They both are - the rollcage is a good clue. I'll get that yellow checkered roof one day!

I think the only Hot Wheels I've ever had is the Mebetoys Boss Mustang and the only one I want apart from the Mini I've just discovered is a Citroen C4 VTS. They seem pretty common, but I've never found one at a boot fair.

Gah!

Wish I hadn’t seen this one

Ooft that's a belter, the headlights are spot on. I have a 1/18 version made by UT models and one of these would go nicely with it. The Vanguards captures all the important features of a 1990s Escort.

Aye, I've got the UT 1/18 Escort too. One of my few remaining 1/18s (along with the Revell Manta GT/E) that I'll not part with!

@AndyW201 - just picked up the blue Cosworth myself - they look great. IXO do a Mk6 Escort estate, there are a couple on ebay but haven't brought myself to get one yet though definitely on the radar.

Gah! Forgot about the IXO estate, been watching them myself, especially the silver one. If they'd done a hatchback though, I'd probably already have one. I was torn between the blue Vanguards Cosworth and the Violet, but the interior on the Violet was what swung it!

Would probably look good with some of that weathering wash stuff on it?

This was my best find today, a Cursor VW K70. It was in bits but I managed to find most of it rattling around in the box - I very nearly bid on a £15 one recently. This one was FREE

I won't buy that Mini then (although I like the wheels). Nice models (the Beetles) but not into them, just Minis!

When collecting Minis you have to draw the line somewhere. I only collect 1/43rd scale and original 1960s and 1970s produced stuff. If I collected everything Mini the house would be full, instead of just one room.

I agree up to a point.

What I'm generally aiming to do is collect all the lost and broken Corgi/Dinky toys from my childhood, restore some of the ones that aren't too far gone and also collect some that I always wanted, but never got.

I already have a few Minis in various makes and scales so I'll add the odd one or two I like a lot and those Hot Wheels ones fit the bill as for some reason I love the look of them!

That's pretty-much what @danthecapriman and I are doing!  Our case is complicated by our love of American cars, and mine of police cars, but broadly speaking, we're on the same page.

Thought I'd check if this one is loose.  But no, it's pretty much welded home!  And so are all the other Kidcos and Dinkies

Used a torch to peer underneath through the suspension tab, but couldn't see evidence of a fixing.  Not that I was expecting to se a self-tapping screw in the first place...

Found another the same - so the factory method of securing the load cover is a self tapper! Can't see that getting a CE mark...

I'm thinking of tunnelling below the garage/garden Dibnah style, and building something similar. I reckon I'll install a discrete drop hatch somewhere on ground level too for so the courier can drop kick each diecast delivery straight down into the epicentre and Mrs DL won't have to worry about the inside of the house doing a Trebus any more.

Matchbox Mercury Commuter with the steering chassis and a unique* paintwork to get accustomed to

Another package arrived, this time from Post Man in a van™

IMG_20230303_130429_1.thumb.jpg.bbba7c371486172c963f6e61fdc6509e.jpg

The main WANT AND WON IT was the Lone Star Road Master Ford Sunliner.  Was very surprised that this didn't get a bid over £1.31 (?!) and I think the seller was too.  Especially as Steve Flowers Pops does the screen for £2.50.  Very pleased as been after one for a while and it's all there otherwise and in great nick.

The rest of them were to -ahem- make up the postage weight, as I try and tell myself:

Matchbox Studebaker Wagonaire.  The sliding rear roof part is there but will need to get a new screen piece.  Never had one.

Yet another Lone Star Chrysler Imperial.  Well you can't have too many of these, it's those jewelled headlamps...

Matchbox Mercedes-Benz 300 SE Coupe wearing the pre-Superfast wheelset and (some of its) first-release GREEN, for a change.

Corgi Ford Thames Airborne Caravan, do have a far better one already so this perhaps (if I ever find the time) might be attacked by Dremmel and live on as the yellow 'Jazz Band Wagon', complete with the whitewall tyres.  To get the vision out of my head, at least.

Because you can TRUMPET AND DRIVE !

Anyway, that Sunliner:

IMG_20230303_130441.jpg.638d5249f48cbad8099f4d8ada4a6315.jpg

Modelled on the 1960 Ford Galaxie Sunliner, although it misses the mark in a few places

IMG_20230303_130448_1.jpg.221c421fb912ef426dd687582c197884.jpg

...never mind, it's tidy.

IMG_20230303_130501.jpg.4e60664782b4d375c8b75668dc32ed50.jpg

And blue.  With red.  And some white!

I thought all you needed was glazing?  This is complete with the the pre-Superfast wheels I wanted, and too good for donorising

Another parcel... this time from Evri Man in his car™

WP_20230311_17_32_15_Rich.jpg.b72390e6f9ce4721fc0183e43819ea69.jpg

Matchbox Vauxhall Cresta PA.  Never had one of those before.

Morestone (Budgie) Wolseley Police Car being clambered over.  To go with the big Budgie version.

ERTL 1936 Ford V8 Coupe, Dick Tracy's car in the 1990 film.  Logo on the Dickie seat lid, in case Dick forgets.

And the elusive until now Dublo (Dinky) Volkswagen Delivery Van.  The sole Dublo in the out-of-control 'collection' back here.   To go in the area of cabinet where the maker's self-branded vans go.  There are a few now...

Thanks, @Macscrooge :)

As if it's not tricky enough to get parked around The Markets without CIA goons everywhere.

Well, if he thinks he's going to be swanning back on to Air Force One with a sense of having cemented international relations and with a pocketful of lightly scuffed Corgi Juniors with early Whizzwheels, he's got another think coming...

There is only the one chrome Pilen back here.  A slightly borked example of the Monza GT.

WP_20230206_19_03_13_Rich.thumb.jpg.bfe692f43f38ee197b780bfeac961389.jpg

It shares shelf space with a Joal Monza GT (the red one), which is equally as brittle!

The chrome does try its best to take your focus away from the borked bits

WP_20230206_19_04_38_Rich.thumb.jpg.a4c7b804a149235239ee78280de977ac.jpg

I wrongly assumed that the Joal, Tekno and Pilen all shared the same castings and fittings
