two Transit’s and two Sprinters! It got pretty well used in that time too. Being small it was perfect so you didn’t keep bashing yourself on it when walking through the van!

Yep true. I've got a few of various makes. All the older British stuff tended to be built well so just lasted. Sadly so many makers like Parkinsons, Fortis,  & Britsh made Records all gone now.

I don't understand why folk now buy the surprisingly expensive ( but shite) modern ones when they could get an old one that's 100 times better built !

Those new ones are laughably shit, but a good Record Fitters vice is a few hundred quid now, mine I gave £40 for it a number of years ago. It’s fantastic.

That said not all the old stuff was the best, I picked some exceptionally good chisels up in Lidl, £8 for a set, with some work they’ve turned into a good set. I digress anyway…

One of the guys I worked with had a new cheapo Chinese vice on his vans workbench. It’d only been used a few times but one day we used it to hold a part of some switchgear we were working on and it literally started bending in the middle as it was tightened up. Not long after it cracked and split in half between the jaws. Absolute shit.
