I now use AK Crystal Magic glue, but until recently I fixed 'glass' with PVA. If it's a larger moulding that includes front and rear screens, perhaps the sides too, and there's a hollow at the underside of the roof then I prefer magic tape.

I’ll have a look for that AK stuff.
These 1:43’s can be a twat for glazing. Most of them have an individual window unit for every opening and aren’t like the older single piece glazing units so you need something that’s strong enough to hold them in but won’t ruin the plastic.

You can see it on this Sierra. Every side has a pair of pegs/rivets that hold one window section in place. Some are worse than this one!
It makes the windows quite weak unless the glue is good, obviously once you do all this to the model you can’t do what the factory did and use the rivets.

Fairly slim pickings in the ferry last night and in a Spanish shop

Found this fake Hot Wheels in the dodgy Basildon shop by the bus station

I’m going to get tyres fitted to my car at lunchtime not far from this shop. Would you like me to pop in and see if it’s still there?

Looks like a Dome-0 that was probably sold as a Zodiac or Midnight branded toy

Thanks

Cheers!
The paint I used on it is just a can of cheapo eBay metallic red motorcycle paint. I didn’t actually expect much of it but it goes on beautifully and the spray from the can is a perfect little fan pattern for stuff like this.

Ive been trying a new (to me) glue for the glazing too. I was using non blooming superglue but had mixed results with it. It’s not meant to leave that white residue behind but sometimes still does so I’ve been using Deluxe Materials Glue n’ glaze glue, which so far has been absolutely brilliant on clear plastic.

I use Humbrol Clear Fix for windows, light lenses and small chrome parts. I use cocktail stick to apply it were it is needed. It is not a strong glue so will not work on structural stuff. I also use it for reattaching the cellophane windows of diecast boxes and re-sticking boxes that have come apart.

It was gone… in fact, all of his Matchbox was sold.

No worries - I've had rather a busy morning in terms of diecasts! Where to start?

Let's have a look at some loose bits. Removed the VW and Passin' Gasser from the three pack

PXL_20240413_131047066.jpg.5245b139d499da0c89cf6f028393a335.jpgPXL_20240413_131002128.jpg.2c8ba179092734de0d9ee2219c4f42dd.jpg

A job lot of mostly hot rods arrived, in part as I couldn't work out what this was - it's a Johnny Lightning

I got some more Lone Stars too, Merc has definitely been doing some off roading in the mud going by the gunk I've clean off it

PXL_20240413_125437224.jpg.1e2aa901eddcc9073a0d78edbd28a87f.jpg

Zodiac in police guise with unlikely green interior. I really admire these, it's a real shame Lone Star weren't more successful. A range the size of Lesney's with all opening bits would have been phenomenal

Sadly, hee-haw diecast in New York. Even the tat souvenir shops don't have any recent replicas of service vehicles, they did when I was last here in 2003.

Nice Hot Wheels display in Macy's but it completely failed to deliver as there were no cars on sale at all.

Some Action Drivers sets, I thought @Datsuncog may like to see these.

20240411_162150.jpg.dd0df7500a1b4d12722431f937630677.jpg

I did try and get into FAO Schwartz, but there was some kind of kids character even on and I couldn't  be arsed waiting in yet another line (NY has A LOT of lines to wait in) so left.

However as the Toyota Camry is by far and away the most popular car here, I ordered a decent looking 1/32 version from ebay of the latest generation.

Hot Wheels do sometimes make a car which is not a product of imagination, but again the transport is not correct. The team consisted of two cars one for Gurney, usually the number 48, and the 42 car was driven by Swede Savage. What a pity the Hot Wheels researchers don't get things right.

The cars and drivers competed in the 1970 Trans-Am series.

I bought Krystal Klear which is a non-misting glue that will actual form windows if drawn across a small opening

Every time I use it I get the nagging feeling I bought a very small and expensive pot of PVA glue

I wonder if sometimes it's a deliberate alteration, so as not to be a true replica, just a nod to the past. But yes sometimes I wish they'd make things as accurate as possible, like the replacement of the "Ain't no Saint" name on the Volvo P1800 Gasser. They had full permission to recreate the real car so why change things?

Despite nearly a week in the stripper, the original green paint doesn't want to come off, particularly inside. But what a lovely casting, the Karmann Ghia can't be an easy shape to recreate but Dinky did a great job. Part of me wants to change this a bit from original, especially those white tyres. I'm not going to slam it over Fuchs but I'm tempted to go for black tyres and a nice period colour

Would be nice but I can't think of anything suitable to fit the original wheels. Looks pretty good on black o-rings and the axles put above the suspension for a mild drop

I already have a blue and a white Mustang II, not seen a Dinky Landy with a winch before and I have a white MIB Corgi Merc from childhood so a blue one is nice too

This is the Saab I was going to use the Aero wheels for

Any Saab experts on here? I've painted the Aero kit dark grey as they always look like that to me while the other plastic bits look black. Am I right about that or are they all the same colour irl? Hard to tell in photos and most are the later big bumper sloped front version 900 as well.
