MrRegieRitmo Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Early Isuzu Troopers, any Nissan Patrol, MkI Range Rover, Fiat Tempra, early MkV Escorts, BMW E32, E38, early A6, early A8, Sintra, early Sedona, Corrado, Fiat Marea saloon, Fiat Brava, MkII Audi Coupe, Citroen XM, BX....
retro80sboy Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 surely the 'poster boy' for this thread? -
CreepingJesus Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 F-plate Renault 5The thing with this one is, it's a lefty, with a little French tricoleur sticker in the back window. It's also 'GTR' spec, which I'm pretty sure we didn't get. So it must be an import, then!G-plate Audi 80Very tidy, this one. There's a J-plate Nissan Patrol, a D-plate Mk2 Ashtray and a G-plate Sierra 2000E locally, that I've been trying to get. No luck so far, but I shall prevail! Eventually...
In The Pit Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Saw one of these today! The 'not seen one of them for ages' buzzer went off. Surely never... is that a 340 Redline?! My mate had one (F199 EGE) to replace his Proton Persona after it shat all it's seals. Quite a good car until the front end collapsed. They also did a Blueline a friends dad had one in the 90's I remember her telling me they also did one called the Redline.
In The Pit Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 1994 Ford Escort 1.8 Ghia Si Saloon. by bramm77, on FlickrHere's another car which is dwindling in numbers, but that has got me thinking, I can't remember the last time I saw an Orion badged MKV Escort Saloon. Again, these things were easy targets for the scrappage scheme, so it's no surprise really. Anyone fancy one of these theres a no reserve one on ebay with 12 months test, 11 months tax and 34,000 on the clock its an Escort Masquerade http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3D1&_rdc=1 As for rare 90's stuff can I nominate the Mitsubishi Galant and Lancer, VW Vento and Honda Accord (not common in the first place I know and to be fair the roads could be packed full of 90's Hondas but would we wouldnt notice them)

I had a K reg in silver, mine was slightly more special as it was the 130ps model (same lump as the rs1800i fiestas), so it rang rings around XR2i's and XR3i's with the normal 105ps lumps! I miss it, rear wiper (on a saloon) and a cd player and a cassette player! Took ages to find it, only had 61k on the clock when i bought it in 2004 with a full ford history, moved it on in 2006. Nicer inside than my BMW!
cms206 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Apologies if we've had these... Purely because I was sitting behind one in traffic today and hadn't seen one for ages: And also these...
chaseracer Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Apologies if we've had these... Purely because I was sitting behind one in traffic today and hadn't seen one for ages: Me too! In the centre of Brum, this afternoon - a US import, by the shape of the plates. It sounded pleasantly burbly - do these things run a V6?
r.welfare Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Later generations probably do (still sold in the US and Japan), the ones sold through Honda dealers here (1994 to 1998 or so) all had either the 2.2 or 2.3 four-pot and (I think) a standard autobox with a column shift.
Madman Of The People Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Apologies if we've had these... Purely because I was sitting behind one in traffic today and hadn't seen one for ages: Very nice. Here's mine..... Me too! In the centre of Brum, this afternoon - a US import, by the shape of the plates. It sounded pleasantly burbly - do these things run a V6? Supposedly a 2.7 litre V6 was available in Japan but this was never exported to the USA or Europe. Mine is a 1997 model with the 2.2 litre engine. By 1999, Japanese and American Odysseys diverged, with the American one becomming a much bigger vehicle with a V6 engine, aimed directly at the Chrysler Town and Country (Voyager to you). Fun Fact: the MK I Honda Odyssey/Shuttle was also sold in America as the Isuzu Oasis!
tonedepear Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I keep seeing Kia Mentors rattling about this week. And every time I think "fuck me, a Mentor". But I've seen at least 5, so either there's a gathering (!), or just a really weird coincidence. Flat front (mk1) SAAB 9000s seem to be thin on the ground suddenly.
pandaselecta Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Being a panda owner i was going to say that you rarely see original pandas around, but having said this, you then realise that cinquecentos are getting thin on the ground too
Guest Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I saw a two tone K reg 480 ES going down the Princess Road yesterday. His arches were worse than mine. I nearly crashed.
sprig Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Until recently there were loads of these really shite Protons being driven about by old people. Not now... Funny you should say that as my gran drove a white 1 of these until about a year or so ago, I recall her cleaning it one summer & giving the whole car a once over with brasso! She now drives a nissan sunny, again in white, maybe that'll be treated to a going over with brasso once the weather picks up?
