Shite in Miniature II

Well then - despite getting a clear run in, and managing to park directly outside the market, I was not the first to today's Tat Table.

As feared a few weeks back, The Nemesis did not take kindly to me besting him over the Rockets Capri and Gamdakoor Impala, so presumably now has his alarm set for 4.30 to ensure maximum diecast opportunity.

Hell's teeth, it was only 7.45 and he already had a sizeable stack set aside at the back of the stall.

856523526_IMG_20230317_0808282.thumb.jpg.f4eb46f6901033a1d6c999f34e474ed0.jpg

That's a Mk1 Escort, Avenger, and P6 in rozzermobile trim he's had, plus a Mini 3-piece set - and I was saddened to note there had been a delightful Roman Bronze MkIV Cortina in the crates, along with two police Transits - one of which was the accident set, with figures and cones and whatnot.

2139713122_IMG_20230317_0801142.thumb.jpg.93909c2fdc367bb24ed734fe89496a85.jpg

He'd also dibsed an early Corgi Classics Mk1 Lotus Cortina, that blue Series 1 P6 under discussion yesterday, and the red Mk1 Granada that I'd kinda had an eye on.

Must be £100+ there, easily.

Yeah, this is kinda getting out of my league, somewhat. Talk about an arms race.

*Sigh*... Looks like this is the only Roman Bronze I'll be getting my paws on today...

But! All maudlins aside, here's what there actually was left:

1980544413_IMG_20230317_0749242.thumb.jpg.0dd9b4fc8dacd0f6ce22e20a6ce97446.jpg

Plenty of police Vanguards, though the boxes are a bit rumpled and foxed.

1764137498_IMG_20230317_0749282.thumb.jpg.d989c0cbe0c4d7d1f21604cbeafe31e7.jpg

Assorted Atlas reworking of Vanguards police castings, plus civilian castings.

Top left is a Jaguar XJ12, upside down.

1832638922_IMG_20230317_0749322.thumb.jpg.f85a2aa91f911750e3984f4cd13d8a8f.jpg

More oldish Vanguards, Atlas and a stray Oxford or two.

1862875950_IMG_20230317_0750302.thumb.jpg.2705178d42f56ef1c4b9be62021201bb.jpg

There doesn't seem to be anything here that anyone had asked me to keep an eye out for

Some rally stuff - P6 and A40 - and vans.

First sweep's always a bit messy, as the stuff's usually just whacked into the crates any old how, and it takes me a while to straighten them all up.

1152804202_IMG_20230317_0753312.thumb.jpg.dc9dbd5745cdf82427eb5f9d821b11cc.jpg

That's a bit better.

Another johnny-come-lately box then put in an appearance:

1013512479_IMG_20230317_0804072.thumb.jpg.da2afbc52b0ab85c91beee43dfa0c770.jpg

I'd hoped there might be some treasures therein, but not really.

I don't know why there's a Vanguards Anglia in a Schabak box - just one of many mysteries...

67064965_IMG_20230317_0804262.thumb.jpg.7b70fe9e7fa7a3f8a0539a023e0f5385.jpg

Cararama 1/43 all rattling round loose in their boxes.

Also some late 1990s twin sets, priced at £15.

1843483097_IMG_20230317_0808062.thumb.jpg.916df3a3db5fb2ff342c29ff31efbb1d.jpg

And this Haynes tie-in, also £15.

2107576393_IMG_20230317_0808222.thumb.jpg.f02a2667fb2aa86d40462d10bd5dd0a4.jpg

There were also a few loose items - but mainly just last week's stuff.

1102195968_IMG_20230317_0758352.thumb.jpg.3ac544ac384de4ef30fa4756b25a7226.jpg

Corgi Classics were very dusty and missing mirrors and wipers etc.

And there were some loose Hot Wheels and similar.

1536908589_IMG_20230317_0800292.thumb.jpg.c226013e6e5e9e97985f2162c15e3f5e.jpg

'And similar' encompassing these no-names:

181541296_IMG_20230317_0800442.thumb.jpg.028f114e1f7c76ba606d45175b04a2cf.jpg

And that was... kinda that, I'm afraid.

1166331362_IMG_20230317_0806272.thumb.jpg.e01836e6eddc75e97dddc38ff760c44c.jpg

Ah well.

You learn something new every day. I mentioned when I found the new Hot Wheels 72 Stingray that I liked the headlights being made as part of the glazing. It seems it has another trick up its sleeve too

This one does the same apparently

I've seen no mention of this anywhere before, nothing on the pack. If there's a moving part it's usually shown as a diagram on the back. Hopefully there will be others, Trans-O-Lite isn't dead!

How odd that this feature isn't advertised.

There wasn't much to be seen on the other stalls today, really.

Alan's 50p Tray was uncharacteristically chaotic, but didn't have much new to interest.

284484513_IMG_20230317_0910002.thumb.jpg.2e614adbb345288cd07992ae58189a59.jpg

Charity Stall had even less.

Unless you're mad keen on secondhand kitchen gadgets...

Irish Gifts had more Hot Wheels, and the same Greenlights we've seen before...

And also this boxed ID Racer at the top right, at a fiver.

1889727715_IMG_20230317_0816402.thumb.jpg.ceecadfbd9f01b80532e6ab26e6925dc.jpg

It's probably a good day for him to offload these Greenlights, too...

So, there we are.

With no office to scuttle back to, I sat down with a coffee and a remarkably crumbly scone to crop the photos and assemble some sort of summary to chronicle the morning for posterity... But I think that might be it for this week.

Happy Friday, kids.

Wouldn't mind that A40 rally please Tim if you're still in the area?

Wouldn't say no to the Consul GT plod car either, but I only want it as a wheels and spotlights donor. Unlikely he'll do a deal on two cars?

I was still around - and the '59 Monte Carlo Rally-winning A40 now picked up for you.

No deals currently offered - it's all new stock, so he's keen to get a tenner each on them.

I daresay in a few weeks he'd be happy to reduce them to £5/ discuss deals on whatever's left, but not just yet...

We do now know that Nemesis must be running an eBay resale shop somewhere as it's not just loose playworn restorables

Having done Ebay for a number of years myself, I would list that little lot at a total of around £200 to £350. The Nemesis has creamed the best of the top, as most of what is left I would list for between £10 and £20. However, if the boxes are scuffed or creased it knackers them. Also I would check carefully that the mirrors and wipers were still there, they do have a habit of disappearing when they have been displayed previously, and with the earlier ones, the mirrors came in the box, and there is no room for them if they are repacked.

I'd be tempted by that Haynes book. If it is still there next week left me know. Thanks

Just found out it is modelled on the HW designer's actual car

107-7378_Chevrolet-Corvette-C3.jpg

And he drives about and parks it up in the daytime with the headlamps up.

Years ago, I had a FIAT X1/9 that used to do that party trick.  But that was because it was broken.

Sure thing - will check for that next time I'm in.

A lot of the Vanguards were a bit so-so: plenty of missing/ squashed mirrors, and those rattling round the acrylic cases unsecured had lost roof lights and other details.

The Nemesis claims he doesn't do eBay, but I'm sceptical...

Ten pounds asked on that one - but then all the EFE stuff was priced the same.

What is it, and why's it rare? My knowledge of buses and bus models is rudimentary at best...

Easily over £100 for one of those - Hattons (my local) just got one in for £120 secondhand. If by some sheer luck it remained around, grab it! I'd deffo take it cos it would fill a gap.

Right folks, I may have finally gone off the reservation here...

Mooching around the charidy shops in my old stomping ground of S.W.F. I found several of those annoying plastic bags full of cars. I rescued one for this Matchbox Karmann Ghia

20230317_133944.thumb.jpg.1310b5b778e405f8e5efc353722beb87.jpg

Into the era of very nice detailing, hard to see but it's all correct inside

20230317_134001.thumb.jpg.5e29827ba1c639ccb92e8b9a83fe5ea4.jpg

Then I spotted another Volkswagen. A bigger Volkswagen. A Volkswagen that belongs to a series of toys I've never had the slightest bit of interest in. A Volkswagen that doesn't really fit in my photo booth

Other than Mr. Man's seat harness, it's all complete right down to the rockets and destruction manual, and appears un-played with. I occasionally see these at boot sales and pick them up before going NAH and walking off. Not today though

Seconded. Jotus FRM1 is rare and worth a fortune. Not interested myself but deffo worth buying at that price. Only two on ebay and one like that is £141.75 with missing mirrors!

Ah crap I never noticed that! I didn't know Jotus made their own models but then it's a while since I've been on there.

If @Rover414 doesn't want it and it's a tenner or under I would be interested.

In 1964, just before commencement of mainstream production of the RML, the final front-engined Routemasters, AEC started work on a front-entrance, rear-engined prototype, FRM1. Completed in 1966, it saw regular London service, then on London Coaches tour operations, before being withdrawn in 1983. It was unique and nicknamed the Fruitmaster.
