I popped into the late boot sale this morning but people were already packing up. Bought 4 cars! On my return there was a Cogparcel and another that annoyingly had half the contents missing - including an X-Raycer Mini that I was going to pass on to @FakeConcern. However, by the strangest of coincidences, this was one of my finds today

20230513_164229

I'm waiting for the seller to get back to me about the missing one but either way I now have one extra

Here are some interesting* bits from my arrivals

I had a pair of these K-24 Scammell Container Trucks previously but sold them off last year. Neither had the actual container and one seems to be more common than the other

20230513_17395320230513_173832

I was watching a couple of these 240Zs as I wanted a black base/no stripe version to replace my childhood one, both were about the same price and condition but when one sold I felt I ought to grab the other one. It's pretty good all told

20230513_173620

Someone needs to make reproduction gliders and clear tops for these trailers - belongs behind the green RS2000

20230513_173048

Minx was in the Cogdelivery

20230513_172913

Those WWII era newspapers were wrapped around a load of mostly knackered Matchbox, but this Scorpions Phantom was among them. Having missed out on the Hot Wheels Sizzlers Ford MKIV I spotted a few weeks back, this was a pleasing win for not a lot

20230513_17262620230513_17263120230513_17263920230513_172651

A lot of the cars had been repainted and fitted with home made wheels covers - luckily this only had the later and I got most of the card and glue off!

Here's one of the other "customs"

20230513_16500520230513_165010

Yum.

Lonesome Onesome is a rare colour but needs lots of help. Don't think that black is coming of easily

20230513_172548

This Supervan II is also a long way from mint but is the unusual Lights and Sounds version

20230513_172412

I only noticed a few days ago that those 8 hole wheels are actually set out as four pair of two holes rather than being evenly spaced. Only taken me about 35 years to notice.

Here are some more. I feel a little bit guilty about this one as I know someone else would like the blue Sierra

20230513_172035

Buick Le Sabre is not a colour changer

20230513_171729

Mister Two has lost the 80s CD Laser Wheels effect due to wear, can't think of an easy way to repair them

Trickshifter!

20230513_171346

Two more boot sale finds, made up at getting these for a quid each!

Looks pretty good too, you lucky bugger!

How about some carded cars?

Matchbox Camper

20230513_161648

As I already knew, the top is a little more yellowed on one side than the other, but I don't think I'll risk using anything to try and improve it - it's far to tidy to risk it

20230513_171308

Dinky branded Matchbox Firebird SE is another one no longer attached to its card

Corvette is still sealed though

This kinda looks like a Matchbox, but is a Road Champs branded Yatming

Evening all.

I just got a Vanguards Rover 2000 P6 in dark red it's  not boxed but it's nice.  Thing is i thought they were made in China, mine says Made in England by Lledo PLC Enfield England,  on the bottom ?

Any ideas, is that right ?

Cheers

Yes, that's correct.  Vanguards were first made by Lledo and were well into their stride before production was transferred to China.

Returning to the present day, I decided to get the Wagons 5 pack while they were a reasonable price

@Datsuncogkindly tracked me down the full set of Hot Wheels Flying Customs, still yet to see a single one of these in a BuM anywhere

20230513_16081720230513_160725

This one is my favourite, as I somehow spotted in hiding in a 10 pack where it had no business being

Glad they all showed up safely! Apologies for the unconventional split packaging, I've little in the way of 'useful sized' boxes right now...

Cog-supplied 914 is a little mysterious. Wheels are clearly too small, interior looks brown...

20230513_16222720230513_162251

Time to whip it apart and investigate!

20230513_162522

I'm saying repaint as that plate between the door hinges should be bare metal, and interior appears to be badly faded red. Ah well worth a shot but it's not a rarity

I have someone for the Volvo but at 50p each I couldn't leave either behind, could I?  If anybody really wants a resto-project Fire Bug, I'm not too attached to it yet.  Once I get the drill out to begin restoration it'll be too late to say you wanted it!

Happened upon these at our tiny local branch.

2023 case and not a bad selection of prototypical and fantasy vehicles.

Cheapest I've seen, at £1.49 a go. Poundland are a penny dearer. Tesco are 70p dearer. Sainsburys are a whopping 80p more expensive for the same damn thing.

Screw those guys.

Might have slipped the blue 1970 Dodge Power Wagon on the right-hand peg into my basket, as I seem to be on a bit of an AWD off-road tip at present.

If it's just for taking photos, a tiny rolled up piece of paper or a slither of matching rock material chocking the rearmost hidden wheel should do the trick.

So I've heard. Of course, I don't partake in such frippery, as you all well know..

I can't help thinking Husky missed a trick here. If they'd put that cameraman figure from the Studebaker on the roof of the DS Safari and painted it green and grey they could easily have made a toy version of the BBC roving eye.

Random bag of stuff from this morning's toy fair visit (which had added @trigger content, as he lives nearby):

It wasn't very big but I found enough.

Pale blue Mk2 Granada at the bottom has a pullback motor.

Green and blue vans are pretty terrible, probably familiar to others here. The blue "Delightful Van" Yatming CF doesn't have a name, yet the green "Zoom!!" one that's rather questionable is titled Bedford but looks more American.

Repainted Corgi and Matchbox Capris are potential projects.  Never had the former, rooflne is somewhat chopped - could become a period Super Rod or Saloon Stock Car?

Scuffed 105E ideal for a National Hot Rod, maybe the R2000 too.

Majorette artic trucks are Bernard, for some reason despite having quite a few of their commercials they were new to me.

Superfast Mercury wagon (with dogs) is a bit of a placeholder until I find a boxed example to go with the fire/police versions I already have.

No boxed Superfast, but the three Corgis at the back were a pleasing find.

Big SD1 looks like it saw a bit of action on its last shout, with a cracked windscreen.

Last one - is a Bernard a real truck, and did it really have porthole windows?

Nice coincidence on the Bernard purchasing!

Granada is a Rainbow Toys, grandaddy of the MC Toys version and an excellent find. Anglia is Hot Wheels and also quite unusual as it was only released in that colour and a Harry Pothead blue version. How odd we both found a Bernard on the same day, having not known of them before!

Jeepers, just seen what people are asking for it (but not necessarily getting, of course) on eBay. Mine certainly wasn't that much.....

You can buy the earlier versions too if you so desire. Company lasted 1923 - 1967 then went bust and were absorbed into Mack
