I'm sorry, but the idea of letting some complete stranger drive either of our cars seems mad.

The 500 doesn't get thrashed, drive up kerbs, all of its wheels are perfect, no parking dings. Basically it's pretty perfect other than the usual stonechips and so on.

Putting a turbocharged Subaru up for rent for a few quid a day is only going to end in tears as well......

I know no one is forcing me to put our cars up there for rental, but am I the only one who finds the idea of letting some complete stranger drive off in your car a bit bonkers? If I was absolutely skint and it was the difference between me keeping up the payments on the day then maybe I'd consider it but you can guarantee that there'll be someone who rents the car who just doesn't treat it with the same respect any of us on here would treat someone's car with :?

That said, if you owned something really cheap and easily replaced and it was sitting on the drive gathering dust then I suppose it could be a source of income.

Let's ruin it by over loading the database with phantom Sao Penzas and KIA Rocstas

I hope Boobydoo signs up for this.

To be honest, I have long thought that something like this would be sensible. I certainly wouldn't sign up with the 2CV, but if I had the Saab, I might do. Might even consider it with the Rover.

According to the site someone close to me has a Range Rover Snort that they're willing to rent out for £40 a day!

I wouldn't loan them my pushbike and it's been rusting away the last ten years.

I can see this being a good source of swappable parts. 8)

Good idea in principle, but personally I don't like the idea of someone else using any of my fleet. It's bad enough when the missus takes the car away for the weekend, "careful where you park it" says I over and over again :)

Got a Kia Rio 2 for rent near me, so tempting!

I've found a Smart Roadster in Glasgow. Other than that, I don't fancy anything in Scotland.

Few do. That's why property prices are so cheap there. :P

(NOTE - piss taking may not reflect actual views of Scotland).

This is the nearest car to me, and all for a mere £18 per day :)

I wouldn't want to rent my car out, all they would have to do is get a copy of the key made and they be back one evening to nick it of your drive way, many of them list there postcode for collection as well.

I think you'd have to be pretty thick in fact to want to rent out your car.

Or as my wife just stated, they might rent it out to go dogging in and spunk all over the seats!...

Call me over-protective, but there's no way I'd let any of my cars into a scheme like this. Guaranteed to end in tears.

I wouldn't mind hiring a Renault 25 or Citroen CX for a day, just to bring back old memories of the wonderful dashboards without the hassles if they go wrong. :)

I'd also like to hire a mental Citroen.

Let me know if you find one.

I think they 've got an age limit of 8-9 years, so unfortunately we're out of luck!

I'd love an autoshite version of this.

I've got a trip to Norfolk next week so I log on and Craig the Princess has a Rover 200 to hire, cool! But by the time I get there it's sold, broken down, fragged or Hiab-ed so you end up with an LDV400 or a Metro or something mad.
