Apologies… although I’m a *collector* I’m no expert on the subject ☹️

The applied-for patent for the Mustang would be the steering mechanism design

For the others (Superfast) it was likely the axle mounting and use of thinner axles that would reduce friction.

Has anyone heard of Fighting Furies - a range of pirates and similar characters Lesney made in the 70’s?

They were one of those things I remember seeing in the back of the catalogue, but I don't remember seeing them in the shops.

Another one was the plastic fruits & vegetables that had wheels, engines & other parts you stuck into them to make cars.Sort of in the style of Mr Potato Head 😜

I've seen those in the catalogues but not IRL. I would imagine most of the bits went up the vacuum cleaner long ago

I’ve just spent the last few days in Amsterdam paying up to 11.5€ for 500ml of beer 😳 *and I like a beer or two, plus it was my birthday!

I am watching a Dutch series called Bij ons op de Wallen. It is about the people who live and work in the Wallen, a neighbourhood of Amsterdam. One part showed a group of British blokes in a bar being entertained* by mistress Kylie. I hope your mates did not give you the same present. It looked painful. 🫣

Thankfully, If I had mates like that they would not be mates when I got back home.

The series its self is interesting. I have only been to Amsterdam for tow visits. One was a quick walk around. The second was canal boat tour because it was my brother-in-laws  50th birthday. That is a special birthday for the Dutch.

The red light district is an eye opener. I thought they’d all be old hags but most of them looked like supermodels.

Set out this morning to get a Fiesta but came back with these two.

I got them from the Entertainer in the local shopping center. It was rammed to the brim with hipsters seeking out artizan coffee and paint your own pottery figurines, I did well avoiding for the most part.

Then the handbrake on the daily Panda 169 was only working on one side. So after I had adjusted the shoes I had to test drive it to Tescos and found a Fiesta, well two actually!

I've just been reading about that.  The group it's been posted to seems to think it's probably a scam of some sort, not helped by at least two spammers cluttering up the resultant thread.  It could be; but it could also be genuine.  Most of us here on this thread have huge collections, and when we're gone, what will happen to it all?  MrsR tells me with the inevitability of the Radio 2 pips that she will just skip the lot, regardless of me leaving them to the Motor Museum, and I'm sure she's not the only collector's wife who thinks that way.  I'll just have to outlive her...

If it is genuine, then this bloke has picked up a right bargain.

I'd happily save Mrs R the bother and take them to the museum myself, should the worst ever (hopefully not)  happen.
