Hey that Playart Fiat 850 is tip-top, I've not seen that one before.

What's the craic with the Welly Lupo? I got one a few years ago in a cheap job lot from a guy on Facebook. Are they scene or something?

Little parcel arrived today from the very lovely @bunglebus of this parish.

...Containing not one but two small-scale Rovers!  I can now, all being well, recreate this...

...Which was mine until my operation in 2018.  Naturally there isn't, AFAIK, a model of the hatchback 800, never mind the facelift variety!  So one has to improvise.  I'll let you know...

just read your signature - I am sad to see S Cross left your fleet - but Vitaras tend to be very good - was recommended one in 2013/14 but got an 04 Ignis instead - just as good!!

Was the bin lorry supposed to be a Ford Transcontinental? Certainly looks like one?

As its lower mounted and has oblong headlights, I'd say its  Berliet . Same cab essentially.

Yep all the Lupo owners want them so they go for more than you might expect on eBay. This is the third I've found so will go the same way as I have an original and a custom already.

There are other Lupo models and this is the most affordable. I'd like the larger scale Welly with opening doors if I can find one

S-Cross had come to the end of its lease, that's all.  Unusually, I'm liking the Vitara for being slightly smaller, it feels much less bloated.  Be interesting to see what happens in three years when this one comes to the end of its lease!  Ignis was a good call, we had one from new (06) and it never disappointed.

Model Suzukis are very thin on the ground.  I've painted up a railway-scale Merc ML to resemble our Ignis, which works surprisingly well.

I found out that my local monthly toy fair has been on again for a few months,so I went & had a look.

I did see a Dinky Pontiac Parisienne as mentioned on here recently,it was very nice but too pricey for me at £30

Are those old metal farm toys? I had a load of those alongside newer plastic ones when I was very young but my mum read something somewhere that they had lead in them and took them off me. They are still stored away at my parents house somewhere.

Yes,I think they're lead,or have lead in them. The seller has a big box of them,I buy 2 or 3 whenever I see him.

I could ask my mum if the ones she has are of sentimental value or not? They're just lying in a drawer somewhere.

To scale I reckon that’s a 1000 lb Turkey. Reckon that needs going in the oven pretty soon.

It worries me how we’ve lived parallel diecast lives, I had some metal Britains farm bits in with the plastic cattle. 🤣

I bought it because we met a tame turkey when we collected our cat on Saturday.Miss_155 was quite taken with him & would have had him as well if she could 😂

loved the ignis "suzy" Cried when she sold - px £250 In 2018 - I even swore at the dealer who I bought my Celerio and S Cross from - Mother has S Cross as she got rid of her car but I wash it weekly so still see it and I would have kept the ignis Although she had 98k on and I am afraid of 100K but she made it to 108k at current MoT

Been a late one today, but I was pleased to see a little package was waiting for me, all the way from France,

IMG_20211215_213650.thumb.jpg.875a6a99d747c897431f901750e4e943.jpg

Truth is, I realised I've been a bit decadent with all this Minichamps German luxo-barge buying of late, so time to go back to something a bit more shite, subject matter - wise!

IMG_20211215_213609.thumb.jpg.21d68da404e90060656fffe300eb81b6.jpg

Yep, that should do it.

IMG_20211215_212213.thumb.jpg.8abe9bafdfd581e999beb2c7b631c6f8.jpg

I was quite excited to see the Mk4 Escort, one of the chock-full-of-shite South American 'Salvat Involidables' partwork series, appear on Jumajo's listings. Previously I'd only seen it on eBay with ludicrous price tags of about £30-£40.

£8 from Jumajo seemed more like it, and that includes a posho acrylic case as well, rather than the blister packs they normally come in. Mk4 models are still relatively thin on the ground. The resin Neo RS Turbo (£££££££££££), the XR3i and recently launched (and rather good) RS Turbo by Corgi Vanguards (cheaper but still ££££££) and the old weird XR3i with RS kit, early front bumper and late rear spoiler casting  from IXO (white), Whtebox (grey) and Triple 9 (black).

But so far, this is the only standard 5 door relatively-base hatch I've come across.

IMG_20211215_211804.thumb.jpg.5c98410c1f3e9161708da6ff608cfb3d.jpg

So, as an Ixo-sourced (I think) cheap partwork, I wasn't expecting perfection and sure, we're not talking Minichamps/Vanguards levels of accuracy or finish here. But for the money, it's pretty good. The shape is captured much better than the partwork MK3 5 door that's kicking about.  As can be seen in the above pic, there's a bit of a casting flaw around the left rear arch but I think it pretty well represents any wob laden rear arch on any Mk4 since about... well... 1989 ish!

IMG_20211215_212231.thumb.jpg.1fd126ca92b990bd33979d180c7d3b00.jpg

But the GL spec wheel trims are pretty well done. Might need a bit of careful silver Sharpie action around the window frames, being a GL.

IMG_20211215_213233.thumb.jpg.630fb6e1f2b045cb2cf51d450a7c7d92.jpg

Again, hard to photograph the interior and, it's a cheap model so it's a sea of black, but the shape of the dash is there, there's a correct pattern steering wheel, and even the stubby little column stalks are there.

IMG_20211215_212615.thumb.jpg.522062e83d706dae830cd88f6913aa71.jpg

Locating tabs apart, the rear lights are pretty good too, and check out that font on the boot badges!

Tht is ace for the money. A model MK4 Escort and MK2 Fiesta is something I've long been looking for at a reasonable price. Having been thoroughly impressed with the cheap partwork SAVA - Austin BMC truck that I bought from Jumajo in October, I need to delve into their catalogue in the New Year. From the brief browse I've had, they have a model of pretty much every car I've ever wanted, for around ten to fifteen pounds. Fantastic.

Word is that the next Vanguards casting is likely to be a MK2 Fiesta, with provision for sporty and standard models, so fairly pricey but still a lot cheaper than what's on offer currently.

Posted

I've only bought one Vanguards in the past decade because I think they are simply too expensive now. I think there was a MK2 Fiesta made by another manufacturer about 20 years ago but the name escapes me.

Very nice. Was that the one ebay the other day? A real bargain if so, I reckon! Really nice condition.

I watchlisted it and got sent an offer so was a pretty good price. Makes up for keep getting sniped on stuff lately...

While having a rummage through cupboards at my parents house to find a couple of EFE busses to help my 12 month challenge, I found a few other models.

40 models of yesteryear.

Two boxes of random models - more detail when I have time to come back and take a proper look - and these

Quite pricey nowadays, and that's if you can find one. I've seen a part-work yellow Ghia, which might be from the same casting, but again, rare.
