Seriously, this makes so little sense to me. Meticulously restore a classic, keep it original, and what wheels shall I use? These...

Is it a SA import? I've seen a few half decent restored cars newly imported but with horrendous modern alloy wheels which are also way to big fitted.

SA as in South Africa? It's left hand drive, so South Africa is unlikely

Ah yes, I was so distracted by the wheels I didn't notice.

Earlier in the year this had what appeared to be a perfectly good set of the original trims on it, and now.....

I'm hoping they took the originals off and stored them so they don't get kerbed or cracked.

Let's hope so.

My Mum's Mk3 Fiesta had its original trims nicked so me & my Dad found some near identical ones at a car accessory shop in the Manchester Arndale centre.

After a few years 2 of these went missing so a replacement of generic ones were bought, 2 of which were also lost so I ended up putting 2 on one side & the remaining original replacements on the other side!

This was a big problem in the nineties, (at least it was for the local hire car firms whose storage yards full of Fiestas and Corsas etc were fertile hunting grounds for my sixth form college contemporaries)

My Uncle's C reg Nova SR had two sets of wheel trims stolen back in the early 90's. So he just left them off and only put another set on, when he sold it for a 205 1.9 GTI.

It's quite handy though, as you could drive round in this, see your reflection in a shop window and arrest yourself for indecency.
