Excellent! Will do. I'll bet you'll be coming back with more tempting offerings though!

I vaguely remember having a play-set which included a drive through car wash which you could put water in?

Wasn't this one, was it?

507401903_MatchboxMotorCitycarwash.jpg.979905daf70f35c56d0ca5888021f8b5.jpg

I think it featured some sort of pump to squirt jets of water onto the cars coming through, before subjecting them to a 'spin dry' which, at full-scale, would likely have popped the unlucky drivers' eyeballs out with the G-force...

Yeah, y'know I really should drag out all my stuff earmarked for re-homing, and post it up here so everyone can have a digital rummage... though it probably won't stop me from lurking at the market stall.

Watch this space!

Cheers it's to mount a Cortina on like the super/speed kings one I did abit back.

I'm looking for a matchboxish size 100e as for years I've been trying to get one of each (pre 2000) UK ford in that & 1/43 scale & its one of the few I'm missing aswell as mk1Zcar in 1/43.

Got my box from our MK2_Craig this morning, excellent stuff.

Can't wait to pass the Polistil 740 and the smaller Majorette to our Cms206 tomorrow as I know he has been looking for these for ages.

I’ve got that. All the belts have perished now though so it doesn’t exactly work as intended.

Two from Home Bargains yesterday...

20190529_083513.thumb.jpg.767de11c0928fd2426e8443cbd2514ad.jpg

Purely opportunistic, and I'm not quite sure why I snaffled them - although the VW SP2 does look rather nice in metallic beige (dare I say, nicer than a real one does) and the S3 Landie is fairly well done too.

I know these things are churned out by the million and, because of opportunistic collectors, only ever 'valuable' where there's a local scarcity (see the Mk1 Escort mania from a few years back) - yet I'm oddly reluctant to pop the packaging and free these, Dunno why. I should just enjoy them for a bit.

HWs are great, it's like a little victory every time you find one you habe been looking for at a regular shop price.

I got those two a few weeks ago as well, nice pieces.

They only become scarce when greedy bastard buyers (note I have not called them collectors) take multiple examples of the same item to use in a trade, likely grossly biased in their favour and ripping someone else off.

So nothing wrong with grabbing one or two while you can. The HW Audi Sport Quattro is another one, I managed to get a couple,  one to open and another to keep in its packaging with the rest of the collection. I even felt a bit guilty for that.

Enjoy!

Ha! I bought that S3 earlier from Lidl (£1.45) and saw the VW too. The Land Rover is quite accurately detailed around the tailboard and grille,.

i know nothing about Hot Wheels and took a picture in case anybody wants any or if anything is "rerelease" .

Let me know and I can grab them when I collect my breakfast pastries on Saturday"

No sign of Market Blokey this morning.

His customary stall of diecast delights had been claimed by an adjacent tat-trader, and was instead covered in fishing rods.

20190531_100210.thumb.jpg.e476ca73f7bb97c4e518a52e8ddb1952.jpg

I did not miss my train due to an accident, take a lengthy detour, and get soaked in the pissing rain to look at fishing rods.

Presumably, Blokey's grown so vastly wealthy from all my 50p purchases that he's taken early retirement to his private island in the Gulf of Mexico, and I will never again have the opportunity to purchase further shonky-axled Rolamatics with cracked glazing from his old tomato boxes of tat.

That can be the only explanation.

It's actually slightly worrying that this Friday-morning browse has seemingly become the highlight of my week, and I'm now sitting here feeling genuinely quite bereft.

I may need to reconsider my priorities, rather.

I know things haven't been brilliant of late on quite a few fronts, but maybe this lays bare the extent to which I've been trying to fill a hole.

Hmm.

Perhaps I should start an unhelpful diecast-based amateur psychotherapy thread...

I feel bereft that the Diecast man hasn’t turned up. Maybe he’s lobbed the lot in a skip and I’m some twist of fate you’ll find them.

High point for for me during the week is looking through the boxes of tat on the Market on Monday so you are not alone there.

Posted

You're certainly not alone, on a Wednesday morning there's a boot sale literally on my way to work. That and this on a Friday morning are some of the highlights of my week..

Right, Flickr seems to be back again so I'll try not to bore you all shitless with the thousands of die casts I have - if you're really interested they're all here;

https://www.flickr.com/gp/bungle_bus/iDue73

My main interest these days is Hot Wheels, Matchbox when I can find them (almost impossible in the UK it seems). Luckily my work takes me into Germany a lot, where the availability of die cast cars is much better.  I also pick up older Corgi, Dinky, Matchbox, HW, Majorette etc etc if I see them at boot sales or on fleabay for sensible money.

I customise and restore them too, there are some great YouTube channels covering this if anyone's interested.

I'll stick up a few pics of my older, more interesting stuff.

Oh and I had the Roadbuilder track as a kid, loved it!

I have all of the original 16 Hot Wheels from 1968, all fairly play worn although I have since restored the grey Baracuda and found an original replacement too - seemingly the hardest one to find.

Fantastic. I remember those crash cars!

I got a couple of new models recently. Not exactly models of the usual stuff!

I’d never heard of SSM models before, and I don’t think they’re common in the U.K. so these came from Estonia and Poland. I got a pair of Soviet MAZ 537 heavy haul military tractors in 1/43. I love the real ones so couldn’t help myself!

They’re really nice models. Loads of details and well made too. I’ve got a ZIL 131 6x6 fire truck on order too, currently coming over from Moscow!

I might well be having a look at more of these!

Heh, I really loved those too - they were sold as 'Crack-Ups', round about 1985. There was a TV ad with an annoying jingle... it wasn't this one, but you can just imagine the lightbulb moment at the Mattel R&D meeting when someone twigged that kids love nothing more than smashing toy cars into each other...

I had the taxi, but lost it in a hedge, tragically. I picked up a Fire Chief version of the same casting recently, though. I also had a green 2-dr coupe thing (same as the one on the top row, centre) where the damage was on the rear panel.

1836898355_HotWheelsCrack-Ups.thumb.jpg.e7020bb64ee9d37e48bbce6a11dc9c89.jpg

Apparently over twenty models in the range at one point, plus various racing tracks and 'crash test' playsets...
