Purple Superfast Pontiac is quite rare,1 year only,1970 afaik.

The missing engine on the Wild Cat Mustang can be replaced with one from the Gruesome Twosome,I tend to buy them just for that purpose.

I had all of the above except for the red van and the artic tractor unit between the years of 1969 and 1975. A good selection of first issue narrow wheel Superfast there. I set fire to the Fiat using petrol. The casting cracked into two pieces during the inferno. I had the MG 1100 in both the regular wheel green and Superfast blue. Also the Miura in both regular and superfast. My favourite was the 250 GT Lusso, it is still one of my all time favourite cars.

Was near Smyths today so wandered in and saw the Jay Leno's garage premium 4 pack was reduced,so got it mainly for this,The "Blaues Wunder" transporter.

Was disappointed to see that the bed is fixed and doesn't move, but I suppose it was fixed on the real thing too.

Still it's a nice model.

TEKNO TEKNO TEKNO

You may remember the angst at being Nemesis'd earlier this year on a Tekno Mercedes SL 'Pagoda'

Sleep was deprived.

Many months later, a job lot / parts bin bag was spotted.  Unfortunately the bidding was a bit strong (to almost a tenner..) in order to be able to play the identify-the-part game 😕 and tick the Tekno box

Some weeks later, there was a dual-build event, alongside revisiting the rogue part identification assessment.  You are welcome to join in at this stage

IMG_20231026_223557.thumb.jpg.42ec04d0ffe8822f0443ff15ee37f334.jpg

One example was sat alongside a collection of similar W113 Mercedes-Benz, for group shonk shots

Tekno and France Dinky showed they have opening boots and opening bonnets

IMG_20231026_225009.thumb.jpg.5ad39a6c7d57c61d69bcefd039dea202.jpg

And decent efforts on the 6-cylinder engines, to admire

IMG_20231026_224942.thumb.jpg.e39fb8b5b557c6e427bd7c5c55bbfd6f.jpg

All boot lids refused to stay up, but France Dinky at least tried to show-off, while Tekno parts car II got in the way to show-off its original paint

IMG_20231026_230435.thumb.jpg.39bd5ca3e80a734102f35721a5f2e280.jpg

Spot-on and New-Ray have nothing to open.  Cheapskates.

Out came a measuring stick and a spreadsheet was fired-up to see who scaled it worse

2023-10-26(1).png.68f9b6ccda6d3e795cd28be7f224cedf.png

Result: Tekno and New-Ray won the accuracy contest, while New-Ray got added bonus for at least not fibbing about its scale.

Helmut and Zigmund took their late-father's 280 SL out for a drive to celebrate

Oh course, I had to go and look it all up. It seems some were still made in red going into 1970, the final year of production.

To make matters worse, according to collector/expert Christian Falkensteiner, there were a few shades of purple!

dk. met. purple
med. met. purple

very lt. met. purple
lt. met. purple
brt. met. purple

Also it seems just the 3rd run (of 15 that year), when purple, it still had the headlamps and grille painted silver.  From then on, the rest are undecorated and have sealed doors - the one above is one of those, looking at the photo.  Gah!

While on the subject (and boring myself too) a pre-production Superfast colour was this yellow

Second box art red.

Third box art red at a different angle

3.jpg.9595733ab7838c1bc2614a9c1426d491.jpg

Final box art in purple, now a Superfast in red, still getting painted grille and lights and opening doors.  Retained Pontiac G.P. Sports Coupé on new base.

4.jpg.a7b6ac0d832fcebf0c84b13d15faaebe.jpg

A purple, last of the line(s), without decoration or opening doors. The cheapskates.  Nice colour though.

Never heard of again until the 2019 brand new casting homage, as part of the Moving Parts series, as '64 Pontiac Grand Prix I wish I'd bought one of those at the time

20190220_033722.webp

A 2020  recolour in red was made part of the Superfast 50 Years Anniversary series.  Doesn't it look smart

P8198088.jpg.b81db67ee71cf8104a4f86fab3eaf67d.jpg

The re-cast Premiums have also been blue, white and bronze.  Currently for 2023 as a Super Chase, an orange.  Not that we will ever see one of those this side of Connecticut

Got a few more pics of the Ford Country Squire wagon from the ‘large cars of Mexico’ collection.
Bloody nice looking rig! Wood effect sides look good too.

Cadillac Coupe DeVille from the same collection.
Grille on this one sits slightly too far forward, needs sitting back so it’s slightly behind the front lip of the hood. Might open it up and see about correcting that. Rear side window isn’t a great fit either so add that to the list if it’s in bits. Another nice looking model other than that though.
Im sure these cheaper ones from Europe are damaged or rejects though, this one’s got a weird blister in the paint on the other side next to the wheel spat. Looks like a big rust blister!

And one of my Spanish BMC LD vans is here! (I’ve got another coming for repainting purposes!). I love these. They just look so much like the LD van, it just needs a more British livery on it. For a shade over £10 these are great! shouldn’t be too hard to swap over to right hand drive either.

Also, I went on eBay and had a look for Bimbo bread and cakes… they make some very nice looking and sounding stuff! So far I’ve resisted the urge to order some!

That looks fantastic. What a wonderful big slab of Americana - I do like an estate/ station wagon.

I wonder how long I can resist going online...

BTW, Vitesse did a Morris LD150 van in RHD, under their 'City' range - they crop up quite often for £not that much.

I've seen various repaint candidates at the market around the £5 mark...

I would not you will be very disappointed.  Pan de leche has never seen any milk (leche) no butter used in cakes.  Bread that can have a used by date of weeks forward. Vile stuff.

I’ve never tried any of it tbh, never even heard of it until I found these vans. There was a packet of vanilla flavoured cake slice things in packets I saw on eBay that sounded nice… doesn’t sound like they’re any good though!

What scale are the Vitesse ones?

Posted

1/43. I have one from new, it's very nice. Same as this one:

Vitesse_Morris_LD150.jpg

Lledo produced a smaller version as part of their mid-90s Days Gone Vanguards range, but it was quite a bit smaller - somewhere about 1/55. They're very common, but not quite as good.

I also had this tiny railway scale LD150 by EKO, which was also a Sava version:

Shouldn't have sold it, it was a truly delightful wee thing.

They all look nice.
I’ve had a few of the Vanguards ones, they’re a bit smaller than I’d like though.

Ill keep an eye out for the Vitesse version.

The shame of it all.  I have some Lledo Days Gone in 'the collection'

I made an cheeky offer on a CA Van, it was accepted.  After arrival I fell into pit of despair.  The box has since been discarded, out of shame.  I'm going to have to repackage it a Lesney or summat if it goes into storage

It is smaller than the Morris LD!  Which is the only other Odell EnoG SyaD that is here.

IMG_20230202_105957_3.thumb.jpg.38b21d1073d1e15694ca03a0717bfe14.jpg

I thought it would be same scale :( as the Morris, which is 1:48, but the Bedford measures to approx 1:53.

IMG_20230202_105925_3.thumb.jpg.ce0a7cef00d99acc216b4a11f334d694.jpg

So had to fiddle with the perspective to get a photo together, which put the Morris out of focus.  Gits.

IMG_20230202_110031_2.thumb.jpg.6b4f45879bcb2068a724caecbf492644.jpg

Still nice though.  I think?  Help me, here.

From what I can find on the interwebs these are an American product.  The weight is in ounces before grams adds to my thinking.  Spanish products would not have ounces written any where. I have never seen them in Spain. Maybe they are better than the Spanish products.
