I seem to be getting further behind with the CMC deliveries, Elan just arrived

The more I see this CMC Elan, the more I really want one, whats the cheapest place to get one? By the way in my experience the driver always sits side saddle like this.

I had a few minutes to unpack and have a quick look at my recent BungleBox today

Individually wrapped too!

The caravans for Mrs Concern and I have plans for most of the rest, I'll update with my ideas later, but safe to say I'm super pleased with all this tat! Thanks @bunglebus

IMG_8072.thumb.JPG.b364c8ad7c43c1ce43537e98fb945058.JPG

Today's delivery was a recent ebay cheapish buy, £7.50 for this

IMG_8073.thumb.JPG.e270a4e631282385c65a1f64e0639954.JPG

Most of the bits still on it only missing a couple of tyres for the winch, the cotton, the hooks and one of the horns broken off. The tips of the jib are good and ladders, mirrors, exhaust and glazing all good so I'm happy with it

IMG_8075.thumb.JPG.d4017f3827880e8498a923520cfb6ebf.JPG

Especially as this came with it

IMG_8076.thumb.JPG.88ff2e58b16d88fdd326ec59bc39ac50.JPG

Yes it's a re paint, but still has all the winch assembly and tow hook, which is unusual

Silver Jubilee buses did actually exist (25 of them, appropriately enough) but they were all Routemasters. I guess Lesney just had to make the best of the only double-deck bus casting they had.

Now @Datsuncog needs* to find Corgi's similar-scaled Jubilee Routemaster to go with it.

Perhaps to add to that, a Matchbox Daimler Fleetline DMS 'Londoner' needs a Dinky Leyland Atlantean in the shelving fleet too

It wasn't just RMs in London, there were plenty around the country that got a celebratory make-over

Example here is West Midlands Daimler Fleetline 6431 NOC 431R.  Sponsored by Woolworth - those were the days.

TTC Diecast commissioned a model of sister NOC 432R from Rapido, which can be yours for only £54.95.

Here's a couple of Britbuses that were in silver jubilee livery and had a simple rework for my fleet. The Metropolitan was West Midlands and the Atlantean was Southdown.

Is someone pulling my leg about Matchbox Superkings Londoners having a bell?

Only seen that on the Dinky bus - one of you should have received one this week funny enough

Nope, when originally released it did indeed have a bell and the evidence of it remained throughout its life. Look underneath and you'll find a circular cutout in the rear of the base; that's where the bell was, operated by a lever sticking out of the back. The Matchbox wiki says the bell was phased out around 1980 but it must have been earlier if it had gone by the jubilee in 1977. I have a feeling it might only have been fitted to the very first version in 1973 before being deleted to save money.

Haul from a rather wet drive around Suffolk and Essex on Thursday:

IMG_8852.thumb.JPG.43eee216082037e199c4dafaa81f5066.JPG

F&Fs from B&M. I know @bunglebus has a Z put aside for me, but no issue if I end up with a couple - maybe open one up and repaint it someday? Bugatti is for Master SL (sshhh).

Stowmarket B&M had a particularly wide range of the F&F cars, but at £3.49 a pop I'm a bit more selective about them.

HWs from a couple of different Aldis. If this is the case that should have the Datsun estate and Alfa then they'd already gone, I was surprised to find the Volvo.

Braintree had lots yesterday too - if anyone spots the Charger Daytona (possibly from an earlier mix) that's the only one I'm hunting for

For the full London tourist tat vibe @Datsuncog needs to get one of these.

RIP Her Maj.

As it’s 2023 we can fit a Ring door bell.

Both of those sound interesting too! I was having a good old study of the Ka tonight, it's a jolly nice wee thing and is going to display very well indeed.

And the Opel Tigra20231104_115154.thumb.jpg.867481c15b6944b35736463a2fc18057.jpg

All of them are officially licensed, the Tigra has a pull back motor like the Ka,but the Peugeots don't.

Hello all
I dug these out of the loft before they were lurking in an old shoebox up there.
Mostly Matchbox with  a couple of Hotwheels.
I'd have got these in the mid 1980's I reckon.
Cheers

Seeing that style of 1980's MB packaging brings back many happy childhood memories, (can say the same about the later dark blue with lighter blue grid lines type packaging)

Cut down the windows and got a coat of primer on the Moggy.

I still need to tweak the back window so it fits with the boot lid panel.

Some bus shite in miniature. These look like the sort of miserable 1970s school buses Scarfolk Council might have run in its Department of Education, Schools and Learning (a multi-faceted department with many diverse responsibilities). I can just imagine them waiting to pick up a load of happy* kids outside a grim brutalist comprehensive made of dodgy concrete and asbestos. They're all resin kits of Bedfords usually found with the Irish state-owned operator CIE/Bus Eireann.

DVO783T  looks like a slightly later version of the military liveried school buses that carted me from RAF Bruggen to school at Rheindahlen (JHQ/BAOR) from 1966-67.  I think they were SB3s but there were still a few earlier models in use - the ones with a watered down Green Goddess type styling at the front.  Most were army olive green but a couple were RAF blue which is similar to your nice models.

Those would have been Strachans bodies like this, the standard military bus of the sixties:

The blue one is actually a Metal Sections body assembled in Ireland and never seen in the UK in either military or civilian use. It does look quite similar to the Strachans with its pointy front.

I just gave them a bit of a wash and had some strange reactions I've not seen before. I tried a quick wipe with cellulose thinners  on the red ink or paint on the Jensen, did nothing, so into some water and the bits with red started to come off taking the yellow underneath with it, bugger!

All of these were £2, but got a bit off as Mrs Concern bought some stuff from the same seller and he gave us that free, so not too bad.
