Shite in Miniature II

Been meaning to post this little Corgi Mini Mayfair I got the other day for £1. Looking it up it seems to be from a series of Minis they made to celebrate it's 30th anniversary.

Rather than restore it into the Mayfair it once was, I think I might turn it into a little version of a Mini my family had back in the 80s and 90s.

And there's one of the many rabbit holes of die cast collecting, variations.

I was sorting through some earlier and thought I couldn't possibly need three Whizzwheels police Range Rovers

Looks like they're all staying then...

Not exactly a small model but I had an Eddie Bauer Ford Expedition arrive today

In cracking condition as it doesn't look like it's ever been removed from the base

Very happy with it

Some interesting bits there -  what are the blue 928, Alpine and purple sports car - is that one a Corgi Cub?

Cheers

928 and Alpine are both Solido

Price wise I reckon £3.50 for the decent ones, and £0.50-£1.50 for the more shit ones. Reasonable?

So:

@Tenmil Socket - £4.50

@sierraman -£4.50

@155V6 - £5

 @bunglebus - £8

OK folks, I now have all of the above here and will post them/pass funds back to DoctorRetro for any sold.

Please let me know if you're still interested, I'd quite like the Quattro but Tenmil Socket was faster on the draw. I'll keep the Solido 928 and Renault Alpine plus the Corgi Cubs sports car, all the others are up for grabs.

Happy to take additional pics of any of them if required

I tend not to throw much away, partly due to hoarding tenancies but mostly because I like to have spares for restos and customs. Mind you I have chucked some fairly complete stuff in the bin lately as I'll never use parts off them. Always makes me feel guilty though

Spotted this Dinky MK2 Transit fairly close by - as it turns out, just around the corner to mother bungle's house, so pics shot on her drive

20220315_090737.thumb.jpg.f082ab2620a9fe833b90526a531f32ce.jpg20220315_113908.thumb.jpg.b2b83a78d02b7147769fe8aaa5b7aaf4.jpg20220315_113931.thumb.jpg.7d2685a1ac920f781b2924ae6b44b5a0.jpg

It's a little sun faded but lovely otherwise

Looks like a top buy, that Transit.

I'm guessing that a few decades on a shelf by a window has helped with the overall condition, even if it's left the paint faded.

Would something like T-Cut or any other sort of mild abrasive cleaner be any good at reviving the original colour?

Can't do the front without taking off the silver grille but I did my best with cloth and cotton buds.

Looks good in the cabinet with the others

I like them in that condition, you can see it’s been played with but it’s been cared for and enjoyed but likewise still displays well.

It is nice but when you look closely the quality isn't brilliant. Maybe I need to stop beating myself up trying to achieve perfection when customising them

These days it is now worth saving as spares are often easily* obtainable.

Silver one is from a Spanish part work by Altaya, blue one is a Brooklyn.

Postie brought something earlier...

IMG_20220315_140911.thumb.jpg.a86dd095b0b4a22bd9df4e468aab9075.jpg

Early indications were... alarming, though.

But thankfully, all inside was just fine.

IMG_20220315_141811.thumb.jpg.8356fd0147df75a7ae04e9ca0e091c7f.jpg

Yup, it's the latest from the lads and lasses at Corgi Model Club.

With a foldy-out box thing.

IMG_20220315_141802.thumb.jpg.c4e97ff405a83a50ccafc4acaf6cbc7b.jpg

Now, in all honesty I'm not that much of a fan of the E-Type 2+2, finding it a bit humpy compared to the sleek lines of the original fixed-head coupe.

IMG_20220315_141414.thumb.jpg.666899c2ba5acbd35570eaba0d4419ca.jpg

IMG_20220315_141425.thumb.jpg.a13b9fbdb1fb72f7d36a1267b3aa5ebf.jpg

But it is very nicely done, with 'opening everything' and a few nice touches like the detailed dash and spoked wheels.

IMG_20220315_141524.thumb.jpg.5178b40a92d3806dca7ea660ba18da66.jpg

IMG_20220315_141437.thumb.jpg.71e61ea16d810ad5479cda78d2dfdcab.jpg

The engine, although not quite up to modern standards, is a nice stab at the legendary V12.

IMG_20220315_141512.thumb.jpg.6be6c61ba62ed724cf6b4b3ea35840ad.jpg

Good survivors must be scarce, given the fragility of the wing mirrors and exhaust system.

IMG_20220315_141547.thumb.jpg.7cb5009e43f7c0c226f27b41be8443d4.jpg

So not maybe one I'm wild about - but very nice all the same.

WANTED

Has anyone got any Minichamps outer card sleeves laying about?

I've got 2 Pumas without them,and another one on the way20220315_190359.thumb.jpg.39d7e0c4d75a6dad65181cadbf2c7ccc.jpg

What I'm looking for is the black card outer like the one here20220315_190333.thumb.jpg.2fafa4972e7eda5b22ffd8eabf5dca8d.jpg

Or even a Ford branded one20220315_190346.thumb.jpg.04e9420d1b9dee53a2b3bf8b7eb6199d.jpg

They don't have to be from a Puma,or even a Ford,as long as they're the right size.

Let me know if you have anything.

Thanks

Me either, for the same reasons. The windows are too tall, looks like it's been "tooned".

The original has a track that's too narrow, but that's easily remedied with some phat rimz
