That's driving me mad! I know I've seen one on this site before. Deffo Japanese, Isuzu or Suzuki?

Posted

Yep, Mk2 Corolla, that one Kinker posted is 3rd generation.

There are still loads in Chiang Mai doing fine service. (Click my sig for more.)

Bloody hell, it's like shooting fish in a barrel!

Are you posting these up as you come across them? (as it were)

More pedantry from me - your 'Moskvitch' pickup/box van and combi are in fact IZHs.

However, you found an FSO with a Fiat badge so all is forgiven. 8)

Also, the green ZAZ appears to be sporting Wartburg 1300 rear lights. :?

From my understanding of Chinese and former Soviet memory blocs...i also do not recognize anything from the above..the party is always first.. :D

Isuzu Gemini by Tayne, on Flickr

Ooh, thanks Tayne! Quite a learning curve, this thread!

The Oz ones have a different styling treatment around the lights - Seat Malaga at the front; back like a Hyundai Excell, whereas your Ukranian one looks decidedly Japanese.

That light blue "patinated" Gaz 23 is an absolute honey. Perfect. Bring it home please.

Nice, a V8 Rover 75 is top of my bucket list.

I checked out a couple of combinations of the plate, there is an '03 plated one that is on a SORN and is a 2.5. This one is an '05 4.6 V8.

French shite taken a quantum leap forward in out-froggery-shiteness.    Which suggests another thread -  vehicles that have been needs-mustly updated to buggery-shiteness.  Like Skodas used  to be, or Morris Itals.

Just been having a trawl through your thread and had a major blast from the past! The Birkie Beast was built for my dad by his mate Jimmy Reid of Birkhill what must be 30 years ago. Deutz 4litre diesel powering 8 hydraulic motors. Controlled with two little levers and a steering wheel. Great to see it again.

Mais non, I just noticed the 'par Tayne' under the photos here ;-)

There's 10 points for anyone who can name this car.

Too easy : Daewoo Racer !

Posted

Both of these are based on old renaults, not sure which is older...

Both Dacias.

Red 1310 based on 1969 Renault 12; blue Nova alleged to be a development of either the Renault 11 or Peugeot 309 (!) ......

I'll post your points in the morning.

I took the picture as I'd never seen that logo before and the car didn't have any name badges. Do you think it was made in Romania?

First class stamp, please

IIRC Daewoos were indeed made in Romania, in the old Oltcit factory. But I think production started after the Racer was replaced by the marvellous* Nexia. So I reckon the car in the picture was a quality* South Korean product.

Interestingly*, that old Daewoo logo looks like a rip-off version of the Pontiac logo, and the Racer was sold as the 'Pontiac LeMans' (oh, the blasphemy !) in Septic-land.

Some really great spots Tayne, some of the eastern European shite is amazing. This Audi is interesting, don't think I've seen a 2 door of this generation before...

How common are those Alekos outside Russia? I am surprised not to see them imported over here.

I expect Nigel Bickle might have one and Sam Glover almost certainly has (i cant remember from when i was dpwn there).

Blimey...that is bloody lovely.   An Uncle of mine had one and although he narrowly missed out on a VC during WW2 he was forever a hero to me just for buying one of these....

Ha, I've just printed the 2300 road test Trigger posted on Flickr! Gorgeous berlina.
