Shite on a farm

Shite, I've owned plenty of it over the years. I wish I still had most of it, but then don't we all....

I'm going to be 40 this year, so pretty much every old banger I owned 20 years ago is now cool to own again. I've got a soft spot for 80's Rovers,Vauxhalls, Peugeots and Renaults. Chuck in a Lada Riva or a Skoda Estelle and I'll probably be in shite heaven.

If funds ever allow, I'd like to own a farm one day. Somewhere I can fill the fields full with shite I might never get around to fixing or, I'm just not ready to send over the bridge yet.

Last winter I got interested in trying a bit of photography and, I fancied trying out some urbexing. I knew loads of places 20 years ago that would make suitable subjects. But 15 to 20 years is a long time, and most of the sites I knew aboout I ether can't find on google earth or they are now long gone.

Then I remembered about a farm I knew about down a quiet country lane around 1997, it was full of shite back then...... I wonder if it's still like that now.

This picture stolen from google gave me the answer, and best of all for me, it had streetview!

I spent several nights looking at the streetview images, it was now on my to do list sometime when the weather was a bit warmer. I went to photograph some old abandoned dodgems I knew about a few months later, on my way home I thought I would take a quick look at the old farm.

I need to go back again sometime now I've got a better camera, but until I do I've got a few pics of the old place. I hope you don't mind if I share some of them.

I'll start with the front garden.

And now lets take a look at the family camper.

Like me, I think this farmer has a soft spot for 80's Rover shite.

With the family sat waiting in the car, I didn't venture further than looking over the wall. Here's a few more from the set.

I haven't had chance to go back since to get a closer look at some of the shite on offer, but if anyone spots anything of interest for next time I visit.....

Until then, the full set is on flickr.

Shitting nora!

Despite most of it being rusted to fuck, there's still some gold in them there hills.

That camper (Bedford KB?) is special.

Meets Tony Martin! Be careful!

The price of scrap metal these days that farmer is a millionaire

OMG why would someone have all this scapmetal on his land? That´s not cars for spares, that´s just horrible looking junk!

Horrible? It's fantastic, I'd love to own that place and all the shit around it. I did wonder if the Montegos were dizzlers raped for their engines but the Countryman one seems to have pezzer badges on it.

The pikeys would have a fucking field day (arf arf) with all that shit and at least one of the trucks (the D Series Ford) appears to have a Hiab of some sorts still attached.

I think it looks great! I love stuff like this! Really great find, some amazing stuff in there.

Sorry for the Len-baiting pic repost, but what is the brown 5-door in this pic? Early Passat?

I wonder if his house is a bit 'Edmund Trebus'. Is the farm still active?

It's hard to pick out the details of the red hatchback next to the Series LR in spite of seeing it twice, etc. but the rear quarter lights look right.

Ah, so that is where all those Montegos ended up over the last decade!

What about the rotten upside-down remains in the foreground, with the registration number ending 664H?

 That is just amazing, farmer seems to have penchant for Montegos. Some seriously collectible items there.

I notice you got quite close up to the house, how did you know no one was occupying the house?

Mk1 Escort?

Either that or a very early Capri, going by the tail lights. And the reddish-brown 5-door (the one that isn't a Maestro) does look like a Pisshat.

Excellent pictures, thank you for sharing.

I'd love to go for a look around a place like that, although I would probably be shot or something.

I'm liking the D-Series Fords and Montegos.

There is a farm like that I can see from the top of a hill behind my parent's house but its far away from any side roads. The only way of getting there would be to tramp across a field or up the path to the very shite house. Again, though, alas, I would be shot.

I agree, looks Escort.

The red hatch further up the pic looks to be a Maestro?

We could take the place over and open it to the public.

OMG what an idea! If I had kids they'd so be going there.

It looks to be a working farm.

DSCI0609.jpg

The farmer was busy up in the top field. With so much shite blocking his view, it was very tempting to go for a wonder over the wall for a closer look.

Sadly most of it is beyond saving now, but I remember a couple of the montegos in working order. I'd love to know the story behind the place, but I've heard that visitors aren't very welcome.

I know someone on flickr that has a superb set of close ups, I'll ask him if he fancies posting some up.

the best bit in that yard is the lorry diagonally left facing the tree, could be an aec matador, worth £1200-£1800 in its derelict state nowadays

Great find! Looks like the aftermath of a weird experiment.

It seems there's still a fair few places like this scattered about. I know of one not too far from me that's got a fair bit of shite, although it's mostly farm machinery.

That truck isn't a Matador, in fact I'm not sure it's even an AEC. I reckon its an Albion...... Maybe. Worth a shitload more than the equivalent AEC, especially if there's a Gardner in there somewhere.

...... or possibly a Seddon, everything looks right for one as far as I can see. Whatever it is it would look great just restored mechanically and otherwise left as it is 8) There are too many over-restored trucks about, we need some truck-shite to make things look really authentic at steam fairs and road runs. :)

In any case a great set of pics, and I too would like to know the story behind.

Here's one from 1951..... Perfect nick, too. might cost a tad to repatriate though.

Also, is that an ergomatic cab in green, with the grey box body, in a direct straight back direction from the alleged Seddon? Centre/right of pic.

Hey that's ace, cheers for the share. Some interesting stuff there inc. the Mk2 Granada on TRX alloys. Oh, is this an early Sierra next to the Merc van which obviously wasn't GR8 4 EXPORT?

*Edit: it is a Sierra, there's a better picture elsewhere on the link.
