Vulva's are bonkers mate. I openly admit to driving a 240 DL in a very Non Volvo way....Wheelspin? Yes Please!

I often drive The Volvo like an XR3i, which surprises quite a lot of people

You know what, That Carousel is really nice. I don't mind them the Mk4 & 5's, My dad had a Y reg 1.6 Crusader when i was a kid and i loved the car (when i wasn't being sick in it!), the trouble is that i find them quite bland to look at but that one looks really nice in that colour scheme and spec.

The listing date is from 2 months ago so I highly expect to have been sold by now but it gives me food for though, I was also on the affordable classics site earlier, he's local but very expensive though.

I think Affordable Classics live in a fantasy land when it comes to prices tbh.

That Volvo is lovely. The 140s don't have a transaxle, they're a normal gearbox-propshaft-diff setup. I'd be seriously tempted by that, but then I do like Volvos. Would make a good winter classic though - should be reliable and Volvo heaters are usually pretty furnace-like, even on older cars.

The irony of that name always amuses me when perusing the classifieds :)

Sounds like you're wanting a bit of refinement, maybe it's worth trying something post-1981 that's still got a bit of rarity value. Such as a Montego. This one was owned by a MMOC club member and is a good 'un, it's the 2.0EFi so will be quick. Is probably too far away but you get the idea:

I've been in your situation before and have bought a car below my budget just so the gap is filled, and it gives you the next 6 months to decide what you REALLY want (by which time the show season is upon us again).

Affordable Classics have this. Which is pretty much my ultimate Cortina. Right colour, right spec, right everything.

£3695 does not seem unreasonable if it is anywhere near as nice as it looks. Although the front bumper looks like it's sitting a bit weird, but they bend easily.

Looking at it closer, no, £3695 is at least a grand over the odds. Nice though.

A 2.0 auto in Roman Bronze? Why?

Posted

The issue i have with Mk4-5 Cortina's is that i can remember only 10 years ago them being £500 bangers, even the minters were under £1000 and had little appeal to me, I remember the mechanic in the unit next to me having a Mk 4 with a cherry bomb, multi coloured panels, white wellers and a CB aerial, that always put me off them. (though looking back at it 12 years later he was living the autoshite dream - Aka The Onslow effect).

I'm emailed the seller of the Volvo after more details, I might have a look at the weekend, It's up for £3000 but he emailed me saying that If i collected it by Wednesday i can have it for £2500, This put me off somewhat, especially as he's been trying to sell it for a while now.

That 142 is the tits!

I'd love to have one as a classic rally car.

Something doesn't look right on the osf corner of that tina on the valance/wing join....Looks to me like some bodging, which would explain the shonky bumper.

Because I remember a chap who bought one brand new off my dad and I thought it was the mutt's nuts. Still do.

Can Trigger / Mike confirm if he has a new car yet? Just incase I missed it in another thread.

Not yet!, I was meant to go and few a 1976 ® Capri 3.0 V6 Ghia Auto in Bronze yesterday but I didn't have enough time to get to the seller house yesterday and he had some else who wanted to go and view it, and mostly it was a auto and needed welding to the floor, but it was only £1695 ono with 6 months mot.

This doesn't look bad for £2200, but there's a few points in the ebay advert put me off though, the fact it might have been yellow once and that bit of grot on the rear 1/4, According to my old man he reckons they are bags of shite  mostly because they have no sub frames so they rust badly and fail the mot worse like a Austin/Morris 1100, Is that right?.

You can guarantee nobody else in your road has one! Takes care of all your family duties too, and this won't be too big, no bigger than a Mk2 Granada, maybe less. It's certainly a level of luxury that the Kadett will have left you completely unprepared-for.

Hot Wheels used to have this in their range, under the name Aries, which is the equivalent Dodge.

Ex Danny Hopkins? If it's been owt to do with the Craptical Plastics mob.....

Yes, but If I recall correctly he spent a fortune having it resprayed and loads of other bits and pieces before taking it round France. It does look a genuinely nice one.
