A bit of Delprado 1/43 shizzle now, starting off with a Mk1 Crapi. I think this could be the Detail Cars casting

delpra10.jpg

A slab sided Pug 404. Not sure who's casting this is, but it does seem a bit pants compared to the Altaya version

delpra11.jpg

And finally..A Saab 900S, which bizarrely has a baseplate that makes the thing look rear wheel drive, complete with rear diff hump! Weird! I really like this though as it was a gift from my good mate Michael. He really is a decent bloke and fellow diecast fan. He has the Altaya Fiesta Mk2 as well which I really like, esp as I used to own a Mk2 Fezza

All in 1/43

Now some Cararama tat, starting off with an Austin Cambridge

carara10.jpg

And a Funky Ford Cortina...

carara11.jpg

Now their version of the Mk1 Capri, which has UK plates, but is a left hooker. Harrumph!

carara11.jpg

And finally a Scrote Mk1, badged up as a 1300 E, but with the wrong wheels & round headlamps. At least it is RHD!

More shite hath arrived via the bay of eeeeeeee's, the Altaya Transit Michelin van, which looks a bit small for 1/43. Its right hand drive, has UK plates, but left hooker wipers!..Photos to follow soon.

Posted

i had a car same as the cambridge, but mine had a steering whell on the roof to turn the wheels

Posted

Here is the Transit. It looks way out of scale compared to the rest, esp the Pug J vans, which I think may be a tad bigger than 1/43, say 1/36 scale...

That would be the Corgi one from the 60s, I have several. One (the one I've had from new) doesn't have the wheel on the roof any more, and is now grey, to match the Cambridge we had in 1975. 213 FUY was the second car I ever drove...

The fleet here including a Solido 403 van

Time to bump this up. The big fleet has shrunk, but 2 more 1/43 turned up from Digby's today finally after shitloads of hassle. They sent to my old home addy in Leeds (their fault), and some thieving bit of dirt signed for them in my name, so I give them their due, they saved the last 144 diorama they had, and awaited a second batch of the other model to arrive, before posting 1st class recorded. Superbly packed and still in the blister packs too. Now opened for photos...

First off, the Ovlov 144 from 'Le Route Bleue'

Now the uber brown Solara 1.6 LS

The Volvo is lovely :)

I have that Simca in Talbot guise too.

Been unpacking all my other cars today, I'll need to bosh up some pics.

WOW :D

Bit out my price range just now though.

I'll make do with my 1/43 Riva similar to the one pictured earlier in the thread. At least its authentic, being made in the Soviet Union 8)

I got the Solara in brown because it is exactly the same colour as a 1983 'A' reg Solara LS that my uncle owned. Also the model says Talbot on the bonnet, and Simca on the bootlid. The Ovlov has French plates but a Swedish sticker on the back.

Use the Macro mode on your camera if it has it (looks like a flower). It improves the quality of the shots no end :) Look forward to seeing them btw

More Mk5 Escortness from Germany

schaba10.jpg

Including Orions!

schaba11.jpg

The attention to detail is great, right down to the panel alignment on the Escort Cab, just like the original!

I could very easily get addicted to collecting diecast cars so I try to avoid buying them. I do seem to have picked up a job as a model builder and repairer for the local toy shop though which brings me to this Jag. While I was in the shop today a customer came in and asked if they knew anybody who could fix a model car, he only lived round the corner so I agreed to call round assuming it was something run of the mill.

The story went that he was involved in a classic car business in the late 80s that converted a mk2 jag into a convertible. A Japanese fellow bought it and shipped it home, several months later this arrived in the post, a gift from the happy customer.

The model was slightly damaged in a recent house move, I've rebuilt a wheel and I'll ask if he wants a couple of chips sorting out. I had a Hornby loco to fix as well tonight :)

The fleet has grown again, with 2 Ford Fiestas, and a Seat 124, plus a brown Cortina Ghia

I like the bermuda blue Fiesta.

I got the silver Cortina 2.0s version for Xmas, plus a 1:24 Routemaster bus

Also, its good to see Vanguards have reverted back to their original packaging instead of those horrible plastic display cases.

Some of my older unboxed shite now. Found a blue Marina Super (Vanguards), a Landcrab, and a couple of Solidos, plus a Vanguard Mk2 Tina...

Plus a bit of Euroshite now, AHC brand Alfa Romeo 33, with opening doobryfirkins and whatchamacallits, in 1/43..Colour is very dark green metallic (almost black), and a black Detail Cars Golf pram (with missing mirrors)

That Marina is a feckin' superb model in Teal Blue. I have it and it gets admired by visitors to the house. The paint quality is very good and the proportions and details are fine and accurate :)

Got the Cortina in Green too and the Landcrab in Wolsely flavour and its reg number '9 JPD' was being worn by a Merc ML Class that suddenly appeared right outside my work a few months ago!!

I'd recommend their MK3 Cortina in 'L' guise too. I'd put that up there with the Marina :D

I got this of my mother in law yesterday as a Christmas present, a 1:18 scale model of a Mk2 Escort 1.1 Popular Police car, number 775 of 999 models made, It even has a CB radio and opening doors, bonnet and boot!

^That needs new number plates making: KHK 472N, as often seen in The Sweeney! :D

Posted

Those Escorts are the expensive side of £40 as well. I believe it is an offshoot of Sunstar, as they seem to do the 'same' castings. I've seen the Escort Mk3 in Essex plod guise too. Nice model Trigger.

Posted

When funds allow, I'm going to make a model car lot diorama in 1/43, which will be filled with my 70s & 80s chod. The Mk2 Escort is on my shopping list from Vanguards too, along with a Granada mk2 and an affordable Mk3 tina. I may get a plod one, and de plodificate it. Nail varnish remover is good for removing printing from models by the way.

Posted

The wheels on that escort panda car are spot on! My sun star version has those steel 'sports' wheels you see fitted to lots of fords from that era but I prefer the basic trims.

I take it anyone can add to this thread? Might josh up a few pics of my own.

Posted

Of course you can Ian! Bosh up as many photos as you want, just remember to use the macro mode if possible on your camera. Gives much improved shots :)

OK here is a breif synopsis of my collection. Sorry about the pictures, I am useless at using the camera on my phone. The shitty energy-saving lightbulbs in the house make the place as bright as a blackout as well!

As we have recently moved house, only about a third of my collection is unpacked! Some are in the boxes pictured, the rest is in the loft!

Unpacked:

Not Unpacked:

IMAG0127.jpg

There lies within there my inherited collection of Dinky and Corgi stuff from the 50's and 60's, about two thirds of which are boxed!

However, these boxed beauties are more my thing:

Pug 605 from E-bay. Still smels of cigarettes despite intensive cleaning. Proper minicab realism there.

I love this model. The seller asked me to assure him I would look after it as his dad bought it for him who recently passed away.

IMAG0132.jpg

Tenner each at a swapmeet - I thought I was dreaming!!

IMAG0133.jpg

IMAG0134.jpg

A couple of 'headline' 1:18'ers

IMAG0128.jpg

Some lorryshit:

IMAG0131.jpg

I made these when I was a teenager:

IMAG0129.jpg

Bus shite collection:

IMAG0136.jpg

My friend gave me this when he was clearing out his old room before moving out of his parents' house, on the condition I would restore it from its fucked National Express livery:

As he is a fellow bus enshusiast, I thought I would recreate a local Linlithgow bus, Lw333 that I regularly got to work:

IMAG0137.jpg

Its in the final local livery before that bloody Barbie 2 started to be applied.

Finally for now, here are a couple of Stahlberg models. This is when dealer-only models were exciting. Now they only offer the same Minichamps stuff that you can get from most model shops or E-bay.

IMAG0135.jpg

I will post more if I find anything else I think might be interesting.

I had a Stahlberg Volvo 345GL in that same blue that I sold a couple of years back for £40! It started at a fiver on the bay of e's, and bidding went a bit silly.

Posted

Yeah they fetch strong money in good condition. The Saabs are even more valuable.

I purchased these 2 when I had moved back with my folks some years ago. No way could I afford to do that now.

Posted

I had one of those Volvo 240s but mine was maroon. It got played with a lot, badly painted several times and bits fell off so I guess it was eventually thrown away. Shame really.

Posted

The Saabs seem to suffer from the plastic degrading and splitting too. Seen a few like that on ebay.
