I remember that now! I always meant to get another one after I sold my original some years ago.

As I understand it, the very first ones were matt (well more like satin) black, but very soon changed to gloss, hence the matt is very rare

Your right. I have just checked through the Vectis archive and found that they have had 34 Matt Black Batmobiles go through their sale room in the last 20 years or so. I've never taken much notice of them before as I am not that interested in kids TV stuff anymore, even though I had all the Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet and UFO Dinkys when younger.

Had to go through town today so I stuck my head in Smyths - overflowing pegs full of mainlines and premiums, found the Fish'd N Chip'd treasure hunt

And by sheer coincidence, the Redline Porsche 959 arrived too. Photographing a very shiny dark blue car in it's blister is challenging to say the least!

From that article

Quote

Corgi replaced the Ford H cab with a Scammell Handyman which might have had fewer details or working features but had the advantage for British (and Irish) children of being much more likely to be encountered on the roads

Very valid point - as a boy it would have been the recognisable Bedfords and Scammell in very time

I'm just imagining what a Jag MkX Coupe would look like, probably more swoopy than an XJ6 Coupe.

Corgi Whizzwheels Cortina GXL. These are usually up for a kings ransom on eBay, thankfully I got this one for quite a bit cheaper. The axles and wheels still guve smooth performance and apart from a few smallish blemishes, the paint is still mostly there.

Mk2 Fiesta, again, got for cheap-ish as you find on eBay, still can't find them in any of the local stores. I like the details, they are very faithful to the car. It's a shame that these weren't made before.

Stahlberg Volvo. Apparently I had one of these a toddler, I've seen the photos, but it was in a lighter blue. These usually go for about £40 on the bay of e, I got for almost half price. 'Tis a bit wobbly in places (you'll notice the rear sill is dropping down a tad) but I've got one now.

Also, I'm in need of a front grill for a Stahlberg Saab 9000 saloon I have. Stupidly as a kid I took it off to pretend I'm doing car repairs and obviously lost it. I have written to the manufacturer and had no reply. So if anyone knows where I can get a front end from, please let me know, I'm after the front grille and lights set up here:

I kept on reading about the Stahlbergs being 1/20 in scale which is between 1/18 and 1/24 but for some reason I had it in my head that they were slightly bigger than 1/18 😅

They are a really good model and I'll be looking for the 340DL etc... from next year.

Those Ford H Series are sooooo cool.
I have the Scammell tractor unit (well it's in storage) & that's seriously cool but that Ford looks brill.

Any chance of anyone showing close up picks of all its cool features?

Not that this thread is helping my current plan not to buy anything due to lack of space..

I have taken some crap pics of a couple of not very good examples (my better ones seem to be extra well hidden! of Corgi H Series on a crap iphone 5!

Sorry they're not very good...

I'd have a go with some meths or surgical spirit, but I'd expect the marker to have stained the paint all the same.

Worked quite well on the BMW

It’s too far gone I’m afraid. I started with the Mrs nail polish remover and it took the original paint off on the side you can’t see.

Never seen that before. Obviously it's meant to be a Jaguar but I don't think Mattel could get it licenced.

There's a portion of fish n chips on the passenger seat, and a tiny Hot Wheels car on the picnic tray behind the front seats.

The name is a bit of an oddity, supposedly it's a term meaning customised but I've never known that reference to be used anywhere else

Graphics designer Wayne Scott mentioned customizing the Jag by chopping the roof line and lowering it (Fish & Chip as the English term)

Usually I leave nail polish remover or the wipes of it as a last resort. It’s pretty strong stuff and while it definitely does work sometimes, it can, as you’ve found, do more harm than good. Watch it on clear plastic windows etc too as it can very quickly turn it milky!

T-Cut (original) on a cotton bud and gently buffing can work, as can meths/surgical spirit/white spirit in similar manner.
Just need to be careful and gentle with the pressure.

The Fluevog MkX took two years to build and debuted at the All British Field Meet at Portland Oregon in 2013.

Fish'd & Chip'd is a two-door and was first produced 2003

It does appear that one influenced the other, but I’ve never seen that mentioned in any of the articles where John Fluevog was interviewed about its design and build

Corgi Model Club have absolutely smashed it with this one, I've had a few Batmobiles over the years but seeing one as it would have been new, with all the extras, is just fantastic. It must be quite a feat of engineering too as I understand these are challenging to restore and assemble.

i took advantage of their offer of being able to order another 1 or 2 at the club price

wierdly the 1st one was cert 1377 & 2nd one has come as 2374

I'd be interested to see the bases on the non original ones

Surprised they took so long to do a 'Hunt' release on that casting...

Plenty of daft and dubious releases including Star Wars and Disney characters for years now, but no 'Hunt'.  Saying that, I still bought a good few of them...  including the original blue over silver release, new.

The questionable story about the name has had discussion previously https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/Talk:Fish'd_%26_Chip'd

The tiny models look like they could be from 'The Worlds Smallest Matchbox' series, which were available from 1990 to 1992, and issued as a rival to Galoob's Micro Machines range.

Not much info online but there are quite a few ebay listings for them.
