Fascinating Mk1 Capri fact, number 762. When the 3-litre was introduced in 1970 it was the only Capri version at the time to have the power bulge bonnet, and you could have a bonnet with a factory fitted opening /removable flap bit, like an American muscle car. Very rare and discontinued 1971. This Capri pic was on ebay last week. Look, removable thing ↓ ↓ ↓

This bloke went a bit further and made a see through 3-litre bonnet so he could check his 1600GT was still running without opening the bonnet.

(Writes down

- 'cake the whole underside in black stuff, and cover up all the existing rust. It's rotten as a pear, don't offer any part-exchange deal. A bloke with hat will be back for it after 5.30').

Haven't they finished that yet? Was in progress when I was there in early March.

83-86 Ford US LTD. Definitely nothing like a GM Senator. Any resemblance was purely co-incidental. Some had the 2.3 Pinto 'Lima' four, all had auto trans. Top spec was a 165bhp 5-litre but a 3.3 'Thriftpower' six was available too. The name Thriftpower sets alarm bells ringing in my head.

Urban roadtests achieved 16.5mpg from the 2.3 litre four.

Built on the same "Fox" platform as the contemporary Mustang.
