My bladder sensed Wetherby services, so another wee break. I'll be reet.

I can usually do big distances without issue. The borders to Bristol was a very regular one... But my body can just sense when I'm near Wetherby Services. It doesn't matter if I empty everything before leaving, it doesn't matter how much I eat or drink, it doesn't matter how long I've been driving. I get near Wetherby and it goes 'right, time for a piss...'

Theory further proven by the fact that it doesn't happen when driving to other places. Did Thropton to Gateshead to the Hebrides then back to Thropton in one day a few months back and only had a piss on the ferry.

You just have to pick your travel times...

After nearly 20 years, my bladder has been trained/trained itself such that it makes itself known about 5 miles before Wetherby services, irrespective of direction of travel, time of day or even time since it last got drained 😅

Wetherby bladder strikes again!

Drained, stretched, back onto the big road north...

so how does that work? those blue and golden rods/sticks for the foot pedals, does anything clamp them in place? do they just flop about?, do you just push on them with your palm or such?

I was picturing more something like this, that bolts to the steering column and had collapsable/adjustable linkages that would attach the half moon leaver to the throttle/brake pedals

I'm guessing you clasp your fingers around the brake and put your thumb on the throttle?

Bloody decent looking car that. Well bought I'd say.

Those controls look a bit perplexing to me but I'm sure you'd soon get used to it.

Cruise I'm guessing works be a great help. I barely use the pedals when on an a road/motorway.

This. There's a velcro strap you can put around the steering column if you want. You can also remove the accelerator rod and just have it on the brakes. My mobility issues are primarily difficulty in rotating my right foot to the left to use the brake pedal, but it's very dependent on seating position; I could use all three pedals in the Vectra or most things with a more upright seat. Vans are fine.

Anyway, home after a detour to see a mackem friend. All good, just over half a tank used sat at a decent* speed almost all the way back. It could do with a higher profile tyre - an indicated 80 is 73/4 on the GPS. I'll check what's on it tomorrow and compare to the manual.

That unit is about 210cm tall and fitted with the front seat scooted forwards.

Actual TARDIS of a car.

Been a nice little adventure yesterday, even better when you find out that the Reaction Faction have managed 12+ pages of obsession about me going to get a car 🤣

38mpg as well. Not bad given the average speed.

What's that... 45mpg diesel equivalent or something?

A handful of members/former members of here who have flounced off to another forum. They love reacting to posts rather than adding content.

They deny that they have an obsession with me but they catalogue screenshots about me, my family members' Facebook posts etc. Their lives are so empty that they spent yesterday dissecting this thread, my education, my tattoos, imagined benefit fraud (they've previously contacted the DWP in a failed attempt at having my PIP stopped, they also contacted my former employer before I took ill) and so on... Over a dozen pages all about me, just because I got on some trains and drove a car.

One person let me know about it, and two others confirmed it when I asked them.

They aren't obsessed though. Definitely not obsessed. All completely rational and happy middle-aged men. Not obsessed.

Excellent purchase, should prove very handy for you.

I've had a Vectra b estate before and several C's but they were hatchbacks, which tbh weren't shabby in the storage department.

My 07 C hatchback cleared my Dad's house in tip runs, snapped two rear springs in the process but were about £60 for the pair and took 15 mins per side.

*Heater working only on number 4 will be heater resistor card, passenger footwell near centre console, under glovebox area.

**Check and clear scuttle drains as water fills and pours into the blower motor

Really? I'm not across everything but think a broad spread and have no idea of you being pilloried thus. Sorry to hear it.

Divorced springs and shocks are great for accessibility.

Thanks for the heads up about the heater resistor. Watched a video and it's definitely one that I'll need to get fitha_oui_si to do - my crippled shrimp fists won't manage it 😅

This also needs done so I'll get him to do it at the same time:

There's a Vauxhall dealer over in Berwick, parts shouldn't be too expensive.

Now here's a strange thing. We've a Vauxhall (and MG) dealer in Leicester, but Vauxhall parts have to come from the Stellantis dealer the other side of town. They sell Peugeot, Citroen,DS,Alfa Romeo and Leapmotor. Those Vectras are great at being estate cars, though.Had one for a while, same model as that actually, only Doom Blue ,as a credit hire car back in the day, after a no fault accident.

Hang on a minute! It's generally an accepted belief over on TDW that grasses have a special place in hell, especially reserved for them.

If you have proof then name and shame them.

No names on the screenshots shown to me by my manager and HR (outcome: "Your work is fine, keep getting it done to standard and on time, and try not to wind people up too much about extracurricular activities."), no names given in phonecall with the DWP (outcome: "We often get people trying to get people they dislike investigated, your medical records and initial assessment cover you.")

You're choosing to lie down with dogs and claiming to have strong views on fleas... The thread I mentioned is real, isn't it? If you're suddenly taking a principled stance after the fact, look at those contributing the most to it.
