Wow

Got a couple of perfect Gama Beetles, not seen that version before - almost the least appropriate body style for a Herbie replica!

Next door is Home Bargains, seems to be on their distribution centre site so hoped for good things. Hardly anything on the pegs, but just as I was leaving I saw someone with a box, only a few in it but I offered to fill the pegs while looking through them...

It looks as though the numbers are applied with a sharpie, but pretty sure the stripes are original. Would you like this one?

Think I'll pass on that, thank you, much as the Herbie theme appeals to me. If it was in nicer condition I think I'd find it hard to resist!

Not seen a Vitesse Vette before

Missing the screen, I need to compare it to a Corgi version

IMG_0577.thumb.JPG.89b8b84cb763da639f0622d83744f251.JPG

Vitesse did most of the Le Mans Corvette from the era.

DSCF8507.thumb.JPG.5498b11db9b99d5b36e8da4941c25eca.JPG

They also did road going C1, C3 and C5 models.

The C1 was an early Vitesse and is quite crude.

DSCF0541.thumb.JPG.63d684a2b7a96920ebca294312423e12.JPG

The C3 and C4 are quite good and both came in Coupe and Convertible styles.

Coupe version with T-Top lines in roof. Vitesse cheated a bit just plonking a plastic roof that looks more like a convertible hard top on the model.

Would it not be possible to get a scan and 3D print of the Corgi, reducing it down to 1/43rd. I think it is 1/36 scale, just like their later Mini models.

On that note, it’s probably as good a time as any to say - I have secured a damaged IXO 6R4!

All the chatter the other day here about Metro’s reignited my desire to try making one!😆
A lot is going to depend on how the wings where the body kit bits are inside the shell. Obviously there’s that, and the bonnet needs completely reshaping, front bumper & grill, rear bumper & rear panels around the tailgate, axles will need narrowing, wheels of a more suitable type… probably more!

But it looks suitably challenging! Like that Dodge 50 I cobbled together. Probably worse in this case to be honest!

I’m hoping (but very doubtful!) the IXO 6R4 will be something similar. Failing that, I hope it’s cast thick enough to be able to dress the body kit back. I really hope the body kit section isn’t a hollow casting though.

Hopefully I’ll be able to get it soon and at least have a bit of a look & play around with it to see. I can’t actually do much with it for a while though.

Good thing is, if I start doing a conversion it’s almost certain that someone will announce a 1:43 model of one!

As mentioned above I've been bidding again, this time on a box of assorted tat and junk that I bid £50 (£64.98 with commission and on-line fees) on.

Those Days Gone are worth millions, plus a couple of old giffer Yesteryears. Some rough repainted and play worn Corgis and Dinkys.

DSCF5493.thumb.JPG.e524eb054aa6d72674c05877bfc4bfce.JPG

A boxed Joal Chapararl, a boxed Adams 4 Engine Corgi, more Corgis, more Dinkys, some Matchbox and a couple of Hotwheels.

DSCF5494.thumb.JPG.f72045c319bf6eedd779f089d1af1007.JPG

A purple black Pontiac, a chromatic green black Corgi Rockets XJ6, a couple of Huskeys, a WhizzWheels Beach Buggy and some more assorted tat.

DSCF5495.thumb.JPG.83abb26827545b798803b3aa0c0f30bf.JPG

Was it worth it. Well over the next few days I will be cleaning up what I can and looking at what's there. There's a couple I wanted, and some others that I thought made it worth while, but I will see.

Boxed Corgi dragster, awesome! Is that a Joal next to it too? Can see plenty of VW goodies in the mix, GP Buggy with surfboards is a good score but all old VW stuff sells easily - as will that red wheel centre Batmobile

Well I dragged a bit of low hanging fruit out of the box as it looked like it would look a lot better with a quick wash and brush up.

Not much og the hook left but at least there's still a, all be it split, tyre on the winch bit.

DSCF5517.thumb.JPG.aca363ab5dfa6fca25d2ec9038fb07b1.JPG

But the pivot/rivet that hold the winch must have broken as the spring inside is forcing the two halves apart.

Base is quite good and it does not look like it has been off roading carpetting. Two of the tyres need replacing for the MoT though.

Nice job cleaning those up so far.

That Pontiac is the rarer final version one. It’s a pity about the roof as the rest of it looks pretty good. Still well worth a bit more cleaning though.

I really do dread to think what all the gunk and grime is on some of these old ones!😆🤢
You certainly wouldn’t want to lick one of them put it that way!!

But what colour was it originally, metallic red, orange, pink...

NOOOOO. It was the had to find yellow Brroom Stick version.

More pale yellow on the back. I'll give this a go with the thinners, but judging by the scratch up finish beneath the marker work I don't think there is much original finish left.

Brroom Stick models were issued in 1972 for one year only, and the yellow Marzal was one of them.

I had a quick look at the Marzal and noticed that little Jimmy has spoiled another rarity.

Boxed Corgi dragster, awesome! Is that a Joal next to it too? Can see plenty of VW goodies in the mix, GP Buggy with surfboards is a good score but all old VW stuff sells easily - as will that red wheel centre Batmobile

The screens are cracked, the front suspension is knackered, a couple of the tyres are cracked and Robin has gone to look for the broken aerial. However the flames still go in and out of the exhaust, it feels like the rocket launcher still works and the chain cutter at the front still operates.

To be honest I don't remember them, and I was 8 at the time. I must have been too interested in my Corgi Rockets to notice them.

I had a marker penned Majorette Sierra which came up absolutely brilliantly using magic erasers... it too was pretty battered, sadly!
