Re. the Minor, I've often wondered if one would work done in a 'volksrod' style... :?

Is that Anglia covered in suede? :shock:8)

I suspect that will be Velvetex, which should send you all rushing for 1973 copies of Hot Car! IIRC it was a type of nylon flock, fired at either some form of sticky coating on the bodywork, or some kind of electric charge. It's at least 35 years since I've read anything about it though, so excuse the possibly-hazy memory...

I did my best to join in on this thread.

I was getting back into my van at the supermarket yesterday when a matt black with flames

Herald drove past.

I know, a Herald.

Jumped into the van & set off after it

Trawling along, spotted it at the last minute in a 'Road Closed' thing

I was obliged to continue along a couple of hundred yards,

around the roundabout & back

bugger me,

if it hadn't nipped through a locked gate & a 'road closed' sign

She had keys

she must be dealing with horses

I will lurk & bring you a photograph of this device,

although I'm not convinced that it's nice.

Difficult, I acknowledge, but... looking beyond the suede flock, the forest arches and the Zodiac rear lights, why is that Anglebox on a J-plate? Import..? :?

Yay, I remember Celestial! Wasn't it at the Lakeland Motor Museum at Holker Hall for several years?

Il Deevla suggest this had the mighty 2.3 and has been dead to the world since '89.

Not exactly a custom car, but wanky enough to be included, I think:

:shock::shock::shock:

Hopefully, it will be scrapped before it's finished.

It was indeed at Holker, but hasn't made the trip to the new museum at Backbarrow.

Plenty of excellent old shite has though ....

Backbarrow, eh? If I ever get over to see the house I own in Barrow then that has to be part of the trip, I reckon... :D

there was a bedford cf van in the village where i used to live with a rover v8. a mate of mine sprayed it, it won loads of custom shows and was for sale on e-bay about 6 years ago. think it was called "evergreen"

From Classic Ford Magazine. Not quite the full on '70s custom job - but still, spiders' web seats FTW.

Isn't that a copy of a film car?

@155V6, is that Rushmoor Arena, and more specifically, a Wheels Day from a few years back? Probably one of the best events for Custom cars now, although the level of wankness is minimal these days it seems. But has anyone got a photo of the Yellow 'Submarine' Transit from last year? That was pretty unique....

A genuine commissioning.

Leyland Motors asked Custom Car Magazine to do their worst. Is it wanky or is it nice?

Century Oils (who?) sorted this one out as an advertisment.

Another one from 1979. It was a good year.

That Custom Cars Prinny is a pretty awful, half-arsed attempt. Not really keen on the second one either, but at least some effort was put into it!
