I'm a collector of weird & oddball diecast models and have some real gems in my collection, such as a Talbot Horizon police car, Seat Malaga, Seat Ibiza, Talbot Samba cabrio & many other piles of crap. If anyone is interested, I will shove up some photos.

OK, you asked for it! Danger Will Robinson, severe tat alert.....altaya11.jpg

And there is plenty more tat where they came from, such as this.......kaden_10.jpg, and this....

I bought it at York toyfair last year, and not seen one since. It is made by a firm called Altaya. It was a left hand drive French BMC service van, but I took the model apart, swapped over the steering column, gear stick and handbrake & made period UK plates. It is a cracking model.

Aha, thanks. I have the odd Altaya knocking about, they make a lot of the models you get in partwork magazines. Maybe I should upstage you with some photos of my collection...

Go for it. I have a fair few diecast models including a 1/43 scale Lada Riva SL with all 4 opening doors, boot, and bonnet! Need to photo it though.

altaya13.jpg Here is one of my other Altayas. I also have a Renault 9 somewhere, and a Seat Furo Crono (Fiat 127)

1/43 scale Lada Riva

I've been chasing those for years!!!!!! Oh I'm so jealous now...

(Ex-owner of two Rivas and several 124-shape Ladas, not to mention FSOs... and no models of any of them, darn it!)

Here's the Riva. Made in the USSR in the 80s. Crude, but I like it, and it comes to bits easily so could be re-sprayed if I wanted

Hmm must get a better photo of my Seat 124 police car then...You seen the 1/18 scale Lada 1200's on e-bay?

Posted

Here's the Renault 9. Will dig out the Horizon and Seat 124 Police cars tomorrow & photo them with a suitable backdrop :P

I hadn't seen those Ladas, but I just looked now. Bloody hell, those are the prices I used to pay for the full-size original!

Meanwhile, have some random selections...

A tiny hint at my collection...

What happened to our own Mr Lobster? He had 1,000s of die-cast models for sale and even had his own website. lobstertube.com I think. :?

My collection is now quite small (only live in a 1 bed flat), but years ago I had a shop selling diecast 'OOOP NORF'. Most of my models are packed away with no room to display. SWMBO also collects model buses.

I sadly sold loads of my 1/43 scale Schabak Fords, but still have the odd one knocking about. I really regret selling the Escort Mk5 estate model.

^And mine in 1989.

With the first one looking so much like the photo on the box, I couldn't resist!

Here's a couple from my top shelf!

They look very much like Altayas too. Nice. I am watching the purse strings atm since losing my job due to health grounds, but once back in work, I will be hitting the toy fairs & ebay again.

I think the R4 is an Altaya, our local swag/surplus shop had a load of them in some time back. Barkas is a Solido and cost almost as much as my poor full size example is probably worth at the moment!

He eloped elsewhere as he got tired with the way the forum was heading, anyway this is my poor collection, I want to collect more really but i always end up looking at one, really fancying it and then thinking it's too expensive and that I'll get it another day...

Another Altaya, this time a Pegueot J van (Talbot Express, Ducato etc)altaya13.jpg

I have that 1/24 Simca, along with a Beetle, Innocenti Mini 1275, and Veedub Golf GTi . Diecast's are expensive. I also have a few Corgi vanguards, but at nigh on £17 on average, its getting pricey for what they are. However the Mk1 Fiesta they just brought out may be tempting, and next year sees the Mk2 Escort joining the range.

Never heard of Altaya, but their models seem good. The Barkas van (if that is one) is truly delightful. Very well captured.

Try this place peeps:

http://digbysmodels.co.uk/

Loads of quality tat, some at knock-down prices. I've just ordered a load of 1:43 Talbots from there, including a Tagora and an 1100 van in a dealership livery.

Mr. Lobster seems to have more stock, mind. Digby's is more of a lucky dip sort of shopping experience.

I've just had a look round digby's; thanks for the link. Didn't spot any of those "knock-down prices" though, perhaps they were on stuff I wasn't looking at, like 1/76 or buses. The stuff I wanted, like the police Polonez, was way over budget. :(

I haven't seen the van but saw the Talbots and Simca Horizon

The special offers are a bit random - sometimes loads of 1:43s, sometimes almost none. The eastern European stuff seems strangely expensive as well. For fans of French tat though, this place seems like heaven. They must have every type of HA van ever made (or not far off it).

Apologies Felly Magic - I think I might have bought the last Talbot/Simca 1100 van. That's probably why you can't find it. As a (small) consolation I'll try and remember to post a piccie in this thread when it arrives.

I was about to comment on that, with regard to the Oxford Diecast HA, available in British Rail yellow and Cheshire Police blue, both of which I badly want but can't justify at ebay prices; then I remembered what I'd seen on my trawl round digby's. You mean, of course, the Citroen H. D'oh!
