You've got to love the cigarette advertising on a child's toy.

Couldn't get away with that now 🤣

These early Lesneys are charming little things

Fascinating link, thanks. It looks like mine was produced in the middle of that run owing to its domed/crimped axles and grey plastic wheels. Oddly though, it doesn't have a triangular casting on the inside of the base and the grille has no sign of having ever being painted. Weird!

^ they were pretty much hand-made back then so there were lots of errors, irregularities and oddities.

When is a Corgi not a Corgi?

When it's a Hot Wheels.  Just picked these up locally in a small lot, also including:

Came home to this absolute beauty waiting for me

Even the paper number plates, tax disc and GB badge present and correct.

These are getting quite sought after and I didn't have a stock one in my collection. I'd like the race support one to replace my childhood one, I still have the 240Z that came with it in the set

It’s amazing how a so-so corgi junior can look good with a smart livery - the Shell livery on the Sierra works very well.

Another Japanese import landed in the workshop today….

Quite a smart little Tomica, if underwheeled as is usual. The Toyota tampo prints on each end are incredibly fine. All it’s missing is mirrors. As usual bought for buttons, (and touch wood import duty free) from Plaza.

The quest to find cheap redlines continues, Junior has got at this one with his paintbrush

The Python was supposed to be called "Cheetah" and a few red examples escaped bearing that name, but this is a Python. You can see where the base was changed to update the name prior to release in 1968

Same Junior also had his paint set out updating this Corgi Mini

My last order had RC bits as well, came in a biscuit tin sized card box box, and that was only £11? It was by cheapest method. Ive just logged in and it’s giving now me £19 too???

Maybe the cheap post is out the window temporarily 🤬

Master Grogee (7) has expressed an interest in a 2022 F1 car model. It's his birthday next month so I'd like to find one if I can.

Early days for the new cars but do any of you die-cast nerds know of anything affordable?

The Lego McLaren doesn't count as 'affordable'.

I've got one of those that I repainted years ago.  I actually did quite a good job too, in as near as I could get to the original colours, so I'm actually not inclined to re do it.  I also have a couple of Vanguards versions which seem so much sleeker than the Corgi.

Just going to leave these here

The Kadett and the Range Rover are a definite must have.

Interesting that Hot Wheels have brought those wheels they did everything in during the 1990’s. Matchbox did Superfast Wheels again years ago but can never seem to find them.

Just back from the toy fair, full report will have to wait as I'm off out doing birthday stuffs this afternoon, but here are a couple of things I saw

@andrew ewas strangely fascinated with this lot of Connectables

I haven't seen a Roadmaker set since I was a kid, this had all the plastic signs etc for £10

Out of sheer nosiness, any idea what the ask on the Airfix Maxi was?

I didn't even clock it but he's definitely not known for his bargain prices, often has the same stuff at too much money.

Funny story though, every time I've been to this fair, andrew e and I have picked up the same really tidy Corgi Pininfarina Alfa rattling around in a tray with other cars, and not bought it as he's wanted too much for it. Caught him selling some tatty bits to someone else for £3 out of the same tray today and asked if everything was that price...

I seem to have acquired my own nemesis, bloke that recognised me from a Facebook group, always comes and talks to me but is wherever I go, but gets there before me and hoovers up all the good stuff. He pays for early entry at the toy fair so was leaving as I got there, with another of the fuel flap Matchbox VW campers he'd grabbed for 50p. I don't need another anyway...

He's some of what he missed, all from 25p - 50p boxes

Saw another of these for £4 elsewhere

25p - obviously incomplete but I couldn't leave it behind

I've been struggling to find custom wheels for Speed Kings size customs, then I spotted a huge box of Scalextric wheels for pennies. Grabbed a couple of sets but I may well buy more if they work as planned
